Great musicians. Horn section was tight. Lead vocalist was strong
I remember listening to Lighthouse on my Dad's vinyl in the early 70's. I love the rich layered rock sound you can get when you combine a strong horn section with traditional rock instruments (drums, guitar, bass, etc). I did the math and wasn't sure if these boys would still 'have it'. They still have it! I found myself singing along to almost every song, the words coming out of my mouth without even thinking - it just flowed. Lighthouse still sounds great! Watching these 'Gentlemen', however, I was reminded a little of an Oldtimer's hockey dressing room. They still tease each other and are genuine friends with stories to tell. Also like an oldtimer's dressing room, I spied some sore back's (trombone player) on stage, and a lot of sweat. Probably smelled like A535 if I was close enough. These guys were fun, (like an Oldtimer's dressing room), and I can't wait to see them again before they retire.
As always, a great show. We missed Skip, but his son did a great job in his place.
I have seen the band many times over the years but this was the best concert of all. Yes, I missed Bob's vocals but Dan is a far better entertainer and loses nothing in the vocal presentation. Very sad that Skip was not well and not behind the drum kit. There may have been 500 or so of us lucky grey hairs to witness this. The sound was fantastic and the intimacy of the studio made the band and audience interaction exhilarating. It was a true 70's concert with long songs featuring all 10 players and a group of musicians who were really having fun on stage. Amazing, amazing, amazing
Lighthouse is a fantastic band, who always give 100%, but the undoubted star of their performance is Dan Clancy. I'd love to know where he gets his energy from, I'd be happy if I had half as much. He has a great voice and it's obvious he enjoys every minute of the show, including when the others in the band are doing their solos. Every member of the band is very talented and we're very lucky that they've all stayed together all these years.
The lighthouse concert did not disappoint,I have all thier LPS .. I play them all.the time. Hearing them actually sing their songs reminded me of days gone past . The band was tight on the mark, the vocals were outstanding...
They were amazing as usual. Skip's son did a fabulous job filling in however Skip was missed! We wish him well and a speedy recovery.
Skip and the guys were incredible and always seem to have a great time performing. Their songs bring back happy memories of the seventies for us. Looking forward to the next time!
These guys are still the consumate professional musicians they were 30 years ago. I'll admit I was a little skeptical as I've attended other concerts with ageing groups and been sadly disappointed. Not this time. I was so impressed I bought one of their re-mastered CD's and it's fantastic. The venue was also great, just the right size for this type of concert, up close and personal. Bottom line if anyone out there likes Lighthouse, try to see them one last time, you won't regret it.
Lighthouse was just as ,if not better than, in the 70's. Excellent music and great solo's. all around fantastic show . I would see them again.
Best concert I've been to in such a long time! The sound was amazing and the vocals were so outstanding! Way more then I expected! We all had a great time and I wish they played longer then 2 hours!!
Band got stronger as they got a couple numbers into the set. Sounded great, vocals were excellent. The solos were very good, the brass section was solid, sounded great to hear a live band with quality brass section, once again. It was great to see the band live again. Glad I went!
I've been a huge fan from the time I heard their first tune. I'm so glad that I took it in ... just closed my eyes and went back to the early 70s. Absolutely fantastic.
Legendary Canadian hitmakers with a pioneering sound that is as interesting today as it was then. The number of hits they had, which they couldn't even squeeze all in, is incredible and they were well reproduced on stage. Skip Prokop's voice is still as pleasant as ever and the lead singer, Dan, nailed all of Bob McBride's vocal nuances and tone. I just can't give it 5 stars because I originally saw Bob McBride and you just can never be the same without the original charisma and voice on stage.
Lighthouse was absolutely fantastic!! A great show band with an amazing lead singer with an incredible voice....would definitely see them again! Well done Lighthouse!
awesome - one of the best concerts I have been to in a long time!
Hearing Lighthouse was a wonderful experience. The band played well, On the negative side the sound was quite poor, they were experiencing sound difficulties throughout the performance.
Other Skip Prokop's malfunctioning mic....the show was outstanding!!! Lighthouse began with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 1969...they proudly reminded the crowd...it all began here :-)
Amazing concert!! Voices and instruments dead on. I've been going to see this band since i first saw them at 15 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto over 30 years ago. Exceptional talent!!! Look forward to seeing them at their next venue.
One of the most amazing concerts ever. Blessed to witness so many true musicians all at once on the same stage. So talented, so humble, absolutely special. WOW !!!!!! They are a group second to none, a must see for any music enthusiast!
