The Cat Empire is a genre-defying ensemble that formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1999. Blending ska, jazz, rocksteady, and hip-hop, the six-piece produces a wildly eclectic sound and live show that has toured worldwide, from major festivals like Glastonbury to making buzzworthy appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The Cat Empire has produced multiple No. 1 albums in Australia, including Two Shoes (2005) and Rising with the Sun (2016). After announcing their decision to disband in 2021, a refreshed lineup was announced in July 2023 led by original members Ollie McGill and Felix Riebl with the additions of Grace Barbé on bass, Daniel Farrugia on drums, Neda Rahmani on percussion and Lazaro Numa on trumpet. On August 25, The Cat Empire released their ninth studio album, Where The Angels Fall, with a supporting world tour scheduled for the fall.

What an amazing show. The band are insanely talented musicians. We had a fabulous time and would come back for another show!
We had a ball !! They were very entertaining. The Crowd was excited and so did I !! Very GOOD show! It was my first time seeing them. I already knew them and it was over my expectations. I love their music. The new members are good too. Créole songs and latino songs. Good vibes
Please don't ever do a show at the Algonguin theater again, everyone was seated during the show.. there was no atmosphere and even security told us to sit down... come on, it's The Cat Empire, which can really be seated while listening to their show.. I'm sorry Ottawa, but once again, you have greatly disappointed me. It's my last show in the capital that's for sure... BTW the beer and wine wasn't good either...
Definitely worth seeing Cat Empire if you can. Amazing show from start to finish with the entire crowd going wild. Can't recommend enough!
Have seen The Cat Empire a number of times over the years, they never disappoint. They're high energy, they get the crowd into it, Felix has a great presence. Has always been an awesome show. Plus the Commodore ballroom is just a great venue, I have no idea how the crowd is so loud in there (in a good way), it's not a stadium size crowd, but it sounds like it.
Good crowd, great music!!! The Cat Empire brings so much energy and pure joy!!
Amazing music and incredible vibe! I’m so glad I went to this show. It was a good mix of the songs we knew and loved, jam sessions that went off and heart-felt story telling. So so awesome!
Finally a band that is intensely spirited! The opening surprise was worth the ticket alone. Beg, borrow and steal for a ticket next year upon there return OR buy an album download and play LOUD. Love the Caribbean infuses. ROCK ON! X.O Canada
Great show, high energy and super fun. They’re such excellent musicians!
First, the Commodore Ballroom never disappoints as a venue. Next, if you are a longtime Empire fan, it’s important to know this is quite a different group and experience. It still is a fantastic show, with talented musicians and tremendous showmanship, but without Harry and other founding members, it feels a little wanting. Mind you, if you didn’t know the original band, your experience won’t be impacted.
