The Santana concert in Vegas was quite good. He surrounds himself with great musicians and is one himself - one of the best, if not the best - (along the likes of Sambora, Blackmore, (Neil) Young, (Jon) Lord) - you may have noticed that I left off Eric Clapton - who, in my opinion, is the most "over-rated" guitar player in the world - good vocalist though. He (Santana) is very self-promoting but so are many successful musicians/performers - Gene Simmons, Elton John, Pee Wee Herman - but that is part of his success. I think that his real success lies with his type of music and his fantastic playing abilities and his passion for his music and his "licks." I have seen him (and his ever-changing band) many times and I am always amazed at his dexterity when playing and his on-going passionate playing. This is why I go. I also never get tired of hearing him, and his band, play. By chance, I ran into the his drummer at the Sam Ash, in the afternoon before the concert and so enjoyed "his" playing twice in one day - how cool is that. I play drums myself, so also was doubly impressed. All in all, another great Santana concert. The venue was okay, but without "tiered" seating, it was a bit of a struggle to see well - especially with an ass........ jumping up every few minutes to either dance or photo/video the event. Why in hell don't they outlaw cell phone cameras? (Duh, because they simply couldn't.) I am sure that I will pay big bucks again to see another Santana show - as they are always consistently entertaining and to me, represent good value for money spent.
