About
SKIZZY MARS IN CONCERT:
Leftfield hip hop wunderkind Skizzy Mars is not afraid to do his own thing. The rising rapper has earned a devoted following in just a short time with a unique sound that pays homage to hip hop icons like Kanye and Wiz Khalifa while incorporating elements of pop punk and indie rock. The result is a catchy, hook-filled mix of styles that serves as the perfect scaffolding for his witty, melodic flow. In concert the young gun is all swagger and energy, spitting his razor-sharp verses with the confidence and passion of someone who knows he's going places. From the crisp hand claps and jocular lyrics of "Douchebag" to the sultry synths and skittering beat of "Do You There", Skizzy Mars is getting down to the beat of his own drummer, and fans in the know are getting down right along with him.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Like many up-and-coming rappers of his generation, Manhattan-based MC Skizzy Mars got his start on the internet. He posted his debut track "Douchebag" in 2011 to considerable online buzz and followed up with a string of increasingly polished songs that earned him a loyal fanbase. Working with producers like G-Eazy and Jhameel, his rise continued with the mixtapes Phases (2013) and Pace (2014). His unique sound and catchy flow attracted the attention of major label execs, and in 2015 he released his EP The Red Balloon Project with distribution from Warner Music Group. The record cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard 200, a testament to his arrival in the mainstream and a signal of big things to come for the young rapper.
