Fun day at the track for sure. Would recommend checking it out!
Let me begin by saying I've attended the Queen's Plate at Woodbine Race Track yearly for well over a decade, and I always have an amazing day, except this year. I understand Woodbine Race Track is undergoing renovations, and that there might be some new challenges that go along with that process, but the way it was handled made me never want to return in the future. All access to trackside was funneled through one entrance, and that entrance was closed periodically and before each race. No where was it posted that this entrance would be closed 20 minutes before the race. We left trackside just after the 9th race (before the Queen's Plate) to use the restrooms, which required lining up to get through this gate, only to find out upon our return that they had closed off this entrance to trackside until after the race. However, we were told there was another entrance from the 2nd floor, so we fought our way through the crowds to that entrance, and told we were not allowed entrance to trackside there (even though their was a clear path), and that there was another entrance further down. We went further down, where there was another clear path to trackside, but again we were told we could not use it, and that there was an entrance on the first floor down the escalators behind us. Sure enough, after following our latest instructions we found out there was no entrance to trackside there. Every employee we spoke to had a different story, except for acknowledging there was actually no trackside entrance open. I have not experienced such a mismanagement of an event in years, and it absolutely ruined our day, having missed the Queen's Plate race with our friends This mismanagement coupled with the increasing ticket costs means I'm going to look elsewhere for my yearly tradition next year.
It's kinda confusing because it says general admission and each ticket has a seat number. But there are no assigned seats.
It was way too hot like 4 million degrees Fahrenheit they moved all the food trucks farther away there was no pins or memorabilia to give away no seats all it was was a hot sweaty boring day I have gone every year for the last many years and don't think I will be returning you're asking me about my seat right now with a number and every time I asked where my seat was I was told I didn't have a seat so I had to stand all day in the heat
Not the biggest turnout but the show was very entertaining and he and his band were great!
I loved that there were no seats, it didn’t matter where you stood you could see everything. He sounded amazing. The food trucks and midway were just a cool added bonus.
Purchased preferred parking but unsure what preferential is as the walk was not as close as arriving early (which we did) and parking in one of the regular lots. When we left, we were forced to walk all the way to the other side of the racetrack (away from our preferred lot) to exit then walk in my heels all the way back. That was not what I planned / paid for! The only other comment I have is that I couldn't find an agenda on what times each event was at, such as the best dressed contest which I would of liked to watch but missed because of this. Other than that, it was a first time experience. Nice day to be outside. Not sure if I would visit again.
The girls got dressed up and wore fancy hats for the event. We had such a great time! There was some horse racing but it was more about the event!
This was my first attendance. You don't need to know a lot about horse racing or betting to enjoy a day at the races. And this event makes for a nice fancy day out. The crowd goes absolutely nuts as the horses race to the finish line and it's so exciting! I will go again for sure!
I loved going to the Queen's Plate in past years but this year, they made it a two-day event and upped the price -significantly. I liked the one day event. I liked that there were more food trucks and they were better situated. This year we had to pay $80 for our tickets to sit on the third level. That's too much.
So many people dressed up for this event, it was amazing to see so many people having fun with their wardrobes. This was my favourite part!
Absolutely amazing!!!! Music, good vibes, wonderful fashion! I will make this an annual event!
it was a well run event. We got the Amex VIP tickets and it was worth it.
Attending Queens Plates since 1976, lots of positive changes in the last 2 years. Venue was set up good. Plenty of food truck options although the in house food needs to improve, drinks were priced same as other major sporting events. Great weather, good racing, not a fan of the new racing surface. Concert started the 630 pm, Hedley came on at 930 pm over after 11 pm. Note to the folks at Woodbine, clean the seats you charge for, second year in a row we had to clean our seats. Overall a very good long day at the track.
We had a great day betting on the horse races, so much fun. The day ended with an amazing performance by Hedley. Jake has sooo much energy and passion, he is great to watch live.
The venue was fantastic. I really enjoyed how they set it up. Hedley was amazing as per usual! I've now seen them 4 times. Matthew Good was great, it was my 2nd time seeing him. The bathrooms were clean, which was surprising and nice. The beer was quite expensive ($9 for a tiny can of Budweiser) but the staff were all pleasant and respectful! Standing around in the heat kind of sucked but that's what happens at an outdoor concert. I'd definitely recommend this location and the bands!
Finally at 9:30pm Hedley after being at the Woodbine Racetrack since noon to watch the races. So exhausted I couldn't even stand up on my own but Hedley full of energy was fun to watch. Always a good show from Hedley.
Loved going to the Queen's Plate, the Hedley concert finished off the night perfectly. They are the best band!
The best part of the day was Hedley but it was a long day as they did not come in until 9pm. Next year I will buy seat tickets because with general admission you are on your feet to much and you have to deal with the crowds.
