Santana great, venu sux
by OriginalFan on 2011-09-02Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 3 out of 5One of the best guitarists of the genre, and it was incredible to hear him play. The band was so tight and innovative. I am so happy I have finally got to hear him live. But OMG, the venue! A hockey rink? The sound was bad for the first two numbers, muddy, couldn't distinguish instruments, the bass overpowered even the three drum kits! Fortunately it was toned down and re-balanced before the "big hits" started. It still was never a "great" sound from the stage. There was a large screen behind the band that showed close-ups of them while playing, and a lot of other neat stuff (video clips, etc). HOWEVER, the seats we were in only see less than half of the screen! There was a huge bank of speakers hanging in front of it. We were not told when we bought tix that the seats had obstructed view. Isn't that just a common courtesy? Shouldn't I have paid less because of that? Instead, I paid a $12 "convenience" fee on top of the ticket price. So, go see Santana if you get the chance, he and his band are great. But stay away from CUC for anything but a hockey game.
