It was a great concert. Never saw any of the Doobie Bros live before, and I was not disappointed when I finally had the chance.

I was always fan of Michael McDonald so when I heard about his concert in Toronto I jumped on the tickets immediately. I was not disappointed one bit. If he has a concert here again I am going to be there.

Did not know when purchased tickets there was an opening act, but she was good. Most people did not arrive until Michael McDonald started so there was a lot of people looking for their seats at the beginning of the show. Let people bring their drinks into the concert, so people were up & down in their seats all through the concert.

Fantastic!! This was our first time at the Sony Centre, a great venue! You could every note and word from Miichael, this for me was a bucket list experience and it exceeded every expectation. The venue was really great, and keep encouraging that he plays here again!!

  • Michael McDonald could sing the phone book!

by Ajsax on 2018-09-17Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

He’s a great musician. Sounds as great as he did 30 years ago! He was on my bucket list. I mentioned to my friend I was with at the concert. People this talented don’t need all the smoke and mirrors ....big stage show other “artists” use. They just get up there and the music speaks for itself. It’s not a show....it’s a concert! Opening act was amazing too!

  • Still a great voice backed by Terrific Musicians

Michael can still belt them out. He is also an amazing piano player. Just one backup female singer and she was excellent. The saxophonist was incredible. Michael did some songs in the middle of concert from his 2017 album wide open which I wasn’t familiar with but enjoyed enough to download the album later. No giant screen so if you want close up views, take Opéra glasses. Stick around after it seems the concert seems to have stopped as he comes back and does 3 more classic songs and gets the crowd on its feet.

Worth every year we had to wait. What a Fool Believes is the song that my husband and I bonded with years gone by. When he sang it, the circle was completed for me. On my own, made me cry. Not sure why the house wasn't full. He deserves every accolade possible.

Saw Michael McDonald and his band the other night in Toronto and he was excellent!! Played his biggest solo hits as well as his biggest hits he had when he led the Doobie Brothers in the mid 70’s to early 80’s before going solo. Nice to also hear a few cuts from Michael’s new album. Great show...had people up dancing!!! Cheers also to opening act Laila Biala, a Canadian jazz singer currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. She was also excellent and got a standing ovation at the end of her set.

The show was spectacular. Sound was fabulous. I would like to have heard a few more of the older songs, especially Motown sound.
