Great Show from a Great Band.

by Rocketcpb on 2015-06-26Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I've been a Rush fan for many years and been to many, many Rush concerts. Rush is and always has been an amazing band. Their music is timeless and as musicians they are in a league of there own. Their musicianship is exemplary. I was lucky enough to be at both the Wednesday and the Friday shows at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. They're music selection was great. They're set list included selections from most of their releases from Clockwork Angels all the way back to their debut album, Rush. This concert was like a fourty year "Best of the Best of Rush." I loved it! Wednesday Show. This was my first time seeing any band from the floor level. I would not recommend floor seats unless you're tall and/or near the stage. We were in row 40, centre eisle. When the band started everyone stood up and I could only see two thirds of the stage. Very disappointng seats. The band however was amazing as usual. Friday Show. We were given tickets for the Friday night show from a good friend. Those seats were section 107, row 7. They were excellent seats. Perfect site line and better sound too. Even when standing, the view was excellent. The band even sounded better with us being at a higher level. I enjoyed this show immensely. A great night.

Rush, not in any hurry to leave

by canadianguy123 on 2015-06-23Air Canada Centre - Toronto

What an amazing, phenomenal awesome fantastic excellent exquisite concert experience it was. I can't think of any one word to describe the show, one word will not adequately describe the experience. This was a last minute surprise for a buddy of mine, who was celebrating his something something birthday. Two Tronna guys who grew up on Rush, saw them a few times from the 70s through to the present, and never dissatisfied with the shows. The merchandise is crazy priced though, but if you want it that bad you will pay it. I had no money left after the two tickets and parking, so I lost out on a t-shirt. Three sets, made this some type of show, and a show most memorable. I had a feeling, seeing all the cameras, that they would use this performance for a future DVD release of R40. Another addition to my extensive Rush collection. Would I see them again, damn Skippy I would. RUSH ROCKS MY WORLD.

    Rush-40, Not too shabby!!!

by SeaninBrampton on 2015-06-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Great to see Rush in their 40th year. Great Canadian band, great Canadian history right there, live. Little disappointed in the show though- I would have thought it would be collection of their top songs over 40 yrs, kinda like a greatest live-hits concert. There were some, the concert turned more into a jam session, lots and lots of instrumentals vs vocals. Which is great, we all know Alex, Neil and Geddy are masters in their crafts, and to see/hear that was cool. Geddy's voice was drowned right out, total washed out with the instruments at 11. Overall, it was cool to see them in their 40th year. Wanted more familiar, 2112, Presto, Arms songs. Oh- and a break? When was the last time a band took a break in a concert. That was weird.

    Another excellent Rush show

by RkNRoll on 2015-06-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Typically stellar performance by Rush. The backwards chronological setlist was very cool and at this show we were treated to a first-ever live performance of Losin' It. While Geddy may strain a little more every year to hit those high notes, the musicianship continues to maintain the high standard we expect from Rush.

After 40 years, they still maintain the distinction of one of the greatest technical and most creative bands ever! If anyone dreams of being a musician or wants to continually improve if you already are, listen to these guys play, really listen....unbelievable.

Amazing musicians provided an unforgettable night filled with music spanning 40 years. The best part is the music is still relevant and could've just been released today. Timeless!

ARRRRR 40 --- Nothing Short of Incredible

by Brent123 on 2015-06-20Air Canada Centre - Toronto

A 40 year career with nothing but outstanding music from beginning to end... Let's hope there is more to come! The ACC was absolutely packed, with fans dawning every Form of Rush paraphanalia imaginable! Strangely enough, I have a couple really old Rush t-shirts at home from the '70s that I didn't see anyone else wearing!!! Lol, maybe they didn't fit any more on other fans as well!!! The show started off in recent Rush typical fashion with a fantastically entertaining intro video of the 3 band mates animated and illustrating various graphical items from each and every album art work of there history... Kind of a stroll through the park of their lives! Then they arrive in Toronto in 2015 and the show begins. A few classic numbers from their most recent "Clockwork Angels" album, to start the evening... What a fantastic album that one is, imho the best since Moving Pictures!!! Geddy then talks to the crowd and explains that they will be playing the songs that fans have been asking for from throughout their career in reverse order, starting with the most recent, ending with their very earliest! Their stage show was simply perfection, correographed to the T. And it was always changing, they had the "Rush Movers", coming on stage, kind of unnoticeable, changing back drops, stage props, amp set ups, washer machines, popcorn makers, sample brains, lazer displays, clockwork gears, it went on and on... Essentially, what was happening was they were matching the stage show for whatever era the current was that they were playing. So the further back in time they went the more indicative the stage represented of that time period in their career! Right back to the very earliest days, one amp on stage, a back drop of a high school gym with a mirror ball as the light show! It brought back such great memories of concerts I have attended over the decades. In standard Rush concerto style with a single long mid-show intermission... They played a sequence of all the "intermission video's" that they have used over the years... But in blooper reals... Absolutely hilarious... Best comedy show around... Everything from the Watch Maker Gnomes, to the Austrian Umpa band, to the Scottish bag-pipers, to dragons smoking cigars! The encore had Eugene Levy dressed up in SCTV garb and talking about this little unknown band from Toronto, as the came on to play 2112 and songs from their earliest albums... The crowd was energized and cheering at every break in the entourage!!! What can I say, maybe the best Rush Concert of all time!

No retro music that made them famous

by BigtimeRushFan on 2015-02-05ACC - Toronto

I,ve been a rush fan for 40 years and went to the last to performances and didn't know one song they played. They only played the songs that made them famous on the encore which is the ones the fans all know and love. If you didn't by the new album and had never heard the new album then you heard it live sitting in your seat perplexed that there wasn't any of the old song being played. I'd like to see the play list before I go again. They really missed the boat. I think is was wrong to assume all the old fans had purchased the new album.

Clockwork Angels An Exraoridinary RUSH Experience!

by Python46 on 2013-08-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Friday July 26, 2013

Rock Musician greats Neil Peart, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee continue to amaze everyone with their great Rock music. Their imagination and innovative use of sound, mechanical props and video magic that kept everyone super entertained. Video screens that move to the music is too profound for description. Time Machine was innovative, Clockwork Angels is just over the top incredible for a visual and sound experience. The clockwork mechanical machines seems to flow perfectly from Time Machine‘s concept. Now their tours flow together. They have made the whole concert a true family event, and something that everyone goes home fully satisfied in one way but wanting more and more of the show in another way. The use of short movies, The Watchmaker as an example, is an escape to an imaginative world we all wish we lived in. Funny, classic and a great way to lead up into a great song. Their videos have always been great. Their music has meaning and always there is a story. Tom Sawyer is a great example, so is Subdivisions. What was an unexpected addition half way through, the Clockwork Angels String Orchestra. Not synthesized, real sound from some classic instruments, Violins and Cellos. They had everyone Rocking too. Like a cheering section with instruments. Another surprise is the fireworks, Bam! Everyone jumped. Not known for pyrotechnics or fireworks again another addition. Some huge flames and fireworks at truly unexpected times. Excellent! From their first radio play to first album, CD or concert, once you have seen or heard these masters make their music, you are hooked. Fly By Night, 2112, Hard Working Man, YYZ, Subdivisions, Carnies, and Clockwork Angels…..so many hits, so many shows. There is and only will be one RUSH, not duplicated, not imitated only 3 masters that are true to their sound, their story and their dedication to getting it right for every show. Yes, all that music created is from three musicians. Too profound for words. Neil has a drum solo in both the first part and a bigger one in the second part. He does his drum kit spin and change over, it’s so cool! Alex’s guitar playing is unbelievable and full of his emotion. You feel it. You see it. Geddy’s technical bass shredding just blows everyone away. Together it’s just magic! At intermission Geddy addressed the audience “you are watching us age before your eyes,” Great having the break and a chance to take in the first half of the show and talk to people. So many air guitarists and air drummers. You just can’t help yourself. That’s why music is the best therapy! Thanks Geddy, thanks Alex and thanks Neil. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has thanked you too. Inducted Members in 2013! You never cease to amaze us. Rock and Roll forever Boys. Your still those three young guys I saw back in 1977, All The World’s A Stage and you own it! Man, what a great show!!! Nothing beats your LIVE Performance! There was a celebration of RUSH, a party and everyone had a great time. Fantastic staff at Rogers Arena. I saw so many younger children in the audience at this show too. A family event. The audience still had the RUSH hardcore fans from the 1970’s onward. Well done for a great show Everyone.

These guys are still rocking hard after 40 years, diverse set list and super tight. It was finally my first time seeing Rush, more of an experience than a show.

Rush was amazing although the middle portion was a little long listening to too many songs no one was familiar with. They did their best songs at the beginning and towards the end. Wish they had played Limelight and The Trees.

    Great performance, bad sound

by bloomer on 2013-08-09Enmax Centrium - Red Deer

Great show. Rush is still really amazing and Neil Peart is worth the price of admission by himself. My only complaint other than the show starting 1 hour late is the sound didn't seem right. It was very loud, which is to be expected, but at times it was hard to pick out the individual instruments as it all just came across as noise. Having said that, thank you to Rush for the show and for helping flood victims.
