Direct from Broadway, MEAN GIRLS is the hilarious hit musical from book writer TINA FEY ("30 Rock), composer JEFF RICHMOND ("Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"), lyricist NELL BENJAMIN (Legally Blonde) and director CASEY NICHOLAW (The Book of Mormon). The story of a naïve newbie who falls prey to a trio of lionized frenemies, MEAN GIRLS "delivers with immense energy, a wicked sense of humor and joyful inside-jokery." USA Today says, "We'll let you in on a little secret, because we're such good friends: GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!
This was a great performance. Lots of talent among the cast, very smooth scene transitions, and creativity of the set. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
My daughter and I had a great time! We loved the songs and dance numbers.
The venue is a great one where most seats are great views. The matinee that we saw was great energy. I highly recommend the show my kids and I are now addicted to the music. There was an unfortunate injury on stage while performing, and they had to stop the show but the venue and the cast and crew made the weight minimal to restart the show with a new actress in her place. I hope she’s OK.
Was a great musical. My daughter and I enjoyed it and it was really funny. The actor who played Gretchen got hurt on stage, sending her well wishes and hope she’s okay!
Had a nice evening out with my friend and her two daughter in laws. Enjoyed the show. Performances by all actors were very good.
The main issue was the very poor sound. It was impossible to hear the lyrics. It really spoiled everything. Sets are great. The cast worked hard and seemed to be giving it all. So unfortunate that I couldn't hear the lyrics
The sound system was poor and did not work well for the audience sitting on the far left and right sections of the floor. You know it’s bad when your whole seat section is not laughing at the punchlines because they could not hear the dialogue while the people in the centre of the floor were having a great time.
I’m not a musical fan… and this show blew my mind away! It was so well written, the voices impeccable, the live band playing amazingly… can’t wait to have this experience again.
Well done. True to the original movie. Didn’t try to build on current popular or trendy ways of thinking. Desk choreography was impressive and the main character actors were well picked. Few mouth dropping moments brought shock factor and smiles to our faces. Nice work.
This is my first time watching Mean Girls Musical. It is also my first time watching musical, it is amazing and worth to spend two hours sitting and enjoying this amazing talented people singing on the stage. I want to say this to all the performers and the producers. You all nail the stage!!!!! Love it!!!!!
I'm not much of a musical theatre person, but I was so WOWed when I saw Mean Girls the first time in Edmonton on opening night, I went again days later, and then I went to their last show in Calgary! It's so good, I never imagined I would love it this much! Very impressed with the acting, singing, dancing, choreography, the production value and the story of adapting one of my favorite movies into a Broadway musical. My favorites of the musical were Maya Petropoulos as Regina, and MaryRose Brendel as Karen. But everyone else was amazing and I hope to see this again later in the spring, and these actors have a bright future ahead! Highly recommend seeing MEAN GIRLS if it comes to your town! Trust me!
Great work and dedication from actors and crew. Really showed their efforts. We had the last row in the hall and still enjoyed the seating.
Really surprising to see the other reviews about not hearing the words. Came to the opening night in Vancouver, sat in Balcony, and thought the show was just amazing. Their vocals were loud and clear. Sound projected well across the theatre.
Loved mean girls in nyc! Hilarious! This one you could not hear the lyrics. So not as funny. I think it was the Sound system because we never had this problem in New York and our seats were much worse it’s possible as enunciation thing. Ironically, I found that I had the same problem with book of Mormon, which also has tempo songs that you couldn’t quite hear what they were saying/ singing.
Good family fun! Well done, was a nightmare getting ut of the parking lot afterwards but all in all a great time was had
What an amazing show! Had us engaged the whole way through- the talent was out of this world!
It was my first experience with Mean Girls. I knew absolutely nothing about the storyline. It was very funny. I was shocked at the language and innuendo and hoped that the young children in the audience didn’t understand! I could really only see the left side of the stage as the person in front of me was very tall.
Wished I was closer as it was pretty great. Back row is too far away. Only thing I hated was the overly suggestive choreography that was unnecessary
We have been fans of this movie for years. The musical did not disappoint. The cast of characters were all on point. Damien was hilariously funny, as was Karen. All their voices were magnificent. Well done!!!
Having listen to the soundtrack when it was originally premiered and living the book of music I was thrilled it came to Calgary. The principles were good with the person that played Janice her voice and character building was awesome. The sound was a bit off at the being making it hard to hear clearly some of the songs. This did get better as the show went on. Few minor slips of the ensemble (I’m one of those that watch the background and ensemble more than the main characters, just my things) which I’m sure no one really noticed. Overall I was entertained but not wowed like I expected.
