About

Nine Inch Nails are a progressive, Grammy-winning industrial rock band composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio as a solo project for singer, songwriter and producer Trent Reznor in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have released 11 studio albums, six EPs and three remix albums, starting with 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine and breakout debut singles “Down In It” and “Head Like a Hole.” For 1992’s Broken EP, NIN reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while its standout record “Wish” won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. In the midst of hitting No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 1994’s The Downward Spiral and 1999’s The Fragile, respectively, NIN released Hot 100-charting singles “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” and earned a second Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 1996 ceremony for “Happiness in Slavery.” Nine Inch Nails went on hiatus until the 2005 chart-topper With Teeth, then hit the Hot 100 again with singles “The Hand That Feeds” and “Only,” and later with “Survivalism" from their 2007 follow-up Year Zero. Longtime collaborator and English producer Atticus Ross became an official member of NIN in 2016, established with a trilogy of releases culminating in 2018’s Bad Witch. As composers, the duo have earned two Academy Awards, two Grammys and one Emmy. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. NIN also composed the score for the 2025 film Tron: Ares.

  • A Fine Farewell

Street Sweeper got things pumping. Nine Inch Nails delivered an always great show and Jane's Addiction was a nice end to an awesome show. Always good to see an active and diverse crowd. Will miss Nine Inch Nails to no end.

  • the thundering sounds of trent reznor

by ahbengo on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Nine Inch Nails were great. Rather predictable but not disappointing! Jane's addiction had amazing lights and communicated with the crowd better, though I believe most people were there to see NIN. In fact, most were surprised when they realized it was NIN who was opening for Jane's addiction, and not the other way around. I was on the lawn, where people were more shy and less rowdy. I wanted to jump around and express my excitement but because other people were more 'observant', it held me back from doing so. It was a chilly but sunny day, so the view was vast and nice. I could have used more energy, but I cannot expect perfection for $40. Still, I had alot of fun and NIN is awesome!

  • NIN/Jane's Show Toronto

by Rherhe on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

A little weird to see NIN with the sun shining but they were still amazing. Jane's was equally amazing. What a great night!!!!!!!!!

  • Jane's stole the show

by kingdom on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

NIN were good as usual but seeing Jane's really made me miss the days when rock was getting artistic and emotional and raw. They r just the best. I hope to see them again. Especially with the original members. They aren't the same without Eric!!!

  • Nine Inch Nails, Killer as always

by demonios on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I went to the Molson Ampitheatre in Toronto to see Nine Inch Nails for the second time around. Of course, since I had seen them last time they were in town, which was sometime near the end of last year, I went in expecting something great. I knew the type of show they played: their light-works, and mainly the raw energy that not only the performers had but that came straight from the music itself. I was eager to listen to the known fan-pleasers like Closer or Terrible Lie. But all my expectations were shattered the second the music started. To kick everything off Street Sweeper Social Club - by far the best opening band I have ever seen at any concert – started to jam, with Tom Morello wailing in his usual style on the guitar and Boots Riley on vocals. After they hyped the crowd enough with their surprisingly awesome riffs and solos, NIN came on to take care of things. And like I said before, they blew away any expectations that anyone had of them. They were in control of the stage and played a set list that brought some of Trent's most awesome and unique work to life: Mr. Self-Destruct, I’m afraid of Americans, Burn, I Do Not Want This, Heresy, Metal – these were just some of their best among a huge set list of bests. As for the show itself, the fact that I was sitting way out back and that the venue was outdoors did not impede their lights and laser shows. Their intensity was not only seen but felt - for example during Mr. Self-Destruct the lights were shining so fast it seemed as if the stage was having violent convulsions and the ground would soon shatter from the intensity of the whole scene. Of course none of that happened, but somewhere in between Trent's savage lyrics, the deafening blast of the music coming from every side of the arena, the frenzy of what seemed like hungry sharks down in the mosh-pit, and the surrealist lights that danced along to the beat of the drums the entire arena seemed to be taken by the music and it appeared as if the ground and the chairs were dancing too. No one sat down; there was madness and motion in every direction, and no one had the patience to sit down. The entire experience was bewildering and exhausting. As always Nine Inch Nails did not dissapoint and performed a 5-star show. I myself am not a fan of Jane’s Addiction and so after NIN left the stage my friends and I hit the nearest bar where the beer was colder and cheaper.

  • Nine Inch Nail-ed it!

by glaurius on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Awesome show - nothing less than what I had expected.. but nothing more, either. A lot of the songs were from the latest album.

  • Perry has still got it!

  • NINJA was top 3

    by CX123 on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

NIN was heavy and fast, 1st time seeing them and they rocked. Jane's was playful and fun, doing songs from every CD. If the same concert came again, I would totally buy tics.

  • It was okay.

by unforgettablenickname on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The opening band, Street Sweeper Social club was very lively and enjoyable. I truly went to the concert to see Nine Inch Nails and the performance seemed half-hearted. I saw them several months prior at Copps Coliseum where I had been blow away by their live show. It just wasn't the same the second time around. I had never been a huge Jane's Addiction fan, only knowing their radio hits, but no man can rock a corset like Perry Farrell. I was pleasantly surprised that even though I didn't know a lot of the songs, the entertainment value was huge and Jane's Addiction put on a great show.

  • NiNJA was OK..

by machstem on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The venue was decent, but parking was a horrendous experience. I did not enjoy watching NiN in daylight, and the show felt rushed...only to follow into Jane's Addiction. I was hoping for the opposite. Needless to say, of the dozens of NiN shows I have attended, this was by far the worst. PEACE

  • The last nin tour sucked!

by Smudgrey on 2009-07-13DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 2 out of 5

I have seen Nine Inch Nails several times many different tours for over the years. My all time favourite band. If I ever get another opportunity to see them it will not be in the daylight. I was so disappointed considering it was suppose to be the last tour. However the sound was amazing. Reznor doesn't usually mess that up. I found them boring and it seemed like they don't care anymore and gave up on NIN. Jane's Addiction however rocked DTE and now I have a better appreciation for them and bought their albums.

  • nine inch takes the show toronto WAVE GOODBYE TOUR

  • Kick ass!

by Spud on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Show was awesome..better than I expected..kick ass! A bit chilly though NIN should have played second and not first

  • NIN blew me away

by mendog on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

First, Tom Morello and Boots Riely were a sick opening band. Boots is very entertaining and never stops moving around. He just looks like a cool dude and he's a badass singer. Tom Morello was shredding with his teeth, and at one point you could see the sweat from his bald head condensing, so it looked like he was steaming! NIN came on after and I said to my gf who was with me halfways during their set that if I was deaf, this concert would have been worth it just because of the lights. Great light show timed perfectly with the songs! It was a NIN concert for true fans, my only wish is that they closed out the show and that they played closer. If I could go see them again in Toronto I would have double to triple to what I paid for this event. Janes Addiction was an awesome live band, but I'll be honest after NIN i didnt even care who was on next, I almost couldnt take in what just went happened. But Dave Navarro is a sick guitarist and the drummer was awesome too. First time Ive seen Janes Addiction and Id go see them again after seeing this. In fact, leaving the event i heard a ton of people saying Janes Addiction stole the set.

  • Great show, but...

by NINTOOLfan on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great. Street Sweeper was an excellent opening act. Nine Inch Nails, as always, was amazing and blew me away. Too bad Jane's Addiction headlined though, so I left once NIN finished. NIN is a headlining band, not a support act. A short set list does not do justice to what NIN deserves, not to mention NIN is not meant to be watched in daylight. But overall the show was amazing for what I stayed for. Too bad this is how a headlining band like NIN is going to finish out his career... as a support act to Jane's Addiction...

  • NIN JA . No Review is needed.

by AndyManCan on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Seriously, It was like Ninja's holding a rock concert! It was amazing, NIN roccked like alwasy, and Jane's Addiction put on a sweet follow up show. I was very happy with the perfomances. Favourit Moment was Mr. Self Destruct, where Trent almost kills himself and then ends up on his ass, in the middle of the stage, probably slightly dazed, but he still just kept rocking.

  • awesome!

by katelee on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

we loved the show - NIN were awesome as usual and jane's addiction were super incredible. loved it!!!
