Star Wars in concert a must see!

by Ahmie on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

While I was uncertain whether or not I would enjoy this show, I was surprised to find it was unbelievably fantastic. Only negative thing I have to say about it was that it was slightly too short. I doubt you have to be a fan of Star Wars in order to enjoy the show at all. While I was concerned in the beginning, my doubts were quickly washed away. Anthony Daniels (C3PO in the movies) narrates the show in between each song and tells the story of Star Wars. Each song is accompanied by a three story screen depicting moments from each of the movies in time to the music. It was quite captivating. Also along with the show, was a exhibition of items released from the Star Wars vaults. Original costumes, props and concept art galore. If you have the opportunity to make it to one of the showings, then I would recommend that you do so for a enjoyable time. I was certainly glad that I was there. A must see for the Star Wars fan!

SW in concert was a Force-ful performance!

    by JediMaster45 on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

The show was great! I would definitely recommend it to friends, family and strangers on the street! Anthony Daniels was amazing, the show wouldn't have been the same without him! The musicians did a great job as well. The only down side was there didn't seem to be any exhibits or official characters in costume.

Anyone not sure on whether to go? GO!!! The show was amazing, the orchestra and conductor were fabulous.... WOW!!! From the moment you get there, to see the props, and characters from the movies, to sitting in your seat waiting for the show to start is an amazing experience. My husband is a HUGE Star Wars fan and had goose bumps right from the start. GO,GO,GO is all I can say. Wish we could go again!!!

    Star Wars Was Great.

by SternRules on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

Definately one show you don't want to miss if you're a Star Wars fan. Seeing the orchestra play the music live just adds an other dimension. They had props from the movie there as well as people in the character costumes like Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers. Anthony Daniels who played C3PO was there as the narrator. That was great. Definately a Must See show.

Star Wars in Concert was worth the experience!

by teabiscuit on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

This was definitely worth the experience. The ensemble was beautifully set, to a point you don't realize that the orchestra is right there. The viewing screens take you back to the movies. One thing that I would suggest, the characters that were present during intermission, were not available after the show. I didn't know that they were going to be there, and would have brought my camera for this. The light show and narration made the experience very enjoyable. Well worth it!!! It appeals to all ages.

Star Wars fan or not - fabulous music!

by LittleGreenDude on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

Epic! Star Wars music is fabulous. Even if you haven't been a huge fan of the movies, the music is unforgettable. With the clips from the movies played on the big screen during the orchestral performance - along with the light show - now I want to see the movies again, and will view them with a difference. The narration from "C3PO" was absolutely delightful! Displays and photo opts with characters was a real plus for fans of all ages.

Star Wars: Taking epic to a whole new level!

    by PrincessLeia2010 on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

My best friend and I are hard-core Star Wars fans, so when this came to town, there was no way we were going to miss it! Not a single detail was over-looked! You could tell that the stage appearance was pulled right from the Star Wars movies, from the lighting looking like Tie Fighter wings, to the Conductor's podium resembling the pad that Darth Vader kneels upon in The Empire Strikes Back when he's speaking with the Emperor. The music was incredible, and the film clips that were chosen to go with were perfect. As my best friend was saying to me after the show, when you hear that music on a soundtrack, you start to create a mental montage, and to actually see it done was awesome! Having Anthony Daniels, or C-3P0 to us Star Wars fanatics, was the perfect choice for the narrator. I definitely screamed when he revealed the gold vest, and started to quote meteor field statistics. Brilliant! The museum exhibit was awesome, and having people dressed up as actual movie characters for photo ops was an unexpected bonus! Please, PLEASE bring this back to Hamilton! My best friend and I would LOVE to see it again!

    star wars in concert

by QTQI on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

If you like the star wars movies, if you like the music, if you like how the younger generation responds to science classics, well sprinkle a little of this; the symphony players, a little more of this; a movie spokesman and conductor, how about more of this; a screen to accompany the music, a few clips ! Photo clips with the characters, adults are allowed ! A great experience for fans, musicians and younger guys and gals. Time seems to be measured by the musical composing genious of John Williams and some star trek movie notables. They are all present day composers of fantastic music ! I went to see star trek themes, although no screen, it is all about the music, enjoy all !

    Star Wars was awesome

    by Willow99 on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

The show itself was awesome, we had front row floors and a great experience for us and the kids. End of July and the air conditioning was on full blast in Copps Col. so the children were complaining of the cold... it was freezing with air blowing full force on us! Recommend taking a sweater! Otherwise the show, music, total presentation was great.

Stupendous! The huge orchestra was energetic and wondeful and I loved C3P0 as the commentator. He was just right! Copps was not full but full enough to provide a great atmosphere.

    Excellent Orchestra

by Seilatan on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

Orchestra is phenomenal! Presentation was mediocre and not what was expected from all the advertising. We left at the Intermission because we were disappointed with the program. The venue could use painted lines on the steps for going down the stairs while the arena is still well lighted. It was very difficult to see the next descending step going down to our seats.

    Star Wars, in concert

    by Jenn250 on 2010-07-25Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

A fun show for Star Wars fans. A little pricey and full of promises that didn't really come through. Great music, a talented symphony with some great close-ups by video camera on the musicians. The "world's largest LED screen" was disappointing. You couldn't really see what the images were as the resolution was just not there. The acoustics in Copps Colleseum aren't great. The choir was a nice touch, but difficult to hear and some people never realized they were there. They should have been more visible (you can't really do anything about the acoustics, but they could have stood on bleachers or something to raise them up a little). Anthony Daniels was a great addition, but the sequencing of the video footage was unorganized and repetitive. Perhaps a chronological representation of the films would have been better. The lasers were not impressive and could have been more dramatic or creative. C'mon people, these are STAR WARS fans. Surely you can do the movies justice by having a suitable laser show. Over all, a good show, great music, too expenive for the final result and leaving something to be desired for both children and adults. Not a great tribute to the series.
