    Outlaw Fest Bangor 2019

by AllieinCanadaland on 2019-06-17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

The venue has great sound and it looked like you’d be hard pressed to find a bad seat in the place! The performers were great and I was very happy with the lineup ! I wanted to love the Paviliion having received great e mails in the days leading up to the show with food offering menus and beer and drink lists- I thought this sounds super organized and like it’s going to be done really well ! The bars were not an issue and we were casual drinkers having three or four drinks each ( cider and beer and wine ) amongst our group. There was a fantastic little wine shop on site and we got a great bottle of wine with three plastic mason jars for not much more than three so so glasses somewhere else - so that was awesome ! I’m still disappointed in outdoor shows in the warmer seasons, that fail to provide good water stations. I don’t mind paying four dollars for a bottle of water that I need - I do mind all the plastic that gets tossed when folks should be able to bring their own bottle to fill up as needed! Hangout fest does this and partnered with Camelback -so that everyone had access to water at the venue. Please do this -it makes everyone feel well and they’ll still spend money on food, merch and drinks!! The food was disappointing - there was only one food vendor station open and the lineups were bananas. From the e mails I had gotten it sounded like there were multiple food spots depending on what you wanted to eat, it was disappointing that this was not the case and we would have eaten more if the lineups were not an hour wait . The other issue we encountered was the smoking policies which we didn’t know ahead of time- we had one smoker in our group and there was no smoking area anywhere. Well official one anyhow -people were standing at the stairs smoking and vaping which didn’t give anyone a choice but to walk through it to get to the stands. My friend is not a rule breaker and refused to smoke as she asked the security and he told her no smoking anywhere on site- which was definitely not what we witnessed. I mean it’s a Willie Nelson concert - there was lots of smoke !! Please find an area for people to smoke or allow them to leave and come back in to do so,otherwise it’s just wherever they want to and that was much worse for the non smokers in the end ! So a few issues with the venue setup but none with the musicians. It was a bucket list to see these folks and it was not a disappointment !

Willie was great, but should have sung his own songs

by mike on 2019-06-17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

We didn't care to much for Phil Leash and friends 2 hours to long then Willie (the main one) not quite an hour. To many acts at once

The entire show, venue atmosphere was great. First time at Darlings Waterfront Pavilion. We found it fantastic. Beer was expensive. Will definitely go back for future shows.

It was awesome to see Willie play with both his sons, Phil and Friends were amazing. The Revivalists, Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real and Particle Kid were fantastic as well.

    Willie and friends

by DebDane on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Willie Nelson was awesome! The other bands were just ok, I am not into guitar solos. Have to give Guest Services at Budweiser Stage for looking after our scooter and wheelchair service to our seats a great big thank you!

    Outlaw festival

by Gigfy on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

I bought my tickets based on advertised line-up but multiple acts were removed. Dissappointed that Lukas Nelson and the promise of the Real didn't attend as that was my main reason for the purchase. Venue could also use a wind break for the seating area.

    Very enjoyable event. Tudeschi-Trucks outstanding!

by Verdon on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

This was a terrific show. The venue is good and not hard to access. There is nearby parking, though it is a little expensive. Seats were great and somewhat affordable. All of the acts were exemplary. The Tedeschi-Trucks band was quite possibly the best band I've ever seen. All-in-all a great experience! One major disappointment was my treatment by staff on there way in. I am a 58 year old respectable looking, aging hippy. I was made to empty my pockets and then frisked. I had a small pocket-knife in my pocket, as I have had since I've been 5 or 6 years old. The pocket knife is NOT illegal. I was told to walk back to my car and return (20 minute walk each way) or leave my pocket-knife at the gate, in a bin, with all the confiscated flasks. I opted for that. Upon leaving and going to retrieve it, it was of course gone. A different staffer told me I should not have been told I could leave it there in the first place. So, count this a lesson learned - a $45 lesson. I understand why it was done, but if the venue is going to have different rules than the rest of society, there should have been a warning on the ticket. Terrific concert though!

    Outlaw Music Festival

by BDRouting on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

spent $300.00 to take my niece to see Willy Neslon… while Willy was very entertaining it was disappointing that he only played for 45 mins. the opening act - while was good- was a local from Hamilton,. the next act Sturgill Simpson was really good and we actually went to the apparel booth to buy his CD. There was none. It was a lot of money spent on a show that in my opinion was over priced.

    Mismatch styles, no cohearance

    by Disappointed67 on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Let's start off....Budweiser Stage is only good for summer concerts. It was cold and windy...start to a bad day. Tara Lightfoot was good and she is an excellent player, but not really in line with the billing of the show. She is straight up guitar rock. Sturgill Simpson was next, and although I REALLY like him it was more of the same. He is a FABULOUS guitar player with a great voice, but again, his twang was gone...no pedal steel...and he has a great voice but it was drowned out by the guitar and drums. Couldn't hear a word he was saying. Now the Tadeschi Trucks Band...I could not have imagined a worse fit for this event. 2 rock guitar acts and now a big band self indulgent jazz/blues thing. Each song was a 10 minute long exhibition of individual players doing off beat jazz solos which serve no one but themselves and pretentious bearded hipsters. They are without question good musicians and they never let you forget it. On to Willy...He is 85 years old so the fact he is out there at all is amazing but the first 30 mins was nothing more than spoken word stuff...there was little to no singing. His guitar "riffs" were disjointed and out of time (maybe the influence of the previous band). He sang his classic tunes in that first weird half which was a shame...he seemed to hit his stride after 30 minutes but by then it was an uphill climb. He really just seemed to mail it in. So much so he played the same song twice...within about 10 minutes of each other. I love you Willy but I think it's time to hang it up.

    Love Willy but...

by Katandchris on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

So of course Willie was great The music prior to Willie was not enjoyable It was not country They were unknowns, which is fine but at least have them part of the theme... country The name Outlaw music festival Is misleading There were only two acts before Willie and we waited 6 hours to see him play for one hour I had such a headache from stress and disappointment

Willie should save himself for smaller intimate venues . His back up was amazing but he’s lost in the big show performance. The overall event may have been worthwhile but because of the weather we only arrived to see Willie and his short performance

Sturgill Simpson is a must see

    by WaitN4Greg on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

I was real glad to see Derek Trucks and Sturgill, they we’re actually the two acts I wanted to most see. And it’s a good thing because they made up half the line up. 4 acts is a thin roster for a “festival”!! The way the show was marketed makes you think your going to see many more bands during the 8hrs!! Last beef, the parking lot is managed by idiots and the beer and food is really expensive!! The bright side, Willie put on a real decent show, better than I expected from a man in his 80’s!! Derek trucks and his band are something to see and Sturgill Simpson burnt the place down! He sings like Waylon Jennings has taken over his soul!

    Sturgill, TTB & Willie?!

by Peekay on 2018-09-12Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Fantastic show beginning with Terra Lightfoot. And then Sturgill graced the stage, shredded like a man possessed. I think he made a lot of new fans and I feel sorry for the people who came late. Tedeschi Trucks Band played like the pros they are and then Willie brought it home from there playing all the hits. Great time, sadly there were many empty seats. Sad for such a great show.
