    Frank Mills and Rita MacNeil

by Edmontonmusic on 2012-12-19Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Frank Mills would have been worth the price of the ticket. Enjoyed his stories and mostly enjoyed his music. He played "Music Box Dancer" twice - once solo and once with the back up band. Would gladly purchase tickets to see Mr. Mills if he were to stay 'out' of retirement and visit Edmonton again in the future. Thank you Mr. Mills for a very enjoyable evening.

    Rita McNeil and Frnak Mills

by sadylydisappointed on 2012-12-19Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

It was surely a good thing that Frank Mills was there to save the day. I used to love Rita, but sadly I can't get the memory of this performance out of my mind. It is time for Rita to hang her microphone up!

Very disappointed. We came to here Rita. I have never seen her live before, but the quality of her voice is no where near the CDS that we have enjoyed. Without Frank Mills the concert would be a total flop. Not impressed however with his so called jokes.

Has been Rita, Still has it Frank

by Hasbeen on 2012-12-18Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We were very disappointed with Rita's performance on Sunday, Dec 16 2012 in Calgary. Often she sang off key, singing was choppy because she couldn't hold the notes. She seemed very short of breath. The mic setting was too loud. Rita's band was good. Frank Mills saved the night. He can make the piano dance!! It was absolutely wonderful to hear him play - and we'd have enjoyed it even more if he'd told a few less stories, and played more songs.

The title was reasonable for the season.....

by Bonbon777 on 2012-12-18Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

While I did get bored at the beginning, at how long Rita MacNeil performed.....I was ecstatic when Frank Mills appeared. The rest of the concert after Frank made his appearance, was excellent.

    Rita MacNeil's Sharing Christmas

    by Bernadette123 on 2012-12-03Casino Rama - Rama

I love listening to Rita MacNeil sing. She sings from the soul and makes you feel at home. This year Frank Mill joined Rita and was personable and a wonderful pianist who accompanied Rita and shared performance time. Rita's band was excellent, had lots of energy and I thoroughly enjoyed the song choices. My only regret which has nothing to do with the performance was several attendees came late and interrupted the musical moments when trying to find their seats in the dark, chatting and moving across the seats. People need to be courteous and come early or at least be on time!

In my opinion it was not the best

    by babyboomer2 on 2012-12-03Casino Rama - Rama

I am not an avid Rita fan, but did think that because it was with Frank Mills and billed as a Christmas show it would be a nice evening out with my wife. Frank Mills was very good and I we enjoyed that part of the concert very much. Rita's band was very good as well. The only problem I found was with Rita's style of singing. She seemed to be sliding into the notes and for me, it felt that she was off key most of the night. Her stories were good and she is quite witty.Perhaps they could have turned her mic down a little as well as her voice could easily over power the band. All in all, not a bad evening.

Rita MacNeil and Frank Mills were great together

    by crmb8 on 2012-12-02Casino Rama - Rama

Rita MacNeil and Frank Mills were great together. Their solo performances and the combination of the two with 'the band' made for a very pleasant evening. Especially liked the drumming during the Huron Carol. Rita- you are a legend. Frank- your fingers are magic.

The hills were alive....but Cape Breton was vague

by 6thGenerationCanuck on 2011-12-19Lindsay Academy Theatre - Lindsay

I couldn't tell if it was Rita's microphone, or her voice. She seemed to trail off then come back deep and husky... Rita MacNeil is a Canadian staple. The Von Trapp great grandchildren sang in perfect harmony and were lovely to hear and see. The costumes worn by the women that were originally Maria Von Trapp's... added to the flavour of the afternoon. Didn't put me in the mood for Christmas.. but was still very glad to have gone.

    Great show

by Chickenfarmer on 2011-12-19Lindsay Academy Theatre - Lindsay

Although it seemed that Rita was not maybe enjoying herself, perhaps not feeling well, the show was great. I had never heard the Von Trapps family and enjoyed them very much ! I listened to Rita's Christmas music with my late mother and both of our favorites was Silent Night which she did !

They brought back many memories with their songs and stories. Each one has an increadible voice. We all in my party enjoyed the concert and were very glad we were able to attend. the two hour drive was worth it.
