New Jersey Devils History
The New Jersey Devils were born in 1982, the third incarnation of a franchise that began as the Kansas City Scouts (1974-76) before spending six years in Denver as the Colorado Rockies. The arrival of president/general manager Lou Lamoriello in 1987 started the franchise's rise to the NHL elite. The Devils made the playoffs in 21 of the next 24 seasons, including five trips to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Devils made it as far as the conference finals in the 1987-1988 and 1993-1994 seasons, preparing them for their historic run the following year in which they won their first Stanley Cup Championship, sweeping the Detroit Red Wings.
The Devils returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2000, dispatching the Dallas Stars in six games on an iconic double-overtime Cup-clinching goal by Jason Arnott. The next season, as the best offensive team in the NHL, they returned to the Final.
The Devils' stretch of dominance was far from over, though. They won their third Stanley Cup Championship in 2003, spoiling the Anaheim Ducks’ first-ever playoff run with a Game 7 shutout orchestrated by Martin Brodeur. To date, the club has won three Stanley Cup Championships and five Eastern Conference Championships.
In 2022, the Devils returned to the second round of the playoffs — their first time since 2011. Led by young stars Jack Hughes and Nico Hischer, the Devils defeated their long-time rivals the New York Rangers in the first round, before losing their next series to the Carolina Hurricanes.

NICE GAME, NICE PEOPLE, NICE SEATS (CONFORTABLE), NICE VIEW, NICE CENTER... WOW| MONTREAL WON WOOT WOOT!
Very impressed with Prudential centre. Enjoyed the game.
Did enjoy the game and people overthere. Great place and very nice people. Meal just next to us and easy to move.
Maybe the new jersey devils are not the best team of the east conference right now, but when you love hockey, you can like this game. Even if there wasn't a lot of fans over there (there was a blizzard outside...) , the spirit of hockey was at the game.
For the first time ever I decided to follow the Redwings to an away game. Since people I knew lived close to Newark NJ the Devils prudential centre seemed appropriate. The arena is beautiful, great sound and lighting and of course every seat is a great sea since the shape of the arena is planned out to perfection. Easy to find parking ( just about everything around the centre is parking lots) You will have great fun. I did Detroit even won!!
Nice Arena and very excellent game, we won The hockey game.
We really loved the Prudential Center. Ticket prices are quite reasonable and the set up of the arena is well done. We would definitely go back!
We were in New York City on a bus tour and thought we would go to the game. We took the train from Penn station Manhatten to Newark Penn station. We had heard that the arena was in a bad part of town and not safe but found it to be quite safe and actually pretty nice. We had a great time at the game. The building is amazing.... was worth the trip just to see the arena.
Prudential centre is awesome, staff is great. Lots of Habs fan to the game, outstanding event.
really nice game !!! good ice rink !!! good people in nj.... easy to buy, easy to get there....
The devils game was a great experience, i wouldnt recommend people walking around the area of where the rink was as it seemed to be a rough part of the city, but our seats were awesome and could see everything you wanted to see. The devils fans curse an awful lot and maybe this isnt the rink to take your younger kids to.
I thought the NJ Devils fans were great. They are passionate about their team. I'm a Penguins fans, and it was still fun even though so many of the people around me hated my team.
awsome, good atmosphere in the building, good fans
Being Canadian, I know what hockey is all about. I found out real hockey fans in Newark, N.J.. Great fans, great team! And I witnessed the Brodeur's 105th shutout! And the Prudential Center, simply amazing, beautiful. Go Devils Go!
I was pretty excited to see the game from what looked like close seats and they should have been for $218 American. The really disappointing thing was half of the lower level seats were empty. Why doesn't the team sell the seats at a reduced cost to fill the stadium or give people the option for a free upgrade. Move lower level ticket holders down near glass and upper bowl first few rows to lower level and so on and so on. Just really glad I didn't buy $450 tickets lame seats & lame atmosphere and really expensive beer.
