Pittsburgh Penguins History
The Pittsburgh Penguins joined the National Hockey League for the 1967-1968 season during the League's expansion from six to 12 teams. The Penguins played at Civic Arena (nicknamed "the Igloo") until the 2009-2010 season, when they moved to PPG Paints Arena (formerly CONSOL Energy Center).
Postseason appearances have been nearly a birthright for the Penguins and their fans since the 1990-1991 season, after which they won five Stanley Cup Championships. They've won six conference championships and earned the Stanley Cup Champion title in back-to-back seasons (2016 and 2017) with coach Mike Sullivan and the great Sidney Crosby as captain at the helm.
In the 2005 NHL Draft the Penguins selected Crosby as their No. 1 pick. Dubbed “The Next One,” Crosby has spent an historic 18 seasons with the Penguins and enters the 2023-2024 at 25th on the league’s all-time scoring list.
The franchise boasts more than a dozen former players in the NHL Hall of Fame, including Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, Bryan Trottier, and Paul Coffey. The Penguins most recently made the playoffs in 2022. To date, they've appeared in the playoffs 37 times in their 55 seasons.

The game was awesome. Both teams fought hard but the better team won! Seats were amazing. Go Pens.
Seats were great Atmosphere was better than normal If only there was a way to get people sitting right behind you to stop telling the players what to do -- they can't hear you!
Drove from Nova Scotia Canada to see NS native Sidney Crosby play. Great game, wonderful atmosphere. Great selection in gift shop. Food pricey but expected. Took light rail train to event, perfect!
Was so excited to go to this game. Unfortunately the Penguins lost but our seats were good and we had a good view of the action.
Amazing atmosphere Great seat Too bad the pens didn't show up to play that night I would have liked to experience a home win
I've gone to more than a few places to watch NHL games, and I have to say Pittsburgh is the place to be! Amazing team to watch, the city is amazing, fans are fantastic, it's overall just an amazing experience that goes beyond just watching a hockey game.
As a Leafs fan visiting from Toronto, really enjoyed Crosby's hat trick, best player in the NHL. Lovely arena, real friendly people and overall a great experience.
Came to the game and had a great experience. There is a lot to see inside and outside of the arena. Amazing product on the ice!
Game was excellent! Tickets were great. Using the seat finder tool on Ticketmaster was as advertised - view from seats was 100% as expected
this was the first time at the consol energy center for a hockey game and the site lines were excellent compared to the mellon center which was terrible. The only problem with the building was it only had 3 entrances and your ticket didn't tell you which one to enter.
I don't think i will attend another event here. What is the best part of the game for the kids I have always said the warm-up were the kids can interact with the players. I have been to around 30+ NHL games so far and not even once have i encountered this. The user would not let the kids touch the glass put there signs on the glass to interact with the players. Now young kids what do they do they get excited, they bang the glass to get attention of the players. Then the usher comes back threatens to remove and send them back to there seats. they do it again get threaten again. You cannot stand near the glass. Was just disgusted.
Although I missed watching Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Marc Andre Fleury, the rest of the Penguins put in a great team effort. Go PENS!
Love being part of the home crowd cheering for the Penguins (")>
Great seats and view of the action! Too bad the home team didn't play very well!
A birthday/Christmas present to 14 year old granddaughter...who is enamoured by Sidney Crosby. Flew from Toronto to Pittsburgh. We arrived at the Consul Centre on foot in the rain/city centre closed off for St. Patrick's Day parade. Crosby came out for warmup-never to be seen again, Fleury not in the net for the game, Malkin played a couple of shifts and was injured. Too expensive for no satisfaction......and they lost!
What an unforgettable win for the Penguins in their game against the Rangers on Nov 15th. Pens win it in a shoot out!
Fourteen rows up and behind the bench area with good view of players getting on and off ice. Being in the Niagara Club was a surprise. Enjoyed a Captain's Burger (of course) before the game started.
enough said :) The team played with grit and determination - it's what the NYR Fans want -- even if there were only about 25 of us in the building -- lots more watching out there. The Consol energy centre is a great venue. Service was fast and people friendly (even to Rangers fans).
I didn't think I could get such amazing seats at such a great price on such short notice. It was my first time looking for tickets for any sort of event. I would definitely recommend Ticketmaster and I will certainly use them again.
It was a good game. Seats where high up, but the view was unobstructed.
