    Paolo was spectacular!!!

by Peppermint on 2009-08-03The Opera House - Toronto

Paolo Nutini was very entertaining and the only thing I am upset about is the fact that he had a CD signing that afternoon in Toronto and we did not know about it to attend. So I was disappointed with that, but show itself was great!

    bra's fly at paolo nutini

by foodboy on 2009-08-02The Opera House - Toronto

i must say i was truly looking forward to this concert after catching paolo nutini on austin city limits. the show started strong with red shoes off his debut album, and quickly led into newer material from his latest offering sunny side up. what really struck me was that this deep and soulful artist has now been morphed into a clean cut pop star.he was backed by a tight seven piece band (which he never introduced) and played most of the new cd. i was not at all as impressed with some of this new material but the women in attendance mostly of the younger variety, screamed their approval at every musical offering. the weakest links to the evening were the horn backed songs that sounded like a thirties speak easy. with influences of otis redding and bob marley it really would be interesting to see if he would cover a couple of songs from these artists, but after speaking to some one in his entourage the idea was dismissed.at the end of the main set a red bra was seen to fly up on stage and catch itself perfectly on paolo's mike stand.that bra seemed to have an encore of its own and this time a white one managed to find its way to the stage as well. unless the next album goes back to his original roots where his real talent lies i see no reason to see him again.

    Frusterating Evening.

by zenvang on 2009-08-02The Opera House - Toronto

Having seen Paolo Nutini in the past and knowing his capabilities as a talented artist we were disappointed in this show for the most part due to the audience. It felt a lot like Karaoke...every song was literally sung by the crowd while Paolo tried his hardest to put on HIS show. He was trying at times to veer into his own renditions of his own songs and could barely be heard above the crowd. Clapping, screaming and singing during his songs was so excessive I don't think his voice was audible unless it was during one of his newer songs, luckily unknown by some of the audience. Sure, it's great to be a lively and appreciative audience for an artist...but folks need to respect the artist's rights to perform. And respect other peoples rights to enjoy a show. Very disappointing...wish we had of sold our tickets as we heard people were selling them for $2-300 on craigslist and the likes. Hopeful to see Paolo again in a more respectful venue.

paolo nutini entertains for all ages!

by kat1968 on 2009-08-02The Opera House - Toronto

Well I have to say firstly that I was surprised at the mix of ages. The opera house was packed and its hard to hear clearly unless you can push your way to the front. But I was happy to say that I found a great spot to hear and see Paolo and his band. The mix of songs were great between the two albums. It seemed like he has taken quite a different direction in his music. It was more traditional than the pop alternative that he started from. His roots has played a big role with this new album and after hearing it live, I would have to say that I look at the album with new life. He really is amazing showman and the band was really great, everyone was having such an amazing time. the light show for such a small venue was really cool and help create a cool and funky atmosphere. Great show guys!

    Excellent Performer--bad venue!!

by stray on 2009-08-01The Opera House - Toronto

Poor Paolo never had a chance here. What started as a very energetic concert with adoring fans became sour as the venue was not appropriate for his often slower songs. His lyrics are dynamite and the sound system sucked....for him and the two warm up acts. Paolo should have been in Massey Hall, not this venue. It too would have sold out.I felt sorry for him as many people left early due to the muffle of sound in this ancient , scuzzy "opera house".

by PaoloWidower on 2009-08-01The Opera House - Toronto

Amazing talent, more than just a pretty face... even the sweaty general admission was tolerable.... he should have been at Massey Hall or other larger seating venue, would have sold them out too

Paolo Nutini was out of this world

by FlowerofScotland on 2009-08-01The Opera House - Toronto

Wow, what a fantiastic night. Paolo was absolutely brilliant. He has so much passion for his music and that really showed through in his performance. He has the most amazing voice, both powerful and delicate. Some artists sound good on their records but are very dissapointing live - not so with Paolo. He just kept going, singing song after song - no filling in with conversation for this Scotsman!! The venue was great really suited him and his music. Made me proud to be a fellow Scot. The supporting acts were excellent aswell! All I have left to say is we want more, more, more Paolo Nutini please...

    Paolo was an emotional expierence

by alloway on 2009-08-01The Opera House - Toronto

in every song that he played you could see the emotion that he must have had when he originally wrote the song. While he was singing No Other Way he was almost on his knees pulling his hair. it was just phenom!

    Just an incredible night!

by bpud on 2009-08-01The Opera House - Toronto

Last night, Paolo Nutini rocked the sold out Opera House in Toronto, and I feel bad for anyone who missed this show. The amount of energy and emotion that Paolo and his extremely talented band put into every song was unbelievable - they drew the entire crowd in, from the front row to the back of the mezzanine. Overall, I was expecting a good show, and was blown away! I will definitely see Paolo again!

    Go Paolo! Lame crowd though....

by KatyKeene on 2009-07-27House of Blues Boston - Boston

Paolo and his band were amazing... they sounded fantastic, mixed things up to make the show interesting and were just all round A+. The audience, however, needed to buck up. People having full on conversations, trying to speak louder than the music; people not looking at the stage. I've never been to a show where the audience has been like that before. But Paolo was incredible!
