About

Primus was founded in 1984 in El Sobrante, California by Les Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth, who were later joined by drummer Jay Lane. Beginning as an underground act, the band slowly gained notoriety and critical acclaim after their records Sailing the Seas of Cheese (1991) and Pork Soda (1993) both went Platinum, along with their records, Wynona's Big Brown Beaver (1996), Sailing the Seas of Cheese (Deluxe Edition) (2013) and Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble (2015), all three of which earned Grammy nominations. After the release of their record Antipop in 1999, the group disbanded but reformed as a touring entity in 2010 and began releasing music again soon after; Primus has released nine studio albums in total. The present lineup features Claypool on bass, Larry “Ler” LaLonde on guitar and Tim “Herb” Alexander on drums. Primus have delighted audiences all over the world with their oddball lyricism and out-of-the-box approach to music for over 40 years, and continue to be dedicated to bringing their innovative discography on the road.

Primus were awesome and Black Mountain was a good opener. Great concert!!!

  • Semi-Psychedelic, Hallucinaturally Flavoured

Long waits for over priced shit. Too bad the poster for the Toronto shows sucked or I would've bought one to display proudly. Easily forgettable when Primus takes the stage, but they ramped it up quickly-with a little Southbound Pachyderm. Nice to see them play some hits. The tribute to "A Farewell To Kings" was poignant, if not a bit fan-boy fun. I sang Geddy's part as Les wasn't wearing a tight enough jock strap, I suppose. All in all, a memorable, hazy concert evening, which prepared me adequately for the even's Duck and Goose Soiree. Mot juste!

Love primus! Les put on a great show. Played songs from most of his albums. My only compliant was the expo center! Turn up your fucking speakers!! Put out more speakers even. Awful soundstage.

Was only familiar with a couple of Primus records. First time seeing them live. What an incredible group of musicians! Great, innovative songwriting. The Rush material was well performed. Have gained profound respect for this band since seeing the show. Cant stop listening to Primus now.

  • Amazing!

Was the best concert I’ve ever been to. Was filled with cheesy audio goodness from beginning to end.

  • Great band, poor venue

by Mike on 2022-06-13Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The venue did not do this band justice. We had seats on the floor, close to stage. We went to the washroom and came back to everyone crowded up to the stage and our seats were taken, instead of creating a scene we left to where it wasn't so crowded. If you haven't seen Primus live, I would definitely recommend it!

  • Phenomenal show!

Les, Ler, & Herb are absolutely incredible musicians!! One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and a very fitting tribute to Rush!

My third time seeing these guys. Overall it was a pretty good show. There were a few songs I was hoping they would play that they didn’t. Thing is though with these guys, you never know what you’ll get songwise. Still a great show.
