About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • My Chemical Romance was Stellar!

by HaringAlways on 2011-04-24Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The energy and enthusiasm between the band and the crowd was phenomenal! The show was outstanding and I can promise that I will be at every single Romance show every time they come to Toronto from here on in. Fantastic, glorious, wonderful-- loved loved loved it!

  • Amazing!

by silverhunter on 2011-04-22Métropolis - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

I left this concert simply exhausted, sweaty, with sore feet and ringing ears and entirely exhilarated from this concert. The venue (Metropolis) was entirely packed with people of all ages (tweens, teens, adults and even some older adults, too); there was no personal space left by the time Anti-Flag left the stage. When MCR came on stage, the crowd went wild, and began to dance. The energy was amazing; as MCR played old favourites and new tracks from Danger Days, the crowd lifted and swayed and rocked. I was surprised at the length of the concert itself, and how many songs they performed; as a fan, it was so appreciated to hear Vampires Will Never Hurt You to I'm not Okay to Mama to Na na na na, you didn't leave wishing they had played a certain song.

  • SIMPLY AMAZING!

by PLuc on 2011-04-22Métropolis - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

BEST SHOW EVER! I LOVED THE ENERGY AND THE SONGS! ANTI-FLAG AND THE ARCHITECTS WERE GOOD TOO :D!

  • the complete show

by Anonymous on 2011-04-22Métropolis - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

The show started at 8pm and the first opening band started. It was a good band, but not enough to make a mess hahaha. After 20min they stopped and the staff started preparing everything for anti flag, the other band. I was almost in the front, but when they came on stage everyone started pushing, so i got to the front, just four people in front of me. That band was really cool, the drummer played inside the crowd (yes, they put the drums in the audience and he played the last song there). Even though i didnt know any of their songs, their performance was really cool. The singer approached to the crowd several times and everything. They played for another 20min. Then, the fun began. The staff started preparing everything for MCR, they put the drums and the helmet, everyone started yelling. Then a hairy dude came on stage and took picures from us :D which now are on their facebook page. The pushing was harder and harder, anyone was getting hurt but i stepped on everyone around me hahaha. You couldn't bring your arms down because there was any space. Everyone was upon you. I almost fell several times, and the girl in front of me was getting mad because i was too close to her -.- we all had that problem! and MCR hadn't showed yet. So, the lights turned on, and we all started yelling. Look alive sunshine started, and the crowd was crazy! we were yelling so loud that i could't hear the music hahaha And then...MCR entered to the stage *-* the pushing got even worse, it was so tight that we couldnt even jump! NaNaNaNa was playing and everyone was trying to get their best shot of gerard (i was in the middle) it was so hot there! a guy was throwing us water to cool down hahaha and there were some girls who where taken off the crowd. And the show was just starting. I looked around me and there were some girls really scared xD they were crying because of the pushing hahaha The intro was amazing *-* i was getting sick...i was suffocating so i changed place... The entire concert they had an incredible energy! They showed the the canadian flag, and even better, the quebec flag!!! we were all so happy :D But even though this was an amazing show, there were some things that i didnt like :/ Ray never moved form his place, in between the songs the group turned their back to us. But the thing that i didn't like the most, was at the end. The last song was Bulletproof heart after the song, gerard stopped singing, yelled a 'thank you' like he did every time in between songs, and went away -.- while frank, mikey and ray just leaved their guitars and went away without saying a word. After they leaved, the staff started trowing the plums (the thing they use to play the guitar ¿?) and i got mine :D i have the one from frank iero, i didnt get the chance to get another ): This concert was the best! the sound was amazing! the band had a lot of energy! they played all their greatest hits, and even one old song :D if you have the change to go to one of their concerts, GO! its definitely worth all the pushing, the yelling, the...everything! they have a lot of talent, im really happy that i got to see them, this will be forever in my memory, and if they come again, i will go without hesitating :D After the show, the anti flag drummer was there and signed my ticket and i took a picture with him :D this was so awesome!

  • My Chemical Romance was ok

by Ssantos on 2011-04-22Métropolis - MontrealRating: 3 out of 5

I love love love this band but i found that it was long for them to start playing i mean i had gone to see theyr show in 2007 at the Bell Center and i dont recall being this long for them to start playing specially now that i mooved and live much much further. There shold ony be one opening band with no more then 3 song because you dont pay to see those guys you pay to see the main event (My Chemical Romance) and because it was so long and i had so many alergies there for some reason i had to leave at the 5th song because i couldnt take it anymore standing up like that and that really upset me cause it's my band adn the show for me got ruined why i give 3 points it's because i at least got to see them perform 4 whole songs.

  • by Anonymous on 2011-04-22Métropolis - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

I missed them 4 years ago. Glad I was able to see them this time around. It confirmed why MCR is one of ( if not the one) my favorite band! Loved them. Everything was perfect. A bit sad they didnt play Sing and Famous Last Word. Gerard is awesome!

  • MCR was awesome

  • MCR are awesome live!

    by Mightyshortone3 on 2011-04-22Métropolis - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

It was really fun, i cant believe they played Mama! I was so excited. They played every song i wanted except Sing. My friends and I were having a blast. It more fun obviously when your with a huge group of best friends xD. Its the best concert i've been to. It was funny when they showed our quebec flag after canadian flag. Gerard's like "i get it You guys are like Texas. I get it." and "you guys got prettier, us too" xD

  • better than the last time

by Anahita on 2011-04-22Métropolis - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

I LOVED the concert! it was absolutely amazing and i found that gerard interacted with us. and his voice is amazing live just like it is on the CD's. I also liked that they sang lots of old songs that i love! the last time they came, they were awesome but this time it was 100 times better! i definitely recommend going to one of their concerts!!!

Opening bands were good but really enjoyed My Chemical Romance.

  • One of the most amazing nights of my life!

by Emmers on 2011-04-21Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

First off, this isn't my first MCR concert, but it was my favourite performance by them. It started off being just a night for me (a die-hard MCR fan) and one of my best friends going to a concert together. She wasn't that excited at first, but as the night of the concert drew closer, she got more and more excited. Closer to the date, I decided I would surprise my other best friend, also a die-hard MCR fan, with tickets to her first ever MCR concert for her sweet sixteen. The surprise went amazingly and when she found out where we were going, she was so excited!! The three of us waiting outside along with everyone else in rain and hail for the doors to open and for us to finally be let in. The opening bands were pretty good (my favourite of the two was the first band that played, called 'Architects'). The moshing wasn't so bad (thankfully!) and when My Chemical Romance finally came on, the three of us were screaming, jumping, and excited beyond words. The entirety of the concert was absolutely amazing, just as MCR always is live. Every song sounds just like it does on their CDs and you can tell that they put their all into making the night memorable for everyone. When 'Cancer' finally came on, I cried because it was so emotional. It is the most beautifully meaningful song ever to be written, in my opinion. Overall, the night ended perfectly and the band was amazing. I would recommend for EVERYONE to go out at MCR's next concert and see them!

  • 4th time still amazing!

by partypoison on 2011-04-21Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

EXCELLENT SHOW! If you've never seen them before GO! even if your not the biggest fan, go see them they put on an excellent show. I've seen them 4 times in the past 6 years and they're consistently amazing everytime! Also really enjoyed seeing them at a smaller venue you were basically close no matter where you stood. Awesome as always. left soaking wet, could barely stand with no voice, which is the way it should always be!

  • My Chemical Romance is amazing

by Anonymous on 2011-04-21Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was insane. Definiteltly one of the best I have ever been too.

  • Toronto Loves MCR

by Joansie on 2011-04-21Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing show! So great to see the boys that close...wish I were taller however! Went with my two sons and their friends. Have been a fan since the Black Parade. Absolutely love MCR! The first show for my 12-year old. He loved it. They sounded awesome, looked even better.

  • Disappointed

    by Ange1980 on 2011-04-21Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I don’t mind the new album, it’s different but o.k. I am disappointed that MCR sold their older fans short by not playing much off of the Black Parade Album. The singer, Gerard Way, stated “I’m glad the old fans are being nice to the new fans”….I think MCR should have been nice to the old fans as well. I was not impressed by all the 13 year old girls; I felt like I was at a NKOTB concert.

  • Romance With Chemicals

    by bayoubunny66 on 2011-04-20Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Dark lyrics: light atmosphere! The boys, in person don't seem as broody. They want to connect and tell us their problems, and the problems of the world, real people, and vampires! Excellent musicianship, angst-stained vocals, and passionate lighting combined to make for a memorable event.

  • Great Show

by Anonymous on 2011-04-13Edmonton Event Centre. - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I'll begin by saying I'm not the biggest MCR fan. I like some of their songs, but save for a couple, I'm not extremely familiar with their catalogue. I went to the concert because of someone else, and I figured 'why not?' since I don't mind them. With that said... They sure put on an amazing show. I was initially worried, that just because I don't know a lot of their music, I might not enjoy the show so much. That wasn't the case at all. From the moment they first took the stage and went right into Na Na Na, I knew that they were all business. These guys were for real. They kept up the quality of their performance, and even songs that I wasn't familiar with, I still found myself really enjoying. Now after the show, I've looked up their setlist and have added it to my iPod, so I can start listening to them more, as I clearly have been missing out. I wasn't overly fond of Neon Trees, and Architects were alright, but MCR made up for them easily. My only real complaint would be the size of the venue. It was a little small, and frankly I am no fan of the Edmonton Event Centre. Next time they come through, I hope that they can move up to play the Shaw, or maybe even Rexall, because if anything would keep me from going again, it would be the location of the show. Bottom line: I'd recommend seeing them if you enjoy their music (even just a couple songs, like me), and I would definitely consider seeing them again.
