We drove to Hamilton from New Brunswick to bring our Star Wars fanatic 9 year old to the concert. We all were amazed by the show....it was spectacular!!
This was an excellent concert for all Star Wars and Movie music fans. The music, film clips and lighting effects tied in the themes of all the Star Wars films to provide a new and fresh look at an epic movie franchise.
Excellent show! Watching the movies before the show made it even better! Enjoy!
My brother and I took his two boys, ages 9 and 6, and we all loved it. The boys, who often have trouble sitting still, sat mesmerized the whole time. It was amazing for us to realize that the orchestra was right there performing while you watched clips from all of the movies. It definitely was an event that I will remember for the rest of my life. If you are a Star Wars fan and you get a chance to go, do miss it!!!
This event was truly amazing. As you are watching movie clips you totally forget that the music is being played live as the musicians are that good! Amazing sound! Nothing beats a full orchestra.
Star Wars in Concert was even better than I thought it would be!! The Orchestra was perfect and super talented. The Conductor was top notch, not to mention a very entertaining performance from Anthony Daniels. The music alone gave me chills it was so good. Just like watching the movies. The laser light show was a very impressive addition! I highly recommend this show to anyone and everyone!!
I went especially to see the Stars Wars Symphony Orchestra, and it did not disappoint. A huge tight ensemble playing live music in time to movie tracks...very skilled. The passion of the pieces was evident right from the opening. The emcee was charming, and the movie clips were well chosen for theme and excitement. It was an altogether amazingly entertaining evening. Thank you for the experience!
As this was the second time that I have attended "Star Wars in Concert", you may assume that I enjoyed myself. One of my sons and I saw the Air Canada Centre concert in November, and liked it so much that we had the whole 6 person family with us this time. There were a number of small changes in the Hamilton show, including the elimination of the fire effects just before the intermission. The other differences were likely audience and time influenced. We attended the Saturday matinee show at Copps, and likely there were many more young children here than the Toronto show on a Thursday night during school season. This had the effect of the audience not having the same energy, or even reacting to the humorous parts of the show. I felt that this set Anthony Daniels off of his game a bit, as he appeared to wait for applause or laughter several times, when none really came. The lack of audience energy could also be because of the 2:00pm start time. Matinees never seem to have the same pep as night shows. The presentation, though, was wonderful again. None of the 4 family members who had not previously seen the show had a single negative thing to say. The new conductor and the orchestra were fabulous, of course, and Mr. Daniels is the perfect choice to narrate the saga. Overall, another great Star Wars experience, and actually, this time we had a better opportnuity to enjoy the artifacts and actors milling about the arena foyer. If you like grand orchestral presentations, or are even a slight fan (is there such a creature?) of Star Wars, I would highly recommend this show.
Excellent show the music had me feeling goose bumps all over. i went home and started watching the movies again in surround sound. Worth every bit of the price.
My son was very impressed and excited about the show it was and experience he will never forget!!!
Amazing show. Forget at times that the music is being performed live instead of watching a disc. Perfectly timed and choreographed.
I took my family and enjoyed it. This was our kids first experience with live music and I don't believe it will be their last. My only complaint would be the venue which doesn't give the full impact in terms of sound immersion that I'm used to. I should have expected that I know! Anyways this is a good introduction to the symphony for the next generation of kid's that normally wouldn't be interested in such a presentation if it was not presented with a Star Wars theme. I wish it was a little bit cheaper so more people could have enjoyed the event as there was a lot of empty seats.
The symphony was fantastic, I especially liked the narrator, he did a great job in between, and the light show was great.
It was fantastic. The visuals to the timing of the symphony orchestra was unbelieveable Great
Star Wars In Concert was a great show and I highly recommend anyone who is a fan of John Williams' music and Star Wars in general to go see it. That said, we had a less than spectacular time at Copp's Coliseum. There was a general lack of organization when we arrived as it turned out that the upper deck wasn't open (where we had our tickets) and that we would have better seats in the lower bowl but we had to go all the way back to the entrance to find the table that had the proper tickets for us. It was an annoyance that we would have rather not had to deal with. One of our actual seats was also broken but we dealt with that. It would have also been nicer to have had the concert in a proper music hall as opposed to the coliseum as the sound quality wasn't great. It wasn't awful but it was nowhere near as rich as orchestras we've heard in proper concert halls. It was nice for them to come back for an encore though and Anthony Daniels did a great job as the host/narrator. My six year old son loved every minute of it though. He loved the amazing video sequences, as well as being able to see how much work goes into producing the music for the movies he loves. So go see SWIC, but I wouldn't rush out to see it at Copp's Coliseum any time soon.
It was very well done! My son and I enjoyed it tremendously. We would attend again!
It was like living the experience again with all the characters according to the right them, Anakin, Obi Wan, Luke, Leia, Han....but I think what we liked most and didn't expected was the narration from Antony Daniels our C3PO that gave the concert a little bit of spicy and exciting emotion ;)
this was the best could not have been better anyone that enjoys star wars this was a must see.
Anthony Daniels was a charming narrator and the orchestra was awesome! The whole show was great fun and any Star Wars fan would have a great time!
I absolutely LOVED Star Wars in Concert!!! It was so amazing! When they started I had tears in my eyes, this concert really meant a lot to me. I've been a fan of Star Wars all my life, and the orchestra really made the movie come alive! While I watched the MASSIVE screen play clips, I was fooled into thinking there was a music recording, the orchestra was so perfect it sounded EXACTLY like the true soundtrack. I couldn't decide which to watch, the screen or the beautiful orchestra, and I flipped back and forth. I couldn't believe Anthony Daniels was actually there to narrate. He is such a lovable and fun person, he brought the story even more to life. He experienced the actual thing, so he could truly make the narration come alive. The little exhibit and characters throughout Copps was a wonderful touch also. Getting a picture with two Stormtroopers was hilarious, and I loved that they added that little touch. Overal I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this to ANY Star Wars fan, or even ones who aren't, becuase it will definately make you love Star Wars, and for me, love it all over again. I just wish it was longer...
