Sarah McLachlan - School of Music Night
by Wendy Norbom on 2024-04-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonWhat a joyful experience, like a concert in her living room. It opened with the performances of students from SMSOM. It took me back to being a teenager, playing the piano after my RCM Exam. How frightened I was to perform in the Jubilee. I just loved their ability and courage to come out and play for a full house. I can only imagine how proud they were, their families and Sarah - with her passion for this endeavor. Sarah invited Serena Ryder, an added bonus, to perform. Serena was amazing - what talent. She blew me away and was so interactive with the audience. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. Sarah shared the backstories for her song inspirations. I have seen her perform several times because I have been a "fan"from the very beginning. Her songs are the soundtrack of my own life. Both performers played one instrument and sang. Sarah had an exceptional accompanist/singer. So much talent to make you play your instrument and sing so beautifully. The gift of Sarah is once in a lifetime. And Serena is another gifted performer. Additionally, the venue is amazing. I love the Jubilee. The cost of the refreshments and snacks was superb, Sarah's swag staff were pleasant and helpful, the venue employees were so kind and ready to assist. I dislike going to Roger's Place - way to expense to park and refreshments are outrageous. I love the experience of a smaller crowd and am willing to pay more for that. I would also like to donate to SMSOM and be present for fundraisers help for them. This is an awesome gift for our children. I loved music all through school and as I understand, many children do not experience what was more or less normal, when I was a child. Thank you for an exceptional experience! Hopefully, Sarah will come back for the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy Tour. I'd love to see her again.
