    Rock the rink

by Maureen on 2019-11-12Meridian Centre - St Catharines

I thought the show was great, the music was wonderful, I didn't like the idea of a boy band playing for 35 minutes and the show starting at 9 instead of 8., I'm sure they are very popular but I paid for skating not a boy band concert

    Rock the Rink

by Reggie on 2019-11-12Meridian Centre - St Catharines

I loved everything about Rock the Rink except for the first hour which was in my mind a complete waste of time. I went to the event to see skating not to listen to some mediocre alternative rock. The rock group only went for the first 20 minutes, but then the stage had to be removed and the ice resurfaced. It was gone 9.00 o'clock before the skating actually started. I had brought my 6 year old granddaughter to see Scott and Tessa, Patrick Chan, Elvis Stojko, etc. but she was very tired and restless before the skating even started. Complaining aside, once the real event began it was mesmerizing, and I'd have to admit, well worth the wait. But my advice would be to drop the first hour of music and waiting and start the skating at 8.00.

    Ok but not as expected

by Mamabear on 2019-11-12Meridian Centre - St Catharines

There was a concert at the beginning and I had never heard of the band before but I was pleasantly surprised. Then there was a long intermission while they removed the stage. I thought the whole show was ice skating, I don’t remember seeing this concert in the description. Finally the skaters came out but the energy of the crowd wasn’t there. Elvis and Chan did a good job getting the energy up (it was called rock the rink). Only to have the energy fall again. The skating was great but I think it was the flow of the performances that were off. My daughter was super excited to see Tessa and Scott, they didn’t disappoint.

    skaters fantastic

by Foursome on 2019-11-12Meridian Centre - St Catharines

The skaters performances were really well done and everything moved along quickly. Loved them! The downside was that our tickets said the show began at 8:00 but that was only the band who sang, the skaters didn't come out until 9:00. If I had known, I would have bypassed the band completely and come into the Meridian Centre closer to 9:00. The sound in the Centre wasn't good for a band, and we didn't enjoy their music. The event finished very late and it took time for our cars to get out of the parking garages. Since the band was only warming up the audience, maybe if they started at 7:00 and the skaters began at 8:00 it would have been much better for the audience.

    Rock the Rink St. Catherine’s

by Kate on 2019-11-12Meridian Centre - St Catharines

The show was absolutely amazing! Scott, Tessa and the rest of the Rock the Rink crew did not disappoint. You could feel the emotion in all of their performances as well as throughout the audience. Was so glad for the opportunity to watch my Canadian Idols perform one last time!

Was disappointed. Had to arrive early because of new security. At 8 pm a band came on that I didn’t like. Afterwards had to wait another 20 min for the ice to be flooded. Show finally started at 9 pm. While I was happy to see all these skaters again was disappointed with the program

    Rock the Rink

by Bunty on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

We loved the skating ! It was WONDERFUL! The pre-show though-could have done without that. We had our 8 year old granddaughter with us-and the start time of 8:00 plus the 5 songs the band did, plus the 20 minute intermission to clear the bands stage, and Zamboni the ice, made for a very late night. All we wanted to see was rhe skating-which was EXCELLENT!!’

    Rock the Rink

by SF on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

Such an awesome show! Virtue and Moir, Stojko, Chan and rest of cast were amazing. Less impressed with Birds of Bellwood - not my “age and stage” but their performance toward the end of show with skaters was excellent. Will miss Virtue and Moir - could watch them and Stojko for hours. World class athletes!!!

    Good But Not Great

by Huron on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

I had high expectations for Rock the Rink, given how outstanding Tessa and Scott are. While the alternative band was OK, it is certainly not my type of music nor many in the crowd. The most annoying part was that it was announced that there would be a 20 minute intermission (perhaps I heard wrong); however, the intermission was a good 40 minutes. Many people around me felt that the first hour was a complete waste of time and money. Certainly, the elderly were getting frustrated and bored and it was a late night for them (to see only 1.5 hours of skating). Tessa and Scott were spectacular, as always. They did not disappoint.

Bonus Event - Birds of Bellwood on Ice

by S on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

What a wonderful event! Loved the performances on ice - Tessa and Scott never let us down. Other performers came through too! The Birds of Bellwood were a real treat. I hadn’t heard of them before but have listened to their music over the last few days. A Great Night!

Great Skating Not So Great Band

by Rings on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

We loved the skating, which we believed the show to be. We did not enjoy the group or the fact that the group and preparing the ice took 1 hour before the skating started.

by Rod on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

We went early as suggested for security, it was fast. We were not expecting an opening band, though the were ok, the crowd was the wrong demographic, we really would appreciated straight to the show We arrived at 6:30 as suggested The actual ice show did not start until 9 That was too long to wait.. The skaters on the other hand we amazing, we loved every minute of the ice show

    A Night To Remember

by Bobby Kayo on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

The skaters were magnificent, in particular, Tessa and Scott! The band was good but did not integrate well into the evening. I and my friends came for the skating. The band went on for about an hour before any skaters appeared. I would venture to say that more than half the audience was of an age that did not appreciate the loud rock music - at least not for an hour or so off the top of the evening. Because of having to clear the band’s set-up, there was another 20 min. delay before the skaters came out. What a terrific cast of skaters! My friends and I were delighted with the special skater with Down Syndrome, reminding us all about the Special Olympics. She was excellent! The song choices for all the skating performances were excellent. Tessa and Scott are always breathtakingly talented and beautiful to watch! To conclude, the skating was well worth the cost of the ticket. I do hope this is an annual event in St. Catharines - even sadly without Tessa and Scott. I would like to see Disney on Ice come to St. Catharines too!

    Not great

    by B. n. on 2019-11-11Meridian Centre - St Catharines

The details about the show said it started at 8, and doors were at 6:30. We also got several notifications to come very early as it would be hard to get in. We got there at7, and we’re very excited for the show to start. However, a band played for 30 minutes!!!! Then, we were told there would be a 20 minute intermission, which ended up being 35. So we waiting 2 hours for the skating to start.

Show was great, facility was disorganized

by TR on 2019-11-11Paramount Fine Foods Centre - Mississauga

The show was five star. Great skating, great music but it started an hour late at least, maybe longer. The lineups to get past security were disorganized and huge. Plus it was freezing cold with the wind. Clearly the facility was not prepared for the crowd which I don't understand as they hosted battle of the blades to capacity crowds a couple weeks before. There was only one set of entrance doors open and as a result people hundreds of people were stuck outside when the band started. People were rushing to their seats thinking the show had already started only to find out it was the "opening act" and then their was a 30 minute intermission to dismantle the gear. The tickets said 7pm start. I rushed through dinner for nothing.
