  • Awesome show if you have kids!

by xvassilli on 2014-05-06Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Sure its'not cirque du soleil but you are not paying 200 a ticket...you only pay $20. Probably not very interesting for adults but if you have kids 5 years old and under it's perfect for them.

  • Shrine Circus was amazing!

We just absolutely had a fantastic time at the circus. This was the first one our kids have gone to and they had a blast! Still talking about it! Great family night out! Staff was amazing, face painters, and of course the Shrines themselves were great!

This was our third time going to the circus with my girls. Like always they are always in love with the show & can't stop talking about it for days.

We took our Grandkids and overall we laughed and had fun. Disappointing to see most of the corporate sponsored seats EMPTY, when there are so many children that can't afford to go. The prices charged for the Camel and horse rides were ridicules. The bouncy house could have been free for the kiddies. The circus seems to be going down hill, same stuff getting less and less entertaining. Where have all the animals gone ??

  • Al Shamal Shrine Circus a bit of a let down

by Tellsitlikeitis on 2014-05-06Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I have been to the Shrine Circus at Rexall Place and found the smaller venue more enjoyable. I am not an animal rights activist, but I was left wondering why they used animals at all. The children enjoyed riding the camels before, at intermission and after the event, but they really didn't add anything to the performances. At one point, the camels went round and round the middle ring with a zebra, but didn't really do anything spectacular. The same goes for the black leopard and the Makak monkeys. Very few times were all 3 rings used at once, so it would have been better with just 2. The motorcycle on the high tension wire for the grand finale was a real let down, as there's no way it could have fallen off of the wire (since it was attached). I really enjoyed the "Quick Change" act where the lady was able to change her outfit in the blink of an eye. I also enjoyed the "Cirque du Soleil" type performance of the female acrobat performing with the ribbon attached to the ceiling. She also was very good showing off her flexibility when she was in the center ring.

  • Shriners Circus

Very disappointing; I know the animal thing may be a thing of the past but that's what a circus is. If you are going to eliminate the elephants and the lions then you need to step up the performance. Definitely was geared towards really young children, not even a bit interesting for an adult. Won't be going again.

  • Circus was a let down.

by Hillie on 2014-05-06Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5

The circus was quite a disappointment. Due to the animal restrictions they barely had any animals. The ones the did have could barely do any cool tricks. Just jump from platform to platform. They really seemed to try and fill the time slot with a lot of weak acts. Some of the acrobatics were quite cool but not enough to fill 2 hours worth. I found myself being quite bored. My kids were quite bored as well. The circus was a big let down.

  • Shrine Circus not worth it!

Terrible performances. Pathetic animals (a bison?!?). Not with it!!!

  • Disappointed

The only four star performance was given by the young contortionist. Everything else was hokey.

It was a great show for the family and kids, lets all remember that the show is not cirque du soleil. The price was good ,i paid 48 for my family (4) and it was for a great cause .I would recommend it to all people with kids .

  • Not the circus I remember!

    by Mom2two on 2011-07-22Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

I would only recommend this to younger viewers, kids probably 7 and under would enjoy. The elephants only performed for about 5 min, the clowns overdid things just a bit, and adults were yelling get on with it........lol. There were more clown acts than actual circus acts. My daughter is two and she screamed with delight and liked it and at the end of the day that is all that matters!

  • Shrine Circus. Disappointing

The circus itself was a disappointment. Very outdated and boring

  • Would not recommend

    by JC2011 on 2011-07-21Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

The intermission was longer then the entire show. Performances were nothing exciting. I would not recommend it to anyone. The only thing I enjoyed was the elephants and it was the shortest act. The show kinda reminded me of America's Got Talent and the performers were the ones that did not make it through to the show.

Great show...much better than 3 years ago. Quite a few animals, and different from the norm. eg. a bison. Good transition from act to act.

  • Shrine Circus is gone downhill

    by Domo22 on 2011-03-25Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

I don't remember the circus being this boring!! I took a 3 year old and she wasn't even entertained the entire time. The people we went with were there last year as well and stated that the circus was the EXACT same- right down to the jokes. Time to spruce it up or move on!

AWESOME! I loved the circus it was like travelling back in time!

  • Enjoyed the elephant and kamel ride!

by MomBroke on 2011-03-22Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

My 1 and 3 years old kids did enjoy the elephant and the kamel rides, but the price of $10 per person per ride was very expensive. The show was not that interesting and the number of kinds of animals was limited.

  • The circus was LAME

    by Artie13 on 2011-03-22Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5

I remember the circus as being a grand event with all the animals and performers. There was very few animals, and very few acts. the show had just started and it was intermission, and then shortly after that it was over. The performances were good but there was not enough. The animal acts were pathetic. I remember when all the tigers and lions were in a big cage and they did lots of tricks, not just ran around a circle or jumped from one stand to another. There was also more than one Elephant in the show. And since when do children run around at the circus????. The rides on the animals was great for the kids, but not really necessary if you had kept them more entertained.Too bad they let PETA influince their show that much that what we saw did not resemble a circus event.
