About

Justin Bieber on Tour

He's descended from the rafters attached to giant angel wings made of speaker parts. He's also held court to seas of screaming fans while sitting on a stool with an acoustic guitar. He's danced madly on EDM festival stages while backed by wild bass kicked out by Diplo and Skrillex, and he's faced off with Questlove in a live drum battle. He is, of course, Justin Bieber — the Canadian-born singer, songwriter, musician and world's biggest pop star, period. His debut concert tour, 2010's My World Tour, launched when he was 16, sold 1.4 million tickets and grossed $53 million. Although he's taken the occasional hiatus from the spotlight, Bieber was a seasoned performer before he was old enough to vote. At the heart of that success is an immense talent (both vocal and instrumental) initially tailor-made to court a global fan base of fervent tweens and kids. But as Bieber grew up, so did his taste and perspective. In tandem with setting Guinness World Records for streams, sales, radio plays, social media followers and video views, the boy became a man in public and on record — his celebrated fourth and fifth albums, 2015's Purpose and 2020's Changes, found him shedding a bubblegum background for new sonic frontiers and critical acclaim.

Justin Bieber in Concert

Justin Drew Bieber was born in London, Ontario, in 1994, and raised in low-income housing by the single mother who would share one of his earliest performances on YouTube in 2006, kicking off one of the most storied careers in music history. His talent was evident early on — Bieber was playing the drums at 2, and singing not long after. By the time he was 12, he was able to earn $3,000 busking in front of his town's theater during tourist season. Within a year of that, he'd been discovered by future music mogul Scooter Braun and introduced to Usher. Management and record deals followed, and Bieber and his mother moved to Atlanta to start building his future. In 2009, Bieber's debut EP, My World, dropped and went platinum within a month. All seven of its songs ended up in the Billboard Hot 100, paving the way for appearances on Ellen, at the White House and on Taylor Swift's tour. Up through 2012's Believe, with its single "Boyfriend," Bieber continued to project youthful optimism and innocent romance, but his career was effectively relaunched in 2015 after he teamed with Jack Ü to release "Where Are Ü Now," an edgy EDM track that found him expressing doubt and lamenting loss. That song, along with his similarly oriented "What Do You Mean?", set the stage for Purpose, a coming-of-age album that explored spirituality, struggle and mature love. Collaborations followed across dance (Major Lazer's "Cold Water"), Latin (Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito"), rap (DJ Khaled's "I'm the One"), country (Dan + Shay's "10,000 Hours") and alternative pop (Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy"), culminating in 2020's appropriately named, fully grown offering, Changes.

    Poorly produced

    by I was rooting 4 u on 2022-03-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

It wasn’t very entertaining. Felt rushed. No catwalk so everything felt far away to everyone in the arena. Terribly underwhelming choreo and the video montage off the top felt wooden and lacked a clear message.

    Great Experience with the Family!

by Cait K. on 2022-03-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

We are all avid Bieber fans in our family now, primarily thanks to my son Theo for getting us hooked! We purchased 4 tickets as a Christmas gift for him, and the countdown was on. We loved that it wasn't overly flashy, and that Justin Bieber was pretty chill on the stage - he was just being who he is. The music was great, and we loved the set list. Sadly, since we purchased higher up seats, we found that the stage wasn't set up in a fan friendly manner - there were no screens that we could see from our angle, and they kept dropping speakers from the ceiling (which probably looked great from up front), but actually blocked JB at certain points. Hopefully the set design can be taken into consideration next time around so that everyone gets a great view no matter where they're at. Otherwise, I would recommend!

    Best Performer of All Time

by Hadasa on 2022-03-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Justin is an adorable sweetheart. He wears his heart out on his sleeves and he will forever be loved. The show was amazing! The visuals were top tier and realistic, his performance was worth everything and his vocals are simply the most unique vocals you’ll ever hear. You’ll realize he’s the king of hits when you’re in there and all his songs get you excited. Love him to pieces. Enjoy your time by going to his show. You won’t regret it. Bring friends along for an even more fun experience. Justin is amazing.

    Boring

by Kirst on 2022-03-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Concert was boring, it didn't seem like Justin Bieber wanted to be there. He hardly interacted with the crowd at all. Felt like he couldn't wait to get off the stage. Bar on the third level concourse was very slow service, only had two people working which was not enough for the amount of people there

Well produced and performed, lack of charisma

by EduardoL on 2022-03-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Justin Bieber and his dancers performed well at this concert. He indeed sang (and didn't rely only on playback recording), the sound and visual effects were nice, etc. But Justin let us down (mainly my wife) concerning sympathy and interaction with the public. He came onto the stage, performed, and left. He didn't thank the audience not even once for being there. He only wished (not very enthusiastically) that the public enjoyed the presentation. I watched a video from his concert in San Jose, California, and it was exactly the same thing. Maybe that's the way he is. In my opinion, it's a bit disappointing.

    Really Disappointed

    by J. B. on 2022-03-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The sound was worse than terrible. If you did not know the words to the songs you would not have been able to understand them. The bass was so loud, it ruined the experience. Had I know that the sound was this bad I would have saved my money. What a disappointment. Did they not have a sound check before the show? I think not. If they did, they need a new engineer. Get this under control so future shows don't have to deal with the problem and disappoint fans.

    Lacked excitement

by Sam on 2022-03-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Seemed like Justin was just going through the motions of “working”. Thought he would try and put on a more exciting show since it’s his hometown. And 1.5 hours from 8:30-10:00. Is this how a pop concert goes now? What happened to the 11-11:30 finish? Kids just don’t know how party these days. 😂
