About

Switchfoot are a Grammy-winning rock band from San Diego, California. Formed in 1996 by brothers Jon and Tim Foreman and drummer Chad Butler, the group released three albums before gaining major label attention following several prominent syncs in the 2002 romantic drama A Walk to Remember. In 2003, Switchfoot released their breakout fourth album The Beautiful Letdown, which went triple-platinum behind the band’s first Hot 100-charting singles “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move.” Their 2005 follow-up, Nothing Is Sound, hit a career-peak No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and the band would log another three Top 10 albums with 2011’s Vice Verses, 2014’s Fading West and 2016’s Where the Light Shines Through. Additionally, Switchfoot have earned six No. 1s on the Top Christian Albums chart, and their 2009 effort Hello Hurricane nabbed the band’s first Grammy for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album. In 2023, Switchfoot released The Beautiful Letdown (Our Version), a 20th anniversary re-recording via their self-run independent label, lowercase people records.

    Hello Hurricane!!!

by JaySean on 2010-01-24The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

This was my first time seeing switchfoot live, and it was everything I could have hoped for. They rocked every song from their new album, plus some old classics. Jon Foreman was right on it. It was almost hard to distinguish their album from their hits, that's how good Hello Hurricane is. Overall great music and atmosphere, I would definitely go again.

    ex-static switchfoot!

by lizzylizard on 2010-01-23The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

with the first song of the album, john stood on the bar across from the stage and blew the fans away with his vocals. switchfoot played the whole new album and of course many of the crowds faves. i was blown away with the vocals of the lead and can't wait to see the progression of this band into the realms of u2. i know its quite a statement to make but if they keep their Focus, there are no limits. absoutely incredible! thanks so much switchfoot.

    Switchfoot was epic

by nochers on 2010-01-23The Starlite Room - Edmonton

Initially I thought seeing Switchfoot at the Starlite room- which is seemed like a pretty small venue for them would be great, but not as epic as some bigger place. But it was soooo good. They are great performers, played a polished show. Jon Foreman is a pretty amazing frontman - not just for writing and all that, but for communicating and engaging the audience. Everything about it made me become a huge fan again after listening for all these years

unbelievably amazing. The concert was epic, switchfoot was unreal as always. Opening band was decent as well! They let some guy from the crowd play the guitar fro stars which was epic! Even got a broken drum stick with chad's autograph on it after the show!

    Best. Show. Ever.

by Anonymous on 2010-01-23The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I came to this show expecting a good performance. I waited in line, got my ticket checked, the usual deal. Went inside, waited for a bit till Switchfoot came on. And from the moment the first note rang through my ears, I was blown away! These really know how to put on a show! They were tight, interactive and all around good mannered on stage! Switchfoot is a must-see live!

    Swtichfoot, as always, was amazing!

by tb4ever on 2010-01-23The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I love Switchfoot concerts, because you get a real personal experience. Jon Foreman comes into the crowd and will wear your hat, or glowstick glasses or whatever. So much better than concerts where the artist stays away from the crowd. Plus we got to meet them after, so there's no better thing than that!

    Switchfoot is AMAZING

by CKWalker on 2010-01-23The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I have been to two shows by switchfoot now and they seem to be able to top themselves which is difficult to do. It was the most incredible time. I have loved these guys for 7 years and this show reinforced why. there was not a single moment where i thought that I was not blown away!

    A show like no other!!

by MiChAeLfromToronto on 2010-01-23The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

For those of you who know switchfoot - their music and lyrics speak for themselves. If you love their music - you MUST see them live. It is unique experience to be treasured. They know how to rock out and really bond with the crowd. If you like their music now, you will love their music (and them) after you see them live! What is unique about Switchfoot is the way they interact with the crowd. Jon (lead singer) will wear peoples hats, shake and even hold peoples hands, borrow peoples cameras to take pictures and video! They are not their to just play music but to really move the audience and really SHARE the moment. I have seen them twice now - each time was special on its own. The first time i saw them was in June of 2009. They were amazing! After the show i heard rumours that the band would come out and sign autographs and hangout. So I waited for an hour while it lightly rained. They came out! They made sure most of everyone got autographs and took pictures with people. Jon signed my cd and I asked him to bring the band back very soon (as the last time they were in Canada was 3 years ago!) and call it coincidence but they really did come back soon...Then someone passed Jon a guitar and he played a song and got everyone to sing with him. I have been to many concerts but none have been like this. I think they chose smaller venues on purpose to some degree; it seems they like the intimacy of being with a crowd of people and not a sea of unknown faces. This last concert Jan 22, 2010@ the Phoenix in Toronto was just as different. This time it was winter. They played ALL of their new album "Hello Hurricane" and some classics. Switchfoot is really one of those bands that are wonderful on cd/mp3 and just amazing live. After seeing them live, you just feel good. I will continue to go to every show they play, when they come to Toronto because they are just that good. I HIGHLY recommend going to see them. They put on an excellent show. The music is wonderful and the band is just plain wholesome goodness. You will not be happy you went to see them I promise. Lets just hope they come back soon ;) PS: They have some really cool shirts too. I recommend buying merch BEFORE the show...

    Amazing performance, awesome message

by Robert7 on 2010-01-23Elements Night Club - Kitchener

Switchfoot put on an amazing performance, with an awesome message. In a world where pain and suffering are so common, and negativity is so prevalent, it was refreshing to hear a band with a positive and spiritual message. There are very few "mainstream" bands that leave you feeling uplifted after a show. Thank God bands like Switchfoot and U2 are still out there. I highly recommend checking Switchfoot out when they perform in your area. I know I will be first in line if or when they return to my area of Ontario, Canada.

    Switchfoot was awesome!

by Tand2Boys on 2010-01-23The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

One word describes the evening: AWESOME! Switchfoot has the rare gift of connecting at a deep level with the audience. I brought my 2 boys (13 and 10 - I am 43). It is AMAZING to enjoy a band of this quality (and clean message) together.

    Switchfoot was Incredible!

by Layman on 2010-01-23The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

The show they put on was by far nothing short of incredible! They've mixed things up on this tour, shuffling around where everyone stands and Jon not starting on the stage. I like how they play the entire cd in order first before doing several songs from their previous albums! For the final song Jon makes his way throughout the crowd for a little bit :) Loved it! Great show!

Better than last time if that's possible

by Lyshee on 2010-01-22Elements Night Club - Kitchener

I saw Switchfoot in London, ON a few years ago and they were amazing! Last night they were even better if that was possible. What I love about Switchfoot is the energy they put into their shows, they don't stop and they love to get the crowd involved, which is amazing. They played their entire new album Hello Hurricane as well as 5 or 6 of their past hits from previous albums. Their encore was three songs and was fantastic as always. I love that they can relate to the audience and really make it feel that your the only ones there just having a great night hanging out with them. They talked about the issues in Haiti which was a really great thing to do, and encouraged us to get involved and make something of ourselves in this world. A few things I wish they would have done; created the bootlegs that they did before. I think that was a great idea and made it memorable merchandise from the concert. It was a disc of the first 5 songs from the show that your were attending and it cost $5. I still have mine from 2 years ago and its great! Also I loved the idea that they were supporting the local Food Banks from the city they performed in. I just wish that they had promoted it more in Kitchener, and they probably would have had a better turn out. When we got there we were the only ones who had food with us (and probably the only ones for the rest of the night) the manager of the venue had no idea about it. It was only once we got inside that we asked the "merch guy" what we were supposed to do with it. I thought it was a fantastic idea that would get youth involved in their community, I just wished it was promoted more. Overall a fantastic performance by you guys again! Can't wait to see you again, maybe next time in California. You always put on a great show and I love how the venues are smaller and its a more intimate performance.

Switchfoot = Beautiful and not a let down

by mgoertz on 2010-01-22Elements Night Club - Kitchener

Amazing venue, and Switchfoot played a spectacular show. They love to please, not only did they play their newest album through but they played older songs; some full through, others in a fun mash style. All I can say is wow!

    Switchfoot was FLIPPIN AWESOME!!

by DianaRama on 2010-01-22Elements Night Club - Kitchener

Line-up wasn't terribly long, got in the club pretty quickly. It was packed, but still had room to jump. The songs were INCREDIBLE! First time they played an album start to finish, and it was awesome! They opened with the lead singer up on a table in the middle of the crowd, then making his way to the stage! That was pretty amazing since he was like 4 feet away from us. They played old songs afterwards; all the great hits: 'Awakening', 'Dare You to Move,' '24,' 'This is Your Life,' 'Red Eye' and others. Overall, a GREAT night!

    Switchfoot suprises

by mikw on 2010-01-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I was expecting an average night of alternative rock but the music was tight and the singer has a great voice. Happily recommended...
