Fantastic show. Great performances and fantastic effects, as well.
all I can say it was an amazing show it felt short it was so great !
Everything about the event was wow! The performers, the digital effects, the sets: Five-stars for it all! Merci beaucoup, Jean Grand-Maître.
A very innovative performance with great lighting and costumes. The sound system was very disappointing. Not very well done. Tinny and noisy, poor quality sound. Although these were interruptions of Bowie's music, they were disappointing.
=the dancing was really good. The selection of music average at best. Not in the same class as Love lies Bleeding - Elton John, Cohen KD Lang. I have every Bwie album and the use was limited to many esoteric unknown music selections. Especially in the first half which was a big disappointment. Very few (2) known songs. The opportunity to explore Bowie's contribution to Fashion was nearly completely missed! Such a shame. Over all the second half was better but only because the expectations were lowered by the fist half.
Amazing evening. The ballet and costumes were fantastic. The best evening I have spent since pre-covid. It would have been nice to have a few more of Bowie's older songs, but it was still great.
What talented young dancers! I will certainly be willing to blame the difficulties of rehearsals during the Covid pandemic for what I witnessed Thursday night. The choreography was excellant and expressive and to me showed each individual' talents. However I have never noticed this ballet group to show such unco-ordination. At times it appeared that everyone was just doing their own thing. They were making the same moves, but not at the same time. Was there not enough rehearsal time? I've also never experienced the audience not showing appreciation for the individuals or couples after difficult sequences. Often the audience claps during or after each piece- but not that night. It made me embarrassed for not showing recognition to the dancers. In reflection, perhaps it was because there were mostly unknown tunes chosen with only one popular song to be experienced! And for that everyone joined in and showed their enthusiasm! All in all I enjoyed it because it was Alberta's own Ballet company led by the wonderful Jéan. May you continue to be blessed in your next journey. And after all it was the music of one of our times most unique and wonderful musical talents.
Fantastic blend of rock and ballet. It was such an amazing performance and made for a beautiful night out.
First ever ballet! Loved it! To my understanding this wasn’t a typical ballet (I have nothing to compare it to), I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bright colors, great music and the performers were incredible. I highly recommend!
Dancers were beautiful. I thought music should of been more popular songs of David Bowie .
It was very easy to select and purchase tickets, which were downloaded to my phone. Parking was easy. The staff and service were wonderful and attentive. The show, PHI, was outstanding! The athleticisms of the performers, the music and stage / special effects were extraordinary. Loved the ending and tributes. I felt like a Hero, just for one day :)
Great first time experience at a ballet for all 4 of us.
The dancing and choreography were both interesting and amazing. I'm personally not a huge fan of David Bowie's music (nothing against it). I would have preferred to have a program (digital) - maybe there was one but I couldn't find it online. Overall, it was an excellent event and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The best show ever. The dancers were spectacular music was great fantastic show
So happy to see performance art back!!! Truly memorizing production!
I was expecting a lot more variety in David Bowie's music. It was a very depressing ballet with no real storyline. I loved the Elton John ballet, but this was a big disappointment.
An overwhelming thank you to Jean Grand Maitre and the dancers of Alberta Ballet for this stunning production. The story, vision, relevance, thought provoking presentation, and artistic talent that this production brings together are a fitting tribute to David Bowie and his music, and also to the well deserved retirement of Jean Grand Maitre and Kelley and Reilley McKinlay. Wishing all of you much success and happiness in the future and looking forward to more amazing Alberta Ballet productions!
