my 2 granddaughters aged 7 and 5 were bored with most of the show. I can remember the circus from my childhood and sorry but this didn't even come close. needs more clown acts, what about the trick dogs, the jumping buffalo was unique, and the motorcycle caught their attention but the balance was boring

Honestly we found the circus a little boring. Also some of the animals, like the lion, looked a little sick & skinny. I kept thinking PETA was going to bust down at any minute and shut it down

    shrine circus

by alistair on 2011-03-21Stampede Corral - Calgary

It was a great show.. very pricey for fun once inside. Lost the attention of my 21/2 yr old so we had to leave 20 minutes early.. so maybe geared for older children and/or more so adults.

    Shrine Circus was somewhat disappointing

by LadyJ on 2011-03-21Stampede Corral - Calgary

We were somewhat disappointed in the circus. We hadn't been for many years so took our young grandchildren. The clowns weren't at all funny - pretending to be dead to collect funeral expenses is not funny in my books. The animals seemed tired and not very energetic. The intermission was long so more people could ride the elephant. Our granddaughter was disappointed that she only got to slide down the slide 4 times (which cost $5 I might add). Where were the trapeze artists, the clowns, the excitement?? There were not many people there and I am afraid if they don't improve the show it will just fizzle out.

    Poor Animals!

by BakinGal on 2011-03-17Rexall Place - Edmonton

The animals were so dirty and uncared for-turnoff.

It would have been better if we were on the other side because they only had the animals facing one side and they bowed to only that side.

    Balloon Bummer

    by mama5kids on 2011-03-16Rexall Place - Edmonton

Circus itself was OK, the flashing lights and spot lights, were enough to give me a headache, maybe I'm just getting old.........but the kids enjoyed so thats all that mattered. Other than that, I hate balloons at events like this because they are always in the way and then the kids can't see it there is balloons in front of them, very annoying.

    Show was fantastic

by lijake on 2011-03-16Rexall Place - Edmonton

The show was awesome. my husband and I enjoyed it as much as our boys ( age 4 and 18mnths) did. the price was cheap for a two and a half hour show and they did a great job at keeping the childrens attention. People are always complaining of the cost of the lights and stuff you can buy but the reality is that that stuff is always over priced at kids events. HELLO that's how they make their money!! I mean come on people your only paying 12 bucks for your kids to see the show. All in all I would recommend this event to other families it was a typical circus show and if that's what you want to see then you will enjoy it. It's all worth it to see the expression on your kids faces.

    Good Fun...

by EmJane on 2011-03-15Rexall Place - Edmonton

We took our 2 year old and it was her first experience at an event like this. She had a great time except that we left about 10 mins early as she was starting to get antzy.

We went home half way through

by RickyRoo on 2011-03-15Rexall Place - Edmonton

I took my 3-year-old son to the circus, spent a ridiculous amount of money on parking, his hot dog and drink, his toy (that stopped working next day) and that turned out to be a waste when he said he wanted to go home shortly after the intermission. He was more entertained by his toy than the circus itself. The acts were boring... how can a small child appreciate watching young women twirl around and show off their flexability for ten straight minutes? He can't. He was bored. The only positive thing about the whole evening is that we didn't have to deal with traffic when leaving.

    Entertaining for All Ages

by KAPTY on 2011-03-15Rexall Place - Edmonton

I purchased the tickets as a surprise for my daughter. She was star struck the entire show and hasn't stopped talking about it since. I too, was reminded how much I use to love the circus as a child and my love was renewed again. Can't wait until next year!

    Circus was disappointing

    by Mom2yearold on 2011-03-15Rexall Place - Edmonton

Waited 30 min in line to park at Rexall. Should have parked across the street for 3 dollars less! Too much preable introducing the circus big wigs & soldiers. Clowns not remotely funny. Animals looked sad & mangy. Some animals came out to the ring but did one circle around & were taken out. Animals basically just prances around the ring in circles....boring! We were very disappointed. Also it was very difficult to see any action if it was not going on in the ring in front of you.

    Brutal

by Heleny on 2011-03-15Rexall Place - Edmonton

What else can I say, it was brutal. I will never go again, and have told all my friends how bad it was. A waste of time and money.

The Shrine was not worth a dime!

    by dpaq76 on 2011-03-15Rexall Place - Edmonton

I remember the Shrine circus being much more exciting when I was a child. The show seemed unrehearsed and it lacked that professional touch. None of the acts were great. The lion just laid down the whole time, the bison was slidding all over the arena floor when he entered (I'm suprised he didn't injure himself or the poor girl riding him). Some of the horses co operated, some didn't. One of the four baboons did tricks. The jugglers had a hard time keeping their pins in the air and the clowns lacked energy to do anything funny. The ring master didn't know how to lighten the mood when the animals wouldn't perform, instead we just sat in silence waiting for the next act. The only time we heard him speak was to promote their overpriced line of LED toys trying to guilt parents into purchasing one for their kids. The slides/animal rides were pretty expensive considering we waited for over 30 mins prior to the show and didn't get our turn. Then we waited another 30 mins after to show to go finally get our turn on the slide. Really disappointing experience, I will not be returning to see the Shrine circus. Big thumbs down.

    Fun for all ages

    by missb2u on 2011-03-15Rexall Place - Edmonton

Great family event. It was fun or children of all ages. Our group consisted of people aged 4 months to aged 38 and all 10 of us had fun. It has improved from previous years we attended as in the past they offered rides and jumpy castles at intermission and it ended up being an hour intermission trying the nerves of young and old but now they are at the end so it much more organized. Kids are already asking if we can go next year!!

The animal acts were good and so were the acrobats. The clowns were very lame and their act wasn't really geared to kids. It is great family entertainment for a really good price that people can afford.

I love to support the Shriners, I believe in the great work they do in and for our community. I felt sorry for the animals used in the performances, not because I believe they are abused, not in the least...but because, they were just sad animals....More acrobats, more action sequences need to be added, and leave the poor animals out of the circus....
