About

As the first group to land an extreme metal album at No. 1 on the BIllboard 200, Pantera became overnight torchbearers of the genre, paving the way for a long and successful reign that shows no signs of slowing . In 2013, Pantera frontman, Phil Anselmo, and bassist, Rex Brown, reunited and joined Anthrax on stage at the Revolver Golden God Awards show. Performing "This Love" from their 1992 album "Vulgar Display of Power," Anselmo's voice reminded fans of the unbridled brutality the band was capable of in its heyday. The energy Pantera crammed into their live act cannot be measured by any earthly means. The shredding licks of Dimebag Darrel, backed by Vinnie Paul's solid, world-shattering drums rounded out a power-packed concert that was everything American metal should be. The band treated ticket holders to speed metal of a truly high caliber, as entire arenas seemed to erupt in torrents of high-speed thrashing to a Texas-bred cacophony that was anything but ordinary.

When Anselmo joined the band in 1987, and the band released their breakthrough album 1990's "Cowboys From Hell," little remained of their glam and hair metal origins, and replacing those was an entirely fresh, raw presence that had no equal. After releasing "Vulgar Display of Power" in 1992, Pantera toured with tremendous success. The shocking assassination of Dimebag Darrell in 2004 sadly put an end to any hopes of a reunion, but the memory lives on in singles like "Mouth for War" and "Walk," both from "Vulgar Display of Power." Vulgar's follow-up, "Far Beyond Driven," topped its predecessor with even more raw thunder. Pantera will be remembered as a band that ushered in the new thrash, for nothing was ever the same after they arrived. As they may very well be the fathers of modern metal, they were truly greater than the sum of their parts.

by Alex on 2024-03-01Centre Videotron - QuébecRating: 5 out of 5

I thought age and the fact that 2 of the main members gone would’ve made this show just a pale comparison of what Pantera actually was. But man did it over delivered!!! Glad I saw them live and didn’t miss this show!!!

  • Awesome

My first time watching Pantera live and although I was ready to be awed they were way way better than I expected. Dimebag and Vinnie would be proud.

  • Metal at it’s Best!

by Hozapo on 2024-02-29Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Pounding drums shake your seat as screaming guitars rip up the most intense riffs imaginable. B.A.S.S. guitars that lock in time effortlessly, perfectly in with smashing rhythms. All that topped off with the most legendary vocals to ever walk on stage. A show driven by industry leaders in stage and sound that makes for a night of Metal to NEVER forget!!!

  • Heavy!!!

I had great seats and the concert was excellent-nobody standing up in front of me-nobody holding up their cell phones-everyone just enjoying the music. Met some very nice people and I had a great time. Scotiabank arena is a very clean place and easy to move around if it not that crowded. I had a great time at the concert and I loved the new cups that the beer came in as well!!!!!

  • Great show

by Crazymufu on 2024-02-29Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Brought my kids down to the show it was a great experience. I wore my battle vest which is a leather vest that consists of patches from previous bands that I’ve had the pleasure to see and I had a few spikes that are made of metal on it and I was refused entry with the jacket, which I found to be very silly, I’m a 50-year-old disabled man who is going to be seated maybe next time they can put that as a warning for anyone else that comes down with her clothing that doesn’t fit their standards. Otherwise we had a great time.

  • Great show front to back!

Got to the venue and my tickets were immediately upgraded 10 rows ahead. LoG killed it, staff was friendly and helpful at the venue and then Pantera closed it in style. Choked up during Floods. Absolutely amazing show!

  • An AMAZING performance

by Pantera fan on 2024-02-29Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was absolutely AMAZING. It’s clear that the Pantera I saw is not the one I fell in love with, but it was still AMAZING. I’d go watch again anytime. Phil’s charisma is still there, and his stage presence is strong. I was also glad I wasn’t the only 50 year old on the crowd 😉

  • Unreal.

by Griff on 2024-02-29Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great atmosphere and chugging metal. It may only be half of the original band but they’re kicking ass nonetheless.

  • Pantera Delivers

by Loadz on 2024-02-29Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

If you want to hear Pantera live and loud again you need to witness what they are doing. Zackk & Charlie do an incredible job paying tribute to The Abbot brothers with their amazing performances. Phil & Rex are the heart of the band and it shows while they’re on stage. Incredible show with all the hits and some deep cuts for the long time Pantera fans.

Get rid of the chair seats on but it was great experience other than that. People stand and rock out at concerts, if they wanna be seated, they should be in the higher chairs.
