About

With his 1978 No. 1 single, Rod Stewart famously asked the world “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” 100 million record sales later, it’s safe to say the world answered “Yes.” As one of the top-selling artists of all time, with a career spanning four decades, the British singer-songwriter is one of the most celebrated figures in rock and roll history. The times may have changed, but Stewart’s appeal hasn’t – with his 28th studio album, 2013’s Time, the raspy crooner once again topped the UK Albums Chart – the first time he’d done so since the release of his Greatest Hits Volume 1 in 1979. Stewart got his start as a solo artists in the early ‘70s, achieving his first mainstream success with blues rock hit “Maggie May” from 1971’s Every Picture Tells a Story. In the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, the singer would adopt disco and new wave influences to much success, including the 1978 No. 1 Blondes Have More Fun and 1981’s Tonight I’m Yours, which featured the hit “Young Turks.” On Tour in 2013, Stewart has treated ticket buyers to rollicking sets of his greatest hits, proving that “Rod the Mod” still knows how to give one heck of a live concert.

    Rod can still entertain!!

by Forever on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

Excellent concert - better than I thought. Rod has a great presence, great sense of humor, fabulous back up singers and band. Thoroughly an entertaining and enjoyable night. Many 20 years olds would love his energy. Way to go!

    Rod Stewart was timeless

by Bondo on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

Not only was Rod Stewart his 'one of a kind self' he put a lot of energy and warm connection with the audience into his performance. As if that wasn't enough - he introduced each member of his company as they performed segments and they were all extremely talented in their own right and added so much to the performance. We enjoyed every minute in spite of being behind very enthusiastic girls (woman) who felt compelled to stand and block everyone's view behind them. SOP at concerts and thankfully Rod made them sit for a bit as in his words 'everyone standing makes me nervous' He knew it must be irritating but part of the process. We actually thought that a slightly older crowd would prefer to sit but was proven wrong on that score.

    Rod Stewart Still Has it

by WendyWoo on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

This was the second time I've seen Rod Stewart. Unsure whether his age would provide a different show than the one I saw about 10 years ago, I went into the concert hoping the price of the ticket was worth it. Rod Stewart came to the stage with "Some Guys have all the Luck" and I knew he still had it. Ageless in appearance and voice - he had the sold out GM place on their feet and singing along. The music timeless, the showmanship and interaction with the audience added that special touch that will make the concert even more memorable. He was cheeky, funny and you could see the twinkle in his eye, that was showing that he's more about the music and fame. He loves what he does. He was a Scottish Lad having a great time and bringing us along for the fun. Thank you Rod! I can't wait to see you next time around!

    Rod really did entertain everyone.

by Smiley on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

I was thought he was great. He has not quite the voice he use to have but he certainly did work at entertaining the crowd. It was really a lot of fun as he was quite silly with his dancing and sang a lot of his hits , which was great. I like that he left us all hanging and didn't do Maggie May til the encoure. As I kept waiting for it as it was what made him big in the first place. Liked also that he kicked soccer balls in to the audience as it gave a somewhat personal touch.

    Rod still has THAT VOICE

by MaggieFan on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

Came over from Victoria to enjoy the show. Excellent floor seats, 8th row. Rod is still a fabulous entertainer, with the voice, the moves, great musicians on stage with him. Best part was Rod being Rod! This show was all about the rock and roll. Last concert we saw, 2005, had a set of American Songbook songs in it, which I loved. But this show was all about Rod the Rocker - and he wears it well. Sorry he didn't do that song. His encore was Maggie May - worth waiting for! This was an energy-filled, very fun evening. No intermission, just fab music for two hours. Worth every penny and if he comes back again, I'm here!

Rod Stewart still has it at 64

by maggiemae2009 on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

Rod still has it, I first saw him in the mid 70's and he still has the charisma and the boyish stage presence, too bad the voice doesn't quite match up. The band and back-up singers overpowered him on so many numbers, but he rocked all his greatest hits and genuinely had fun which made for a great evening of entertainment. Looking forward to his new album with some of the Motown greats on it!

    Rod still has style

by titch on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

Rod does know how to play a crowd. He is very polished and tells it like it is. Sure he doesn't have the pipes he use to but really, he never did. The show was simply him and the girls (love the violinist). Which was refreshing from other productions. He played lots of his old stuff and many of the crowd favorites. Didn't really feel he was caring if he touched us or not, not like Keith Urban did but again, doing this for a long time. That is why I gave him an adverage mark and he only played one song in his encore. Glad I went though.

    Rod Stewart was DYNAMITE!

by jnshig on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

He performed for the best part of 2 hours at top-energy level - and so did his band and singers. So glad we went! One of the best shows I've seen. The audience was totally into it singing along with his most popular hits. He is amazing!

Rod is amazingly still very high energy

by Tooloud on 2009-08-09General Motors Place - Vancouver

The opening by Kin was way too long. Rod is still very high energy. The program lacks the lighter, easier listening songs Rod has been recording more recently, tunes such as "It's a wonderful World", "Embraceable You", "The White Cliffs of Dover", etc.
