Great short concert, Michael's show was 1 hour and 20 minutes. For 100 dollar tickets he should be performing for 2 hours at least with a break half way.

by Lovey62 on 2018-09-17Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoAmazingly talented! I can not say enough about this concert... and trust me...I’ve been to many...this was by far the Best voice I’ve heard...his voice is as smooth as butter and his band is just as talented! I was in the 2nd row at the Sony Centre in Toronto and it’s a wonderful place for this type of venue

Rating: 5 out of 5 Fantastic show!
by Roachalina on 2018-09-17Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoMichael McDonald still has it. The show was on time, he came out with no Fanfare but delivered a solid show Almost 2 hours and length. The opening act was also very good.
Rating: 5 out of 5 The most inviting and comfortable venue
by bangers on 2017-08-13Chateau Ste Michelle Winery - WoodinvilleThis has got to be one of the most comfortable and inviting venues I have ever had the chance to watch a concert in. It was very well organized, extremely accessible and just a delight to attend. Nobody minded waiting in line, as we had lawn chairs to sit in, wine to sip and picnic items to munch on. It was very civilized. Even though the acts were fantastic, they were almost (not quite) superfluous.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Nice show, but the sound was a bit messy
by Twiny on 2015-08-12Hard Rock Casino Vancouver - CoquitlamNice show, top hits, great musicians. But the sound was a bit messy. The bass was not clear. Also in the end they raised the volume to a painful levels, so I was forced to close my ears from time to time. I don't get why, after called for encore, they played also Stevie Wonder's songs. Michael McDonald has enough his own original material, so it was kind of weird. Anyway, overall, great show, got what was expected.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Loud for nothing
by fanless on 2015-08-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondI bought 4 tickets for this concert at River Rock Casino last Sat, what a big disappointment! The volume was so loud my husband had to get ear plugs from the attendant. The sound guy should really be fired cus he destroyed the enjoyment from the concert. Michael McDonald is a legend and we were so looking forward to watching him in person, but he didn't really sing a lot of the songs that made him famous. That's always a mistake for any vocalist not to deliver what the fans came for. I'll never buy another ticket to see him again!
Rating: 3 out of 5 Still Love Michael
by DDelucchi on 2015-08-12Hard Rock Casino Vancouver - CoquitlamSo....I do really love Michael and loved that he did a lot of Doobie Brothers songs, but that show was too short and we left feeling a bit cheated out of some classic "Michael" songs. One hour of songs plus about a 15 minute encore. Audience was very disappointed to have such a short program. Sound needs more work as he has such a gravelly voice. We were in the front row and really couldn't make out much. He is JUST THE BEST though!!
Rating: 1 out of 5 Got our money back
by Margoo on 2015-08-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondWe had been looking forward to this concert for some time but we were seriously disappointed. The sound was so bad that the staff were handing out earplugs. The sound levels seemed to have been set for a much larger venue and we couldn't make out any of the lyrics. The vibrations from the loudness set off my heart rhythm and we had to leave. Others left at the same time and we were given our money back. The manager said that McDonald was using his own sound man and that if we could be patient their staff would try to fix the sound problem. By that point the damage was done.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Michael McDonald worth every minute
by Clementina on 2015-08-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondMichael McDonald voice and passion hasn't changed at all since days long past. He is an artist and gives his audience his all. I was extremely impressed by the band and powerhouse Drea Rhenee. River Rock is a terrific venue, close and intimate with the band, a different experience from any other. A great night.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Michael Was Great - Soundman Needs Retraining
by mediabrain on 2015-08-11River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondMichael and the band were in top form but yet another show was undermined by an incompetent person running the sound board. The bass was initially distorted and kept overpowering the keyboards and Michael's vocals throughout the entire show. The last time I saw Michael at the River Rock that sound person had a great mix but this guy didn't have a clue.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Legend comes to town
by TurkishTed on 2015-08-11River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondSeeing Michael McDonald was on my bucket list for quite some time. A massively underrated singer/songwriter and keyboard player deserves much wider recognition for his work than I think he has received to date. He demonstrated his talents ably in the quieter interludes with a fantastic rendition of You don't know me and a knock out performance of On My Own, his assistant more than filling in for Patti Labelle. The set was just over 1 hour long and only one encore, so somewhat shorter than expected but it's the quality that counts. This is where the i's were not dotted and the t's not crossed. The sound was dreadful. It took to the end of the 3rd song for someone to shout out "the music is too loud", which it was. Guitar was very loud and the drums and bass combo overpowering to the point only the sax could break through. The keyboards were drowned out and there were times we couldn't hear the voices. The sound engineer must have tweaked it a bit as it definitely improved after that point but it was only on the quieter songs that you could truly hear what a gift Michael has for delivering that heart wrenching vocal. It is not clear at this time if it is the auditorium or the set up. I am glad I went as he is one of my all time favourites from way back when he was in the Doobies and I will visit the River Rock again, then I will know if it is the venue that is the problem or the engineering. So, slightly disappointed but overall I enjoyed my evening and would still recommend seeing him as he is a thoroughly professional musician with a quality back catalogue of work.
Rating: 5 out of 5 MICHAEL MCDONALD
by MELONBAUKER on 2015-08-11River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondFabulous sound .....saw both shows at River Rock and Hard Rock and sound quality is different between venues . Both stellar performances and Michael has not lost a step nor any of his growl. For a man of his age , he can still belt it out.....his Backup Singer , Drea Rhenee' is absolutely show stopping . She adds a dimension to this show that is perfect and Michael McDonald is a genius for having her on board with him on tour !! If you love this man's voice , then you will not be disappointed in this concert . A must see if you are a fan !!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Great Performance
by moonrisingca on 2015-08-11River Rock Casino Resort - Richmondi was with two others and we all enjoyed the show. At first the band was too loud but I think the sound tech must have made an adjustment.
Rating: 4 out of 5 michael mcdonald
by alvin54 on 2015-08-11River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondGreat show; he can still hit the high, soulful notes. Muddy sound for first three or four tunes was not pleasant. Needed a couple more songs from Livin on the Fault Line... but solid show.
Rating: 5 out of 5 A Classic
by RBlue on 2015-08-11River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondMichael still has an amazing set of pipes and can belt a song out like no other. So glad I had to opportunity to see him in such an intimate venue. I just wish it had been a bit longer than just one hour. He did play pretty much continuously and I know he's not 20 anymore, but I'm old school and like the 3-4 hr concerts. For such a wide repertoire of songs to draw upon 2 hours would have been spectacular.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Michael McDonald a legend.

by rubberfish on 2015-08-11River Rock Casino Resort - Richmondthe sound was too bassy and too loud which over shadowed the show. too bad as they are an amazing band, and he has an amazing voice so did his back ups
