Santana at the Joint in Las Vegas

by Chuckydee on 2011-11-15The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Sound men at the boards obviously have damaged ears. A touch lower in volume would have been easier to get the subtleties. Played his familiar tunes and did about 2 1/4 hours. Loved his guitar tone and the set went through his entire career. Musicians were good and even dropped hints of other tunes in the songs (Summertime, etc.). Could have done without the two sermon monologues. Yes, we understand Peace, Love and Devotion! There was a whole set of different percussion and a drum solo seemed to be there to give the band a break. Also, the piano noodlings did not fit into the Latin rhythms. Good show though, nice length and good venue.

    Santana is a Guitar Hero

by OntarioBoy on 2011-11-15The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

I've been to a lot of concerts and this was one of the best. For over 2 and a half hours my 2 friends and I were mesmerized by the incredible talent of the guitar legend, Carlos Santana. He and his tight band put on an amazing show on his last, of three nights, at The Joint at The Hard Rock in Las Vegas. Vintage hits were played with vintage photos and video shown on a big screen behind the band. Included in those were shots of a young Santana at Woodstock. The band also did a fantastic version of AC/DC s Back in Black. As an added bonus the comedian George Lopez came out and gave an hillarious stand up routine to give the boys a short break. This concert ended up being the highlight of my trip to Las Vegas!

Santana is, was and always will be...

by Leannyanny on 2011-05-08The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

I've been listening to Santana since the 70's, i was turning 40 this April and thought it would be fantastic to see Santana again!! The love and light energy that he and his fans produce live is the most amazing experience. This was the second time i had the privilege of being within this light, the first time was in Edmonton in 2008. The Edmonton show was life changing for me, never before had i felt that much love at a concert!! I was moved to tears!!! Carlos introduced us to his wife Cindy in Las Vegas, she played the most incredible drum solo!!! I have to admit opening with ac/dc's back in black threw me for a loop, but soon realized he was paying tribute to other amazing guitar players. Keep sharing the light and love Carlos XOXOX

    like a trip through time

by Deanna50 on 2011-04-22The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Although he came on 15 minutes late, the show was fantastic. The first few songs seemed a little off sound wise, or it took the first few songs for my ears to adjust to the volume (it has been a while since I went to a concert). The set list was like a walk through a field of memories from my life. Both great and not so great memories that Carlos has helped me endure through his music. He played for two hours and 40 minutes with a few pauses for some of his comments. Great in everyway.

Santana was his usual entertaining self.

by SoundScape on 2011-01-07The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The Santana concert in Vegas was quite good. He surrounds himself with great musicians and is one himself - one of the best, if not the best - (along the likes of Sambora, Blackmore, (Neil) Young, (Jon) Lord) - you may have noticed that I left off Eric Clapton - who, in my opinion, is the most "over-rated" guitar player in the world - good vocalist though. He (Santana) is very self-promoting but so are many successful musicians/performers - Gene Simmons, Elton John, Pee Wee Herman - but that is part of his success. I think that his real success lies with his type of music and his fantastic playing abilities and his passion for his music and his "licks." I have seen him (and his ever-changing band) many times and I am always amazed at his dexterity when playing and his on-going passionate playing. This is why I go. I also never get tired of hearing him, and his band, play. By chance, I ran into the his drummer at the Sam Ash, in the afternoon before the concert and so enjoyed "his" playing twice in one day - how cool is that. I play drums myself, so also was doubly impressed. All in all, another great Santana concert. The venue was okay, but without "tiered" seating, it was a bit of a struggle to see well - especially with an ass........ jumping up every few minutes to either dance or photo/video the event. Why in hell don't they outlaw cell phone cameras? (Duh, because they simply couldn't.) I am sure that I will pay big bucks again to see another Santana show - as they are always consistently entertaining and to me, represent good value for money spent.

    Santana At it's Best

by georgiebear on 2010-09-27The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The best concert I have ever been to. I was really looking forward to this and even took my 10 year old girl to it. Would do it again!
