  • OHL Hockey at its best !!!!

The Arena may be small and outdated, but what an incredible hockey atmosphere !!! Ice Dogs win in OT 2-1.... This crowd of 3100+ spectators rocked the ice loose. Louder then some NHL games I've been too..... But..... Can't wait for the new arena, for our home town Dogs !!!

Great play from all IceDogs, especially Visentin. Congratulations Eastern League champions.

The game was well played, lots of hard hitting, fast paced action from a dominant OHL team.

It's a small arena with a big heart. We enjoy ourselves every time we're there.

  • Ice Dogs played as bad as my seat!

by sportfan on 2011-04-27Gatorade Garden City Complex - St. CatharinesRating: 3 out of 5

Can get over the fact that the Ice Dogs played poorly as they were playing a very good St Mikes team but the fact that the Ice Dogs sold a seat that is not even listed on the rinks list is something that is hard to get over. My ticket was Section K which is actually area M??? seat 9 and 10. They have seat # 9 but then the numbers stop and start at I think # 14. This is because there is a very large I beam covering this area where seats # 10-13 would be. Being playoff hockey they try to sell every inch of the place. One fellow a few feet down had a ticket ( not listed ) behind a ladder. Beer was cold so were the Ice Dogs. 6-1 St Mikes.

Ice Dogs played a tremendous game against Petes. It was end-to-end hockey, with few fights.

OHL hockey has always been a level of hockey that is most apealing to me. These kids play without large contracts and with something to prove. The St. Catharines Gatorade Garden City Complex is a venue that is outdated, unaccommodating and nonfunctional. Today's OHL team demands a slightly larger (but not too large) arena that is functional with regards to customer movement, comfort (especially for persons with disabilities) and accessibility to concessions. Keeping the ambiance of the "old barn" in the newer facility has always been troublesome but with the right acoustics, it can be done. Let's get out of the early 1900's and into the year 2010 St. Catharines!
