    Once was unforgettable!!!

by canislupvse on 2015-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Once is a wonderful story with a gorgeous set and music. The actors are all the musicians in the band, they all help move the set pieces, and they all work together to make a beautiful story.

    Once...

by DG42 on 2015-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Another amazing production by Broadway Across Canada! Very well done. Not as well known (even though it is a Tony winner) as some productions but I would recommend this show to anyone who enjoys live musical theatre. Maybe Once will have to be Twice...

A beautiful love story set to music

by michd74 on 2015-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I sent my daughters 11 & 16 to this musical expecting the 11 year old would love and my 16 year old would have mixed reviews. The opposite happened. My eleven year old was bored but my 16 year old thought it was fantastic, she loved the characters and how their love story developed through their mutual love for music.

    Disappointing experience

by Pyramus on 2015-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The primary disappointment was the quality of the sound. I could not decide whether it was the accents of the actors (everyone has an accent), the balance between instrument and voice, actors speaking too quickly or not clearly enough, or something else. The dialogue was difficult to follow, and understanding the songs was a challenge. On the other hand, the talent of the actors/musicians was evident and we enjoyed that element of the show. The story felt like it had significant gaps at times and temptations to go in other directions.

Great story. However music was too quiet! Especially for people in the balconies. Could barely hear the guitar and could not make out ANY lyrics whatsoever. We kept waiting for some big explosion of music and emotion and it never happened... slow.

    Once was enough !

by RavensMommy on 2015-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I wanted so badly to love this show, in the end, I would have settled to like it but unfortunately it fell short in many ways. While I enjoyed the talented cast, and liked that they stayed on the stage throughout the performance, character development was lacking. I didn't care enough about any of the characters to become invested in their struggles. Most of the songs were extremely difficult to understand - this might have been because we were sitting so close to the stage but I am inclined to think it is more because the male lead didn't enunciate his words clearly. The music, while screechy at times, was passable but didn't add to the story. It was like they picked a few songs they wanted to sing and built a story around them - and not a very convincing story at that. Bright spots were the darling female lead - she was great, and the staging which was interesting and inventive. I was extremely turned off by the sales pitch during the curtain call and the collecting of charitable donations at the exit of the theatre. While I think that the cause was worthy, the price of the tickets made it difficult to justify the request for additional money from the audience. Very poor taste in my opinion!

    Lovely Wee Show

by Doneton on 2015-11-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Great show - lovely actors and good story. The only thing was we brought our Dublin granny to see it and she was taken aback with all the cursing! :)

    Love the Story

by ElizabethAnne on 2015-11-14Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Enjoyed this show very much, with a dear friend. I love the music from Once, and the cast didn't disappoint in the musical interpretation of the original. The casting was spot on, lively and funny. The shifting stage was well done. I liked everything about the show.

Once - great play and music was marvelous

by slim12 on 2015-11-14Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Once is well done and the stage set is outstanding. Our experience was diminished because of the sound quality. However the actor's performance was marvelous and the music was great.. Story line is very good. The opportunity to get on the stage prior to the performance and get a first hand feel of the set and to be made to feel a part was a good experience.

by KOPITE on 2015-11-14Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

What a fantastic performance of such a simple story of boy meets girl. I was totally swept up in the story and the beautiful songs & lyrics, I loved every minute of it and could have watched it all again. Well done to the cast of Once, every one of you were superb!

    Incredibly Boring with Poor Seating

by Jimmi1 on 2015-11-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My sister and I went to this show to celebrate our birthdays. We are women in our 50's and 60's and found this show to be so boring. At one point we both almost fell asleep. To make matters worse, our view was obliterated by cast members sitting on the stage directly in front of us. There were times when we could not see anything but the back of someone sitting on a chair. I believe that the set people need to take a look at this. We were LC, Row CCC, the end seats. These were the highest priced seats! I am not blaming the actors/musicians/singers as they were all talented folk. This is just not a real interesting story, nor is the music all that appealing!

    Great musical!

by Momforcedtogo on 2015-11-12Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I took my 2 daughters and a friend to Once for my daughters 16th birthday. Knowing nothing about the show going in, the teenage girls were a little worried with the "jam session" at the start of the show. Once the actual musical started we all really enjoyed the music and the show! The talent of the musicians on stage was very impressive as all the music is preformed live on stage with out the aid of an orchestra. The only drawn back to the show was the foul language through out which was really is not necessary!
