MOTLEY CRUE IN CONCERT:

After more than three decades of headbanging, heavy metal bad boys Motley Crue announced that 2015’s The Final Tour would be their last ever, giving fans one final opportunity to see Tommy Lee and company in the flesh before the curtain falls for good. The band has always been a revered live act for their showmanship and over-the-top performances, but their 2013 shows were their biggest and fieriest yet, featuring pyrotechnics beyond fans’ wildest dreams – including the late Nikki Sixx’s legendary flamethrower bass. With 72 North American dates in 2014 and international dates to follow, the Crue are doing it big in true form, burning bright to the very last guitar solo.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in LA in 1981 by guitarist Nikki Six and drummer Tommy Lee, Motley Crue was quickly rounded out with the addition of lead guitarist Mick Mars and singer Vince Neil. The band became notorious in the early ‘80s for their glam image and hard partying lifestyle, but it was 1983 sophomore album Shout at the Devil that made them international superstars. 1985’s Theatre of Pain and 1987’s Girls, Girls, Girls would prove even more successful, spawning ‘80s hard rock staples like “Smokin’ in the Boys Room” and “Home Sweet Home.” With 100 million albums sold worldwide, Motley Crue endures as one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time, making their 2014 farewell tour a bittersweet last hurrah for their legions of fans.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“Motley Crue still rules the rock scene after 30+ years of recording and performing. They played songs from virtually all albums and song selection was sure to please any Motley fan.”

“Motley ALWAYS delivers an amazing show. Seeing the Crue doing what they do best in Sin City couldn't have been any better. The pyro was over-the-top amazing.”

“This Motley Crue concert was the best Crue concert ever. The fire and pyros were awesome. They really outdid themselves. They sounded great too.”

    Excellent concert but…..

by Hh on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Excellent concert! Really enjoyed the bands! However getting into the stadium was ridiculous. Gates didn’t open until 3:30pm with a concert start time of 4:00pm. Somehow 20000 people (or so) were to be let in in a timely safe manner. The gate we came in, I had to argue with the security about the size of my purse ( it was 6 inches by 8 inches) I ended up just taking the items out and handing it to my husband, security didn’t bother to check anyone who didn’t have a purse nor did they actually ask to look-into my purse. All that seemed to matter was the size (which was bigger than what was allowed, but still not a big purse). I was told I would have to go and get a clear bag and go and stand in line again. Why didn’t they have any at the gate for people of it was such a big deal. I ended up with it anyways after emptying it and handing it to my husband. Not sure what the heck the point to all that was. Not to mention anyone without a purse could also be carrying something. No checks. Nada. None. If the gates were opened earlier, better checks could have been done. Ridiculous in today’s world.

    Excellent concert

by SJK on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The line up of music was excellent, I appreciated that the bands started on time and the sound was good. My only complaint would be the line- ups for food , drinks and especially t- shirts .

    Seriously rightous sounds

by RockerChick71 on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The shows went from superior to out of this world! Extra impressed with how fast the stages changed hands. That is NOT easy to coordinate! Finnaly got to see the bands which I grew up with. Hopefully they'll make another round.

    My happy place

by Mitch on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

I go to many concerts and as usual the bands put on a fantastic show! Things that sucked were not with the show. Huge lines for the merch tables… waited an hour and a half since on the floor was 1 table. Long food lines, drink lines were reasonable but stupid people would not let you leave the tables without spilling. Spilling occurred because the lids ran out in the first hour!

    Dreams do come true

by Tinnab on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The bands were all amazing! Well the 4 main ones were. A band called Classless Act was first. I heard they were good and was looking forward to seeing them but the venue didnt open until 3:30. Bands started at 4pm. How on earth do you squish 60000 people through the gates in 30min? It took us just over an hr to get through the crazy line and into our seats. Trying to get merchandise was a whole other issue. Lines were ridiculous the whole time. I had to decide which band i didnt want to hear much of and wait in line again. In total i waited i lunes for over 3 hrs. Would i do it sgain for a Stadium tour? Absolutely!!!

    Def Leppard Rocked!!!

by Gator on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett were all entertaining. Motley Crue would have been better if Vince Neil stayed retired. Mick Mars is still a good guitarist! Tommy is an awesome drummer. Nikki Sixx is a wicked bass 🎸 guitarist! But Vince sounds like Mickey Mouse!! I was on the field and the sound was good for all the bands. As I walked up the stairs to the back, the sound was carrying. Everything echoed!! The sound acoustics would have been horrible for the people in the nosebleeds!! Great day!! Hot 🥵 till about 6:00pm when the sun went down on the west side of the stadium!

    Reliving the 80’s.

by Robbi on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Awesome concert. Awesome bands. Awesome weather. A rainy day would of dampened the event.. Would love to see another Stadium tour... with different bands. Improvements... open the gates sooner to let people in. Also need more merchandise stands. Not enough stands for the amount of people there.

    Awesome concert

by DJ on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The bands were amazing I've waited 35 years for it. Having said that the venue probably wasn't the best. Not enough bathrooms and merchandise stands. Wasn't able to get a shirt because of the long line ups. The security was hit or miss. Some people had belongings confiscated and others weren't even checked. Should have been at Rogers place

    Def Leppard rules

    by K. S. on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

I sure wish when they hold an event like that to have more tents up for selling merchandise, most people there spent way to much time waiting in line, that’s where it needs to improve

    Stadium is garbage

by Kel on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The bands were amazing, couldn’t love them more. The stadium however was trash! The lineups insane, washrooms disgusting. Unless a legend plays there I will not return.

    The Stadium Tour

by Uncle Buck on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The show was great until Motley Crue came on. 65% of the 3 rows ahead of me left after the 3 rd song by the Crue.Def Leppard was awesome the sound was awesome glad the boys can still Rock. Poison was good but the sound was not. Joan Jett was good. I don’t have a hate for the crue saw them back when shout at the devil came out and followed them all these years. Vince needs to work on his voice if it was not for the back up singers it would have been disastrous. I know Vince is getting older but I look at other bands who always work on their vocals since they are older.

Poorly planned, poorly staffed, utter chaos

by Lou77 on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The concert itself sounded pretty good, but the event was so poorly staffed and organized that it ruined the entire experience. We stood in lines so long for beverages and merchandise that we missed two and a half of the four main acts. Literally sat in our seats for less than 2 hours of a 7 hour show. Commonwealth stadium in Edmonton Alberta should take notice and make major changes to their planning and staffing before hosting another major event like this.

    Sound issues

by Casey on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

We were sitting in the upper bowl. There was a constant repeat echo of whatever was being said or sung so we couldn’t understand anything. Finally left about halfway through Motley Crüe. Very frustrating after spending a lot of money to attend.

    Loved it!

by Joan on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

I must say that the concert itself was fantastic! Loved every minute of it! However more merchandise stands, what a waste of time standing in the lines.

    Amazing concert

    by J. E. on 2022-09-07Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Amazing concert and would totally go again!! Def Leppard stole the show and should have been the closing act in my opinion but everyone was fantastic. My only complaint is they didn't have enough merch tents. My son went and started to line up about 15 mins before Def Deppard expected to end (they played longer than expected) and I went and joined him about 15 mins later. My son wanted to be back for sure for Motley Crue entrance. We got back JUST as the Crue came on and didn't even get what we wanted for merch. I would think having basically a sold out venue and 4 headliners they would have had way more tents. The line-ups were insane and I don't think I should have to stand in line missing an hour and 15 minutes of the show. Other than that everything else was fantastic!!
