Helping bring commercial metal to the masses since the early '80s, Poison remain at the top of their game well into the current decade. Their Glam-a-Geddon tour in 2011 commemorating their 25th anniversary was a huge success, reflecting the band's now legendary status as a forerunner of American pop-metal. The same can be said for their 2012 tour with fellow rockers Def Leppard. Poison's live shows often combine raucous fun with serious musical entertainment. Ticket buyers were in for a night of loud, high-energy concert rock, not to mention the onstage antics of the notorious C.C. Deville, whose amazing guitar solos are known to exceed nine minutes. Poison's 2011 Double Dose: Ultimate HIts compilation album preceded their summer tour and features all their hit singles that topped music charts.
It began in 1984, with frontman Bret Michaels, bassist Bobby Dall and drummer Rikki Rockett. Deville joined the band shortly thereafter, and the spirit of Poison was born. The glam fashion and metal attitude were a surprisingly effective mix. The 1986 hit Look What the Cat Dragged sold over two million copies, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200. With the release of 1988's Open Up and Say... Ahhh!, the super-smash anthem "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" cemented Poison firmly in their place in musical history. Their 2002 album Hollyweird reunited the band's original lineup after years following a falling-out among members. The reunion seems to have reinvigorated Poison, as it holds true to everything the band ever was and everything it ever will be in the public's eye. Songs like "Wishful Thinkin'" and the title track are hard-driving, good-old-fashioned rock and roll with a pop-metal edge. Fans could not ask for anything more, and a whole new generation of fans got a good glimpse of what the legendary Poison was all about.
Awesome seats, energetic concert, good tunes. Poison was my first concert in 1988, 30 years later, still one of my favorite concerts to see.
I don't think a band electrifies an audience more than Poison. The energy of the band stood out right from the get go. It was an immediate sensation once they started. So good. If you've seen them before there weren't a lot of changes, but they don't need change. They entertain at every moment. Great songs and great show and cool video montage to start. Highly recommended if you want a night of fun.
This was an amazing night. Such a great crowd for a couple of awesome bands. The energy lighting and sound made the show well worth the wait.
If you want action tonight, or satisfaction tonight, see these bands.
Totally entertained the entire show keep me moveing!!
Bret had lots of energy and really worked the crowd
Poison were amazing they played almost all there hits.
Took advantage of live nations upgrade offer and got floor tickets for cheap. That was a sweet deal. Cheap Trick was great. You can tell he appreciates his fans and interacts with the crowd. They sounded just like they did on the 45’s I used to play on my old record player. A blast from the past. Poison was good also. Lots of energy and of course Brett is hot. They sang many of their hits and I enjoyed it.
It was amazing show, could ask better for the band great show
The concert on an overall basis was fantastic! We a group of 3 decided to go 2 weeks prior to the date and just bought lawn seats. When entering through the gates, we were informed that we were upgraded to the 200 section as the lawn was closed for everyone. turns out it was the greatest thing...awesome seats. First Pop Evil, was amazing...would definitely pay to see them again. secondly Cheap Trick played, certainly they still got it but I only like a few of their songs. Then there is Poison....Still rocking it out and so very glad I got the chance to see them. The only thing that would have been better is if they opened the gates earlier so you could buy your merchandise, grab a bite to eat and get some drinks prior to the first act coming on stage. We came a long distance, so access to washrooms would have been great!
Pop Evil was an excellent opener! Cheap Trick was very boring and I could have done without them. But Poison was outstanding!!!!
Excellent concert Poison know how to get a crowd going.. Loved this show Was kinda disappointed in Cheap Trick thought they would of played more of their older hits
Had a great night, awesome energy from all the bands
Excellent high energy show. Poison never disappoints its fans!!
Great show, was upgraded to seats and had a good time, high energy
I would recommend seeing Poison and Cheap Trick again if/when they return. Both bands still perform at a high level. Make sure that if Pop Evil is the opening act, get to the show early and don’t miss their set!
Poison again brought their 'A' party game and rocked the house. Always entertaining and a show where you don't even sit down once.
CC DeVille is like fine wine can only get better with age
Went to see Cheap Trick mostly (have seen Poison a few times) and they both were great! Robin Zander voice is still amazing, Bret Michaels is a great front man. Only beef I had was I got obstructed view seats (my fault when I ordered) but then they closed the lawns and gave all those people who paid next to nothing better seats than I had! That really bothered me- but that’s not the bands fault
Not likely their fault but I would hope a band would care about the local sound. The reason I say this is because the sound for Pop Evil opening was terrible which is not uncommon for an opening band. Then Cheap Trick's sound was just as crackle and muffled, overall distorted sound. Having seen Cheap Trick more than once before they have always sounded great. Then Poison hit the stage and once again the sound was muffled, distorted and crackling during every song. Bad sound for 3 bands leads me to believe it was the venue PA/sound. With regards to Poison, having 4 solos take up that much time takes away from having more songs in a fairly short setlist to begin with. Likely this is their last time touring as a band and more likely this was our last time going to Toronto, it just is not worth it for a short setlist and all the crap going to Toronto brings with it. It certainly does not provide a stress relief! When we arrived we were told the lawn tickets were being exchanged since the lawn was closed for the night. An upgrade right? Well it was, we were moved to section 200 which is very close to the stage and for most would be much better seats. We prefer the lawn, more fun up there. We ended up moving to the very last row of seats anyway after Cheap Trick. I must be getting old, left before the show was even done.
