    ONCE

by disappointed2011 on 2015-11-25Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

WONDERFUL performance. Lead characters had fantastic voices. At times it was difficult to hear the dialogue, as voices were lowered and volume did not carry to the balcony area. The toe tapping and foot stomping along other string instruments lead to hand clapping by the audience. I would have liked to. see the lead male/female characters receive their own standing ovation, The guy and girl both gave extremely strong performances.

    Great show

by Horndrix on 2015-11-25Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Really entertaining. Very talented cast. The lead male was a great singer-not so great actor. The sound quality was poor for a professional musical. Go see it!

We watch musicals all the time and this was the first time we didn't enjoy ourselves. So boring.

If you love all things Irish...

by Sloughgirl on 2015-11-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

From the preshow walkabout on stage through the gradual beginning of the show via music, this is a show that will delight anyone who loves music, especially that of an Irish bent. The cast is small, but all play an integral part as the cast is the orchestra and the orchestra is the cast. A must see

    OK

by Jaun on 2015-11-24Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

It was OK, but I had expected more. Perhaps the fact that I had seen Glen Hansard the previous week impacted my enjoyment of Once.

    Unique Musical Production

by Snoo2 on 2015-11-23Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

This production was totally different from any other musical I have seen. It was delightful, the cast/performance(s) were excellent and the story line was uplifting. Always a pleasure to enjoy some humour as well.

    Great Show!

by RobQ on 2015-11-23Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Had a great time at Once. i bought tickets for my wifes birthday (earned lots of brownie points) Didn't know anything about the storey, so i was totally surprised. I loved how the actors were the musicians as well, what a talented group. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Make sure you bring some cash for the open bar up (beer wine) on stage before the show...worth it (I wont spoil the surprise what happens on stage before the show)

Was not what I was expecting.

by Deee2282 on 2015-11-23Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I have seen many off Broadway tours and this is my least favorite. I found the show to be very slow at points and repetitive. The show seemed to be created around one song which was sung at least 4-5 times, if not more.

This production was disappointing. The lead roles had wonderful voices and musical ability but the script was weak and the acting among the cast tended to be stiff and stilted. Timing was off for me, long delays between delivery of lines when characters were in conversation. There were a couple of humorous moments but most of the jokes were formulaic and predictable. The venue felt too large for this play, it did not play well from a distance. Bigger productions I have seen from a similar seat (Andrew Lloyd Webber, ballet, etc.) have filled the theatre but watching this one from the side of the Dress Circle felt a bit like watching a tv from the side through a store window. Perhaps the show became great after intermission but my husband and I left so I cannot say. I expected much more from an award-winning Broadway play.

    My first musical

by snugglepuss on 2015-11-22Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I went to this show, 19 nov 2015. My FIRST musical. I took my lady friend. I went for her. I did not expect to get what I got. It was AMAZING. I loved the music. I am an amateur / experienced guitarist and sort of beginner piano player. The music MOVED me. I loved it. I bought CD's at half time so I could learn a song or two. I compared the show when I got home to the CD's I bought, which were recorded from the original broadway show . I liked the vancouver music as well or better than the stuff on the cd for many songs!!! Well done!

    Unexpectedly Perfect

by mgeglevan on 2015-11-22Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Once was wonderful. I went in with no expectations, knowing it would be a little different from most musicals I has seen, and I will say it was different. Those differences, however, made it a unique treat; it was fresh, extremely funny, heartwarming, and beautiful. The music was exceptionally good, and the performers voices were honestly some of the best voices I have ever heard. Overall, it was Perfect!

    ONCE seen, ONCE believed

by conniemcc59 on 2015-11-20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Despite hearing little about it beforehand, I was as they say in Ireland gobsmacked. Humor, drama and some incredible songs. The leads were great but were surrounded by multi-talented musicians also. Highly recommended.

    a must see ..

by Anonymous on 2015-11-19Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

some dropping of the F-bomb but fitted in with the street language of some scenes to make it realistic. A drinking irish lad is not going to say "golly-gee" excellent story, great music, funny and very entertaining
