PEACHES IN CONCERT:

Electronic pop provocateur Peaches blends undeniably catchy hooks with performance art at her thrilling live concerts. Pitched halfway between Lady Gaga’s art pop perfection and Suicide’s confrontational synthpunk, Peaches’ intense dance beats and shocking stage show treat ticket buyers to an edgy spectacle they won’t be able to look away from. Peaches rewards her audience’s curiosity with elaborate costume changes and choreography on tour. All her style is matched by some serious substance, and she shows off rock star pipes on fan favorites like “Why Don’t You Talk to Me”, “Serpentine”, and “I Feel Cream”. Whether you consider her an art house genius or a subversive pop princess, you won’t be able to forget Peaches’ insane live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Peaches, aka Merrill Beth Nisker, grew up a class clown in her native Toronto, Canada. She relocated to Berlin, Germany in 2000 and received a recording contract from Kitty-Yo following a one-off performance she did shortly after arriving in the country. The same year she programmed and recorded every instrument on her critically praised debut album The Teaches of Peaches. Her 2006 album Impeach My Bush helped her reach a wider audience thanks to guest contributions from contemporaries like Joan Jett, Josh Homme, and Feist. In 2012 she wrote, directed, and performed in her first feature film, the musical mock-biopic Peaches Does Herself, which received warm reviews during its premier at the Toronto International Film Festival. Peaches continues to deliver provocative and groundbreaking performances, both at her jaw-dropping live shows and on stellar albums like 2015’s RUB.

Crowd surfing, sweaty dancing, glowing crotch lights, lightsabres, lasers, fake boobs, projectors, towels, and one song requiring no shirt. If you LIKE life, go.

    Wowzers!!

by BijouBijou on 2009-11-26Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

What can i say? Amanda Blank was the support act for this electro juggernaut and she did a fantastic job of whipping the excitable crowd into a frenzy. Her style was along the same vein as the star of the evening.....wetting the audiences appetite right from the word go. By the time Peaches set foot on stage, I was almost hoarse from screaming, but that didn't matter, this was PEACHES! No pain, no gain! She brought everything I had expected to the show - the outrageous makeup, the outlandish costumes and the crazy antics of a true rock star. Even though I didn't know alot of the songs, that did not stop me from enjoying the show and jumping around with the die hard Peaches fans. It was the entertainment factor that made it ok that I didn't recognise the beginning of "Boys wanna be Her" or "Serpentine". It was also hilarious when Peaches asked the person who was smoking a J to at least share it with her, the J was being handed over when it fell on the floor just before it reached the stage. Peaches dove off the stage (causing her security muscle to nearly have a heart attack) before emerging victorious, and taking a few long drags of it before handing it back. When Peaches crowd "walked" before laying down and crowd surfing her way around the dancefloor before returning to the stage to spray champagne all over the audience and having a fair swig of the bubbles as well! I came to the show expecting to see a great show - i left having seen one of the most high energy and truly amazing live performances I have seen in a very long time! Looking for a great night out? Peaches is a sure thing!

    Greatest Performing Rocker Today

This show was the best show I've seen in years. Peaches is truly intimate with her legion of followers. The modern rockstar is now in the form of a girl next door who turned into a mulleted vixen crossed with Ziggy Stardust. NON STOP ELECTROROCK. Peaches truly will "take you on".

Boring, cliche and pretty lam. Ironic considering she is know for her theatrics. Only played for one hour and lost half the crowd between encores.

My 3rd time seeing Peaches and she ups the ante everytime. Bringing her parents on stage was perfect. Great proud parents were loving the stage. She amazes me everytime, makes me wonder why other artists can't kick it like her. She is a true rockstar!!!! Having Amanda Blank open for her made this show perfect. I saw Blank open for Santogold and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs this year. I purchased her CD @ Santogold and LOVE IT!!! Next week I am off to Vancouver to see these rockin' chicks kick it in the west. Hope the fans aren't lame.....
