Mother Mother did not disappoint. This is the third time I've seen them play at the Burt, and they killed it. They are one of those bands that is 10x better live. The energy they bring is electric. They suit a space like the Burt perfectly.

Great band with an amazing stage presence, I've seen them three times and each time they get better.

Meeting the band was incredible and an experience I will never forget.

  • Mother Mother was Great Great

Their recorded vocals are just as they sound in person. When they burst onto the stage with 'Free' their harmonized phrases were proved to be real and not engineered. Everyone loved 'Letter', whether they were familiar with it or not - by the end of that song, the entire venue was singing the lyrics. Obviously, 'Monkey Tree' was a huge hit with the crowd too. They started that song with a rumbling bass line that reverberated through the venue (just like the track itself on the album) before jumping into the whimsical, airy sounds above it. Personal favourite tracks of mine are 'The Drugs' and 'Ghosting'. Their track 'Wrecking Ball' had everyone dancing in circles as their voices soared over lead singer Ryan's acoustic guitar. Finally, 'Get Out the Way' was a strong anthem that everyone caught the words to very quickly as they shouted 'Get out the way, get out!' back to the 5-piece band onstage - an empowering end to a relaxed show with No Culture involved, whatsoever.

  • Excellent show

Kay Flay as the warm up was fantastic and Mother Mother put on there best show I seen to date. Sound was fantastic . Cant wait until they come back to town.. Hamilton place is a great venue for sound and the staff was fantatstic there

  • Great music

by jjjj1234 on 2017-03-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

The music and performance was great. However, people standing up in front of their seats, blocking views, alcohol throughout the venue during the show and people crowding into the aisle during the show doesn't appeal to me. I get that it's part of the atmosphere, but not for the NAC. Cell phones during the concert should be prohibited.

  • Mother Mother was truly amazing!!

I have never heard of Mother Mother until my friend showed me them. I heard their albums a few weeks before the concert and I can say that they sound AMAZING live (maybe a bit better than their album). It just sounds so raw and the vibe throughout the venue was just spectacular. I would definitely recommend it to someone who loves alternative rock.

VIP experience was awesome! Opening act and headliner were both fantastic!

  • Mother Mother was great, sound mixing wasn't..

by Marshsh on 2017-03-06National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

I would recommend going to see Mother Mother live, just not in the balcony at a theatre. The sound mixing would have been great if you were in the orchestra, but up in the mezzanine and balcony it was all bass. The overwhelming amount of bass and drums in the upper levels made it so that you couldn't hear anything the artists were saying. The only time you could properly hear vocals was when the drums were silent and the bass was low. Which wasn't often. I was quite upset but learned not to attend a concert in the balcony. Unfortunately I'm one that is unlikely to pay the orchestra prices, so it will be a while until I attend a concert at the NAC again.

  • Great venue, Amazing live

Mother mother is such a talented band. They blew me away live. The venue was small and intimate, I was surprised a band like mother mother was doing such a small show!

  • Mother Mother & USS: Best Concert Ever!

    by nwoods01 on 2015-09-10Hamilton - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Easily the best concert Ive ever been too. Went to see Mother Mother but was also impressed by USS and didnt realzie how many songs they have! But omg Mother Mother's new album live was the best thing ever! Opening with 'Have it out' was amazing with the bass. They played all my favourite songs across all albums.

I missed USS but Mother Mother was high energy and fun. Liked listening to the new album live, prefer it live.

Awesome concert in an amazing venue. These guys needs more recognition.

  • MM was totally ROCKIN! Line up...not so much.

by candimac on 2014-12-12Shaw Conference Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I had a fantastic time at the concert! Mother Mother was totally rockin and super fun to listen to/sing with. Was none too impressed with the extremely long line up to get in though (we gave up walking to the end after going about 3 or 4 blocks and it still didn't look like there was an end to it) we hit up a bar across the way to wait out the line. By the time we got in, we were right in time for Mother Mother, but had completely missed USS (really wanted to see them!). That made me a little upset, but Mother Mother brought our spirits up pretty quickly and the crowd there was awesome!

  • Both bands did amazing

by DevynCole on 2014-12-10Shaw Conference Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Mother Mother and U.S.S both had high energy shows that kept it fun and exciting. Venue however had crazzzzy long lines. Some people who showed up probably didn't see the opening act. I stood outside for a half hour to get in. Little surprised. And the side facing bleacher at Shaw Conference.... pretty crappy. Other than that no complains

  • The Mother of all shows

by Cutiescabhoodornament on 2014-12-07Shaw Conference Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I can't believe how good these guys (and gals) are!! They are intelligent, fun-loving, incredible musicians that can harmonize, play their instruments with authority, and most importantly: they rock. One of the best shows in a long time. They should be playing bigger (and better) venues.

USS were amazing! full of Energy! Wish they would of played longer. Mother Mother were really good and played a long set but it did get a little mellow for while.
