    Loverboy was outstanding

by HarleyKen on 2010-01-10Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

So much to like about them, their energy, great vocals, a true rock band who are super talented musicians who have mastered their instruments individually and are so polished as a group. The venue was good except for the sound. I love loud, coming at you rock, but the base was so cranked up that it was distorted and you couldn't make out many words or hear the other instruments well. Is there a way to fix that problem in that venue...I was not alone with that observation. Thanks

Loverboy were very true to their original songs. Amazing that we remembered every word. Lots of great energy. Would see them again.

    Loverboy

by Favfan on 2010-01-09Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I go to these types of concerts to hear the band play all their big hits, with a bit of new stuff thrown in OK. So, I loved that Loverboy did Working for the Weekend, Turn Me Loose, etc, but would have preferred if they opened the show with a big, powerful hit rather than working up to them, then leave us with a big hit at the end, as they did. The one long tune with the awesome drum solo was spectucular, but too much mediocre stuff in the middle, in my view. Loved Mike Reno's interaction with the audience, and the cake for his birthday great ... why didn't we all REALLY sing happy birthday in a big way to him? Would have made it more personal. About the Commodore, really did not like that I was forced to immediate entry after picking up my tickets at will call ... really, I don't like being your prisoner. don't like red wine out of a can at $10 each, would have liked to know that there was an opening acct and that Loverboy would not come on stage until after 10:30pm, and will think twice about coming back again.

    Good, but Loud!

by husbandandwife on 2009-10-15McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

The show was good. The band sounded great and played all their old hits, and even some of their "newer" hits. My only complaint is that it was maybe a little too loud. I have been to many shows at this venue and none have been as loud as this one. Luckily a friend had some earplugs, so I enjoyed the show in a slightly muffled fashion. Thanks for the show, it was a great way to spend my birthday!

    Love Loverboy

by JacquarRocker on 2009-10-13McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

Mike Rene still has the cords! He has a great sense of humor and doesn't seem to take himself too seriously. The band is greater than expected. Just like a fine wine, they are better with age. This is my third time seeing them here in Winnpeg and I would definately see them again and again. Great Entertainers.

    loverboy rocks

by rockerchic74 on 2009-10-11McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

Overall these guys were great! Mike sure has an awesome voice. They put some newer bands we have out there to shame. The sound was phenomenal. The price was great and the small venue made it more intimate.

Loverboy lives up to Music Hall of Fame status

by Racoon on 2009-10-11McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

They did a great job... really enjoyed the solos, particularly those of the bassist, drummer and keyboardist (loved the latter's sax solo too)... ... the only thing that disappointed me was that Kenny Shields of Streetheart, who was in the audience, didn't come up to play "Under my Thumb" as he did the last time Loverboy played in Winnipeg... that would've lead to an amazing finish and a commensurate rating for me...

    Loverboy was HOT tonite!!

by Leipzig on 2009-10-11McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

This is the first time we went to a concert at the casino and it ROCKED!! Much more intimate because of the smaller area. The sound was amazing and Loveryboy played for 2 solid hours and didn't miss a beat. Looking forward to the next concert!!

    Loverboy was a great show

by Toast99 on 2009-10-11McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

This was a blast from the past that was worth the trip out. Although they don't look the same, they sounded great and Mike Reno hasn't missed a note. Would see them again - no problems.

He still has his pipes, almost (long notes were a bit difficult) but the body sure doesn't match anymore.

    Loverboy lets us down!

by Incognito4u on 2009-10-10McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

The show at McPhillips Casino Street Station on Friday Oct 09, 2009 was terrible! Show started late as always with Loverboy and then the sound was awful for at least the first half. You could barely hear Mike Reno singing at all because the band was so loud that they were totally drowning him out! Then there was a base feedback so loud that we all had to cover our ears so they didn't fall off. I think that the Venue sound people were responsible for the sound goofs, because when they finally got it right you could tell that Reno and Dean were really pissed-off already. It was like they hadn't bothered to do a proper sound check earlier. Then they just didn't seem to be into it anymore. Even for the encore, we weren't sure if they would even come back out, but when they did, it was for only 2 more songs which didn't even get the crowd excited. I have seen them many times before and I know what they can do, but this show was by far they're worst I have ever seen. They usually put on a great show with great sound but I think the Venue should give refunds for this one! Will not go see them again. Do a sound-check next time GUYS! Later, Incognito4u

    Loverboy - Still got it!

by Rob3 on 2009-10-10McPhillips Street Station Casino - Winnipeg

Other than taking about 3 songs to get the sound down, the show was great! Mike's pipes are still as polished as ever and each band member is a professional artist of their own. Each song would bring you back, reminding you of just how much you really loved their music. The drum and bass solo was a great touch and Mike had a way of bringing the crowd together. We got there as a bunch of strangers going to see a classic rock band and left feeling we were at a big party with a bunch of friends. Definitely recommended!

Things started to really rock as the show progressed.Too bad they didn't play longer Lead vocals were very good and the other musicians were exceptional.
