Minnesota Wild History
The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.
The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2002-2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.
Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired. Overall, the Wild has qualified for the Playoffs 13 times in its history.

Took My family to see one of my childhood friends play. While there my children were able to experience some moments that they will never forget. Without the help of Andrew Brunette this would not of happend, so I have to thank him for this experience. Andrew has always gone the extra way to help out those who ask, it just goes to show you that he is just a normal guy, and these type of guys do exist in the NHL. While at morning skates my children got the chance of a lifetime and met Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fluery, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, the BOOGY MAN, and of course Andrew. They were also very lucky and recieved all their autographs. Just goes to show you that as much as these players are asked for this kind of thing they continue to go the extra way without question. My kids also got the chance to tour the dressing room of the minnesota wild which they still talk about today. I also have to say that we were at every morning skate for a week long and every morning the players for the minnesota wild would always take the time to say goodmorning and hows it going to the kids which was very nice. Mikko Koivu gave My son the autographed puck after the 6-5 shoot out win vs chicago. I would also like to thank Backstrom, Nolan, Koivu, Havlat for their autographs for the kids pictures and jerseys. And the whole team for the autographed sticks for my son and daughter. There is more but there is not enough time. Thanks again Andrew I can not thank you enough for what you have done for myself, Payton, Meghan, and Sylvie and I would like to thank the whole wild organization for a wonderful week spent in Minnesota.
Absolutely awesome. I took my 2 sons aged 17 and 9 years and we loved it. The Excel Energy Centre is a first class building and there is not a bad seat in the house. Great game and can't wait to watch the highlights on tape.
Was a great game to travel that distance to see. Have been to the Xcel center once before and is just a great place to see some real good hockey. Would go again and recomend it to my friends.
The facility was amazing! Enjoyed every aspect of the experience.
Amazing and friendly staff. Atmosphere was exciting.
The game was, what I thought it would be, a great experience. It would be a better visit, to staint paul Mn. to watch the wild, if when buying tickets a list of sugested hotels close to the Xcel Energy Center be available. We really did enjoy the game and the Xcel Energy Center is a great place for any event . The local people were also great, friendly and fun.
