The Best Band in the Best Venue!

by deBo on 2009-10-22Massey Hall - Toronto

This was one of the best shows I've ever been too. Every aspect of the show was wonderful. I've been following Metric for years, and I'm just loving the way they're evolving. They really know how to through a good concert. A must see show of Canadian talent! The Stills were wonderful too; I was happy to get exposed to more of their material. Keep it coming!

Metric put on a spirited show. The Ottawa civic Centre is not a very good venue.

The show was great -- so much energy and all the pleasures of seeing an up-and-coming rock band do their thing. that chick has soooo much energy on stage, even if you hated rock you'd love to watch her bob her head and smack the synthesizer (it's so cool to see someone in sequins rock out on the synth and tambourine --> she reminds me of Debbie Harry.

    The music speaks for itself.

by Anonymous on 2009-10-22Massey Hall - Toronto

Very good show. Metric performed most of the songs from their new album Fantasies plus the hits from the past. I love the new album so I was not dissapointed. I think it was the songs themselves that did it for me. Emily is entertaining to watch and she works the crowd like a pro. The band and their music is maturing and I think they have 'Big Band' potential. But that might ruin everyting. :) The Stills have some good songs but they don't generate the energy on stage that Metric does. Hence their name?

    Loved Metric!

by Anonymous on 2009-10-22Massey Hall - Toronto

The Stills were pretty lame but Emily Hains knows how to rock the house!! Loved her robot dancing and shiny gold dress. She was so gracious and had a huge stage presence. They sounded incredible, every song had so much complexity, they're musical geniuses. I loved how Emily jumps around the stage and really gets into the beat. I danced my heart out!

Metric is one of the best live bands in Canada

by chrism on 2009-10-22Massey Hall - Toronto

Emily Haines has reason to be a bit of a golden goddess on stage these days. Metric seems like they can do no wrong on stage (even though some of the live vocal effect mixing that Emily was doing was a little shaky at times). Their entire repertoire is insanely catchy and lends itself very nicely to the stage. I seriously do not understand why this band isn't as big as *cough* Nickleback.

    Metric at Massey Hall

by Momee on 2009-10-22Massey Hall - Toronto

What an awesome venue to actually hear the music. This was my 9 year olds first concert and Im so happy it was Metric at Massey Hall. Her voice is mindblowing. If you want gogo dancers and a big showy performance then dont go see this - but if you want amazing music with perfect sound and just a pure concert then Mertic hits the spot.

Metric is and was fantastic. Love the show so much energy, even with the crappy seats I got. Wish they played more of there older stuff. They did cover a few songs and give some shout outs. All in all a marvelous night.

Metric + The Stills = EPIC

by JamesK on 2009-10-21The Civic Centre - Ottawa

The concert was amazing. It started with an hour and a half wait in line, then trying to get through the doors first, but after the run up the stairs and to the merch stand, we were ready. The concert started with a high energy preformance by The Stills. Their set consisted of such songs as 'I'm With You', 'Gender Bombs', 'Don't Talk Down', 'Being Here' and many others. A very good preformance, exact same sound as the CD. After a brief intermission, the lights went down and the sound went up. The first song that Metric played was 'Twilight Galaxy' - a rocking song, the preform level was set by the intensity of this song. The songs to follow included 'Poster Girl', 'Sick Muse', 'Gimme Sympathy' and many others, all killer tracks. The crowd was into every song, most people on their feet, singing along with every word, (me being on of them). During 'Gimme Sympathy', the stands were bouncing up and down as people were jumping to the beat - don't know if it was safe, but it was sick. The concert trailed on into the night, Metric rocked through their setlist and awed the crowd. The final song, before the encore was Stadium Love. They honestly blew up their speakers. The encore were two songs (can't remember the names, one being a sing-a-long and the other..... ). After the final song it had set in that I had witnessed THE BEST CONCERT EVER! With the combination of the projector, the lights, the music and the crowd, nothing will ever top Metric and The Stills - excpet their next preformance, maybe.

    Great show, crappy crowd!

by Chai on 2009-10-21Ottawa Civic Centre - Ottawa

The music was great but I was rather distracted by the lead singer's hair being in her face constantly and that she looked very tired. I wish the crowd had been more into it- done more dancing, jumping and hollering - especially for The Stills. I was also distracted by the disgusting smell of pot - this was an all ages event!

Metric remains a musical force to contend with!

by PrairyErth on 2009-10-21Massey Hall - Toronto

Metric continues to deliver live. The concert on October 20th at Massey Hall was incredible. Emily Haines throws herself into the band's music, and continues to be the consummate performer. Would strongly recommend this band as a good concert experience. And least I forget... The Stills. The band was tight on stage. My only complaint would be that I found their vocals were a little muddy as a result of the balance on the sound system.

    Metric Delivers..!

    by Opie1 on 2009-10-21Massey Hall - Toronto

Metric delivered an outstanding performance at MH on Tuesday night. The sound was awesome and the set lighting/visuals looked amazing even from high up in the gallery seats. The band's 'tight' musicianship was in full form from beginning to end. And Emily Haines...with that uniquely distinctive voice...was a wonderfully watchable little bundle of energy...what more can you say about her? She looks fabulous and gives it her all for each show. Just ask the people in the front row..! In fact much of the crowd was standing in the aisles and the front of the stage the whole time...you couldn't just sit still in your...you had get up and bop..! The thunderous applause from a throughly appreciative and entertained audience was definitely the loudest I've heard at Massey since the Arcade Fire played there a couple years ago.

All Concerts Should Be Measured With METRIC!!!!

by ProfDG on 2009-10-21Massey Hall - Toronto

This was my second time seeing Metric perform (Virginfest a few years ago was the other time) and they blew me away. Each song sounded a little edgier than on the cds, which is something I enjoy in a concert. It's nice to feel like you've heard something that you couldn't have if you were at home. Also, Emily's stage presence is amazing. She knows how to play the crowd and her energy levels are insane. On top of all that energy, her vocals remain as clear as they are on the cds!!! It's an incredible experience to see them perform and I would tell anyone who would listen to go see their concert whenever you can! The only drawback to the experience was the venue...sort of...I purchased tickets in the 5th row, which I was quite excited about, but then people are allowed to come up to the front and stand at the stage, blocking my view. That sucked a bit, but I can't hold that against the band...
