I, first, saw My Morning Jacket on Austin City Limits. I thought these guys were pretty cool, combining vestiges of southern rock, folk rock and the blues. I ended up purchasing as many CDs as possible, to get a better sense of their music. Nothing could prepare me for the concert, on July 12th. Led by their charismatic frontman Jim James, My Morning Jacket rocked out the house. As soon as they appeared on stage, the concert became a pedal to the metal rock odyssey. Essentially, dispensing with any chitchat, between songs, once they launched into the first song (Victory Dance), it was non-stop rock and roll, until the last tune was completed, two hours and forty minutes later. I was extremely impressed by their energy, and their talent. Opening act Jake and the Leprechauns were, also, in great form, and proved to be a formidable lead-in, to one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Being three rows from the stage, made this event even more memorable.
