About

Heading downunder as part of Parkway Drive’s Reverence tour, Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE have unveiled two epic and intimate headline shows this October-November!

At the turn of the century KILLSWITCH ENGAGE spawned an entire genre with their earth-shattering debut, ‘Alive or Just Breathing’, earning the esteemed title as the Godfathers of Metalcore.

Built organically from the most potent components of melodic, heavy and catchy-as-hell European death metal and the essence of the most grimy, urgent and forever yearning American hardcore, the brilliantly individual KILLSWITCH ENGAGE have come to define a generational shift equal parts inevitable and by design, as cultural earthquakes and uprisings often are.

“… how metal is supposed to be heard….live and loud, pummelling your eardrums, and sending a rush through your body” – Heavy Mag

Joined by Justice For The Damned (Sydney Only), who back up every statement made with their Greyscale Records debut, 'Dragged Through The Dirt', Hysteria Mag calling it a “dark, abrasive, and supremely volatile listening experience” and Ocean Sleeper (Melbourne Only), hot off recording their debut album in the USA, among building a loyal fan base with their chart topping debut EP ‘Six feet Down’.

For these two epic headline shows you can expect a killer career spanning set from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE complete with chugging riffs, high energy and a hunger to perfect their attack on the movement they created.  Having sold out shows on their previous tour, don’t miss your chance to see metalcore giants KILLSWITCH ENGAGE tear up these intimate venues.

“Killswitch Engage have once again warmed cold, black, metal hearts around the country”- Wall Of Sound

  • Killswitch Engage stole the show!

    by kallie3000 on 2009-09-15BIG FOUR BUILDING - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show. The first two bands were really good, but Killswitch Engage totally stole the show. The crowd was great, really went crazy. Great light show as well. In Flames was also fantastic - overall, I'd love to see all of these bands again.

  • KsE & In Flames was totally an awesome show

The Bands gave it there all and totally put on a killer show ,they thanked the crowd and the crowd showed so much appriciation and had a fun time watching the bands jam out and get the fans moshing , headbanging , and just having a good ol time =)

  • Great bands, average venue

by natosteak on 2009-09-15Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

I missed Between the Buried and Me, but was able to catch all of Protest the Hero, Killswitch and In Flames, all of which I am big fans of. Too bad the singer of KSE got sick and had to shorten their set, but otherwise all 3 bands were tight. Again, I was a little disappointed that the show was not in Regina (where I am from) and I had to take the 2 hour trip to Saskatoon. I've been to a couple of shows at the Odeon and a couple at Prairieland Park (where this one was) and there is no comparison. The Odean was clearly designed to hold concerts whereas Prarieland Park was designed to hold.....farm progress shows. Poor sound. Poor layout. I must say though, that the sound at this show was much better than previous shows I have attended here.

  • Killswitch always puts on a show

    by 87s15lt1 on 2009-09-15THE ARROW HALL - MississaugaRating: 4 out of 5

Protest and BTBAM did not like. In Flames...always play amazingly. Could step it up a bit. Killswitch stole the damn show! Awesome job getting the crowd right into it. Wicked pit's, wall of death. Encore as well.

  • It was a really great show!

by mrspecialized on 2009-09-15BIG FOUR BUILDING - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Missed the opener and the headliner. Both on purpose. Protest the Hero was awesome once again. To see the bass player tap throughout songs is a must. Killswitch was Killswitch with a great set list and great banter by both Howard and Adam D.

  • In Flames was freaking sweet

by AwesomeK on 2009-09-14Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

All the bands were amazing Protest the Hero rocked their set. Killswitch was freaking amazing but it sucked that Howard was sick a couldnt continue but Adam got us going and the crowd rocked that one. In Flames sounded awesome they are so good live I highly recommend them to anyone who likes to rock.

  • KsE/In Flames=Epic

by KjBl on 2009-09-14Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing live performance from both KsE and In Flames, one of the best live shows I have seen yet. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone into the metal genre as this is the best that it gets.

  • In Flames killed it once again!

by TheDoombringer on 2009-09-14Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show. In Flames absolutely destroyed up there. KSE rocked too, even though their singer got sick. The audience was lead vocals for Rose of Sharyn and Holy Diver. Awesome.

  • KILLSWITCH SHOW STEALER

by MillyVanilly on 2009-09-14Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

I went to the concert for Killswitch and In Flames. I have to say Killswitch was definatly the show stealer, even though Howie had to walk off the stage because he was sick. Adam D did a great job getting the crowd into the improvising. The other bands were OK but the 4 stars goes to KSE.

  • amazing

great performance even tho the singer got sick the people from saskatoon filled right in with singing his part

  • KSE & In Flames were AMAZING!!!

by NateDawg on 2009-09-14Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

Killswitch Engage played a shortened set because lead singer Howard Jones was ill. He took a break mid-set to throw up back stage about 7 songs into their set. While he was gone the crowd sang Rose of Sharyn which was really cool! Howard came back when they started into the Dio cover Holy Diver & belted out a few more songs before he couldn't give any more. I give him credit for sucking it up & doing the set he did. It was high energy & if he would not have announced it, you would never have known he was sick. They promised to make up for the shortened set the next time through Saskatoon! Headliners In Flames were amazing & played a few extra songs to make up for the shortened Killswitch Engage set. They played alot of stuff that they had not played the last 3 times I saw them & I loved that! They are the band that got me into the really heavy metal & they have never dissapointed! Will see both these bands again! These bands could have both played longer & been without the 2 opening acts which were both terrible.

  • Killswitch and Inflames was crazy!!

it was a great night, even though the singer of killswitch was ill he still came out and rocked, and the band did a great job of keeping the energy up and the croud very entertained. you can never fault anyone for being sick and still finishing the show :)

  • Deadlay show, terrible venue

by PProph on 2009-09-14Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

Sunday afternoon and we're on the road from Regina to Stoon, with metal on the agenda. First let me say that even though this show did not operate as smoothly as it could have, it was still worth the 5 hours of driving (the last 2 1/2 through rain at 1 in the morning with only 1 headlight). The show starts with Between the Buried and Me (I've heard they and PTH are alternating opening slots, unconfirmed). Now here's where the disappointment with the venue begins. Doors that were supposed to open at 6 most certainly did not, and the line was stretched out halfway through the parking lot when BTBAM started playing. By the time we got in, we caught most of their last song. It was fantastic, but just wish we could have got in on time as opposed to the set up they had. This problem is venue specific and has happened before. On to Protest the Hero, first props to a well scheduled change over, everything was very time specific. PTH killed, most material was off of Fortress with a couple of tunes pulled from Kezia. They tuned between every song but had background music and banter to fill any void so you didn't stand around waiting bored. The sound left something to be desired, which was again a venue problem, and not anything new with this place. But you could discern most of it if you knew the music, I would imagine people who didn't know the music might have been a tad confused. Killswitch came next after a slightly longer changeover (but again timed well, everything seemed to run on schedule). They came out to My Last Serenade, and rocked it hard. The crowd was nuts, and the band looked to be having a blast. About 5 or 6 songs in though Howard left the stage sick. There was about 5-10 minutes of stalling (which included a song called "friendly neighbour to the north" and a cowbell solo courtesy Adam), and then it was determined that Howard was pretty sick. So the band asked the crowd to sing the next song, Rose of Sharyn. It went pretty well, and the band was thrilled, Adam mentioned how it was one of the most unique things they've had the opportunity to do. The band stalled about 5 more minutes and then broke into Holy Diver, and Howard promptly returned to the stage. He couldn't stay long though, they cut their set short and finished off with End of Heartache, apologizing profusely. Even with a set cut short it was still a great experience and tremendously entertaining. The show stuck to schedule even though KSE finished early, which meant a longer changeover. This was welcome though, because we went into the entrance area which was a ton cooler than the poorly ventilated barn that the venue hall is. No reentry allowed at this show, so the only outdoor area to go to was the smoking areas, which for nonsmokers are rather uninviting. When the lights finally went down for In Flames (still on schedule), the crowd continued to go nuts, if not quite as enthusiastic as they were for Killswitch. The band went through their extensive catalogue but didn't get much from each album, 1 song here, 1 there, obviously the most album representation came from Come Clarity and A Sense of Purpose. But the band dominated the stage, and the light show was a blast. It didn't have quite the effect it would in a normal venue, as there were lights on in the back for the beer gardens, and the large metal quonset style building with its reflective surfaces meant a much brighter venue than one would prefer. But the crowd was with them to the end, and the show was stellar. All in all, despite the misgivings about the venue and the unforseen circumstances in regards to Howard's health, this show was still worth the money and the drive and more.

  • In Flames + Killswitch Engage = Amazing concert

by Kraftd on 2009-09-14Prairieland Park - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

The guys in Killswitch need not feel bad for Howard Jones being sick and having to stop the show early. The pit still erupted when we, the audience, were hired to take the lead vocals on a few songs while Mr. Jones expelled the contents of his upset stomach. It was an amazing experience to hear all those people belting out the lyrics. Howard later returned to close out the shortened set. As for In Flames, they were incredible. What more could a guy ask for when a favorite band of his plays so many of his favorite songs. Truly Amazing.

  • Amazing line-up!
