Metallica was formed by drummer Lars Ulrich and singer/guitarist James Hetfield in Los Angeles in 1981; since then, their astonishing career milestones include winning eight Grammys and selling over 125 million albums worldwide, including the critically-acclaimed Master of Puppets (1986), often cited as one of the most important metal albums in history. They are also one of the most popular and commercially successful touring acts in history — according to Pollstar, as of 2019 Metallica had sold over 22 million tickets and grossed $1.4 billion in touring since 1982. Metallica’s fifth studio album, Metallica (1991), famously known as The Black Album, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and features some of the band’s biggest hits: “Nothing Else Matters,” “The Unforgiven” and “Enter Sandman.” On six consecutive genre-defining studio albums (from 1991’s Metallica through 2016’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct), Metallica has consistently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In support of their 2023 album 72 Seasons, Metallica’s M72 World Tour will see the band playing two nights in every city they visit throughout 2023-24.

    Show was great, probably not as good as the last tour, although this album was way better and they played a decent number of new tunes at the show. Stage needed to be a bit higher for those of us with floor seats - it was really hard to see. Decent energy but the crowd on our side was more into moshing and smoking up than the show itself. I think they need to change the stage set up a bit more and play less fluff (Memory Remains, Unforgiven come to mind).

    Having the good luck to be on the floor, right in the middle at the front, it was as if the guys were playing for us!! Intimate loud aggressive and LOVING METALLICA. METALLICA ROCKS!!!!

    Thank You Metallica

    From opening to staying on stage after the show to hand out sticks, picks and the traditional metallica balls the band certainly showed their appreciation for the sold out show in Winnipeg. The played the classics and new material to entertain every fan. Covering Diamond Head as their first encore. The stage set was awe inspiring, floor burning pyro, multicoloured vertical flames, coffin like lighting rigs and laser lights cutting through the dry ice. This was one show that puts all the others to shame. Sets a precident for bands to remember who pays their way and be thankful. Metallica Thank you for delivering an inspiring show... so much so we changed Oh Canada to "Enter Sandman" on Tuesday morning...

    Crazy fast

    I wish they would have slowed down a couple of the songs as the their effect is dimished by the fast pace. Otherwise fantastic. I missed the first band, but Lamb of God did a great job to lead into Metallica (too bad they cold not have got on stage sooner)

    The opening acts were terrible, the light show, for how little they used it was pretty impressive, and the boys were awesome! Being my first Metallica concert, I was surprised, but very happy, to hear so much old stuff. That was great. James sounds as good live as he does recorded. I hope they come back again soon. I'll be there, if the ticket master site stays up long enough to get a ticket.

    This is the 3 time i've seen them in Winnipeg. They get better each and every time....2 hrs and 15 min of nonstop heart pounding heavy metal that anyone should attend just for the show itself even if you aren't a Metallica fan. Simply amazing!
