About

Switchfoot are a Grammy-winning rock band from San Diego, California. Formed in 1996 by brothers Jon and Tim Foreman and drummer Chad Butler, the group released three albums before gaining major label attention following several prominent syncs in the 2002 romantic drama A Walk to Remember. In 2003, Switchfoot released their breakout fourth album The Beautiful Letdown, which went triple-platinum behind the band’s first Hot 100-charting singles “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move.” Their 2005 follow-up, Nothing Is Sound, hit a career-peak No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and the band would log another three Top 10 albums with 2011’s Vice Verses, 2014’s Fading West and 2016’s Where the Light Shines Through. Additionally, Switchfoot have earned six No. 1s on the Top Christian Albums chart, and their 2009 effort Hello Hurricane nabbed the band’s first Grammy for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album. In 2023, Switchfoot released The Beautiful Letdown (Our Version), a 20th anniversary re-recording via their self-run independent label, lowercase people records.

    Switchfoot Rocked!

by Mirnando on 2009-07-19The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. It reminded me all over again why they are my favourite band. They played a variety of material which ranged from some of their old music to new songs that are not yet released. They interacted well with the audience and really made everyone feel respected. The crowd really seemed to get into it and was also a variety of age groups.

    Switchfoot Inspiring!!!

by CC21again on 2009-07-18The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Didn't know what to expect with this concert, but wanted to enjoy it with my daughter and her friends. Thoroughly, I mean thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was great to see the crowd of all age groups singing and swaying to the great music. They were very entertaining and down to earth. Their lyrics were inspiring and you could understand nearly everything that was sung. I would recommend them to everyone.

    Great show!

by Bithius55 on 2009-07-18The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Went to see these guys at the pheonix. The show was flawless and the crowd was very energetic and into it. The band through the whole concert kept their fans part of the entertainment, and switched a lot of things up to make the experience more genuine and unique. Will definitely go to see them again and I highly recommend them to others!

    Switchfoot was AWESOME

by grapeyfruit on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

My sister & I showed up a bit late for this event yet we were still able to get close to the stage --- loved the set-up and intimacy of the Phoenix Conert Theatre. The opening band was awesome, very talented and unique and used a variety of instruments. Switchfoot themselves were amazing. Jon Foreman was so interactive, he moved all over both sides of the stage, and even took a song request from the audience. The band was so creative throughout the performance, changing up the songs to play snippets of other current popular songs such as Rihanna's "Umbrella". The whole performance was just amazing, I would definitely see them again live. Best concert I've been to in a long time!!

    Switchfoot's Friendly exhilaration

by museical on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I say Friendly because they really were friendly, you could relate to them. John Foreman worked with the crowd, sung with the crowd, instead of working for it and singing for it. It was almost as if he enjoyed it more than the crowd. The music was blasted with energy, but sometimes just mellowed everyone out. It was exhilarating, the cramped hall, the small stage and the loud music, left me in music withdrawal to this day.

    Switchfoot never lets down!

by meesa on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

This is the third time I've seen them in concert and they always continue to amaze me with their realness, stage presence and audience interaction (especially when Jon comes into the crowd)! LOVE them!

Wish there were 6 stars to rate this event...

by Layman on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Switchfoot is incredibly talented in person and in the studio! They put on a great show always because of their passion and talent, and this was no exception. I liked the smaller venue because it gives it a bit more of a personal feel. These guys are great and their music is nothing short of that as well.

    Switchfoot: Always unforgettable

by concretegirl on 2009-07-16The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I've been a fan for a couple of years and it's been incredible. I've gone to a few of their shows here in Toronto and they have been so consistent every show. Their energy is contagious and their antics are very fun. Music is nothing short of exciting, and the band knows how to entertain a crowd. Switchfoot is a very blessed yet humble band. Look out for their new album "Hello Hurricane" coming this fall!

    Great band, great night

by revel on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

If you have the chance to see Switchfoot live, go and do it. They put on a great show filled with energy. The band is tight and leaves it all out there for the audience. The crowd was loud and signing along all night long. I drove a couple hours to see the show and was not disappointed.

    Intense

by RMACK on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Switchfoot was awesome. They had incredible stage presence, and sounded just as good live as on their record. They had a way of bringing a lot of heart and intensity through the music. Not only do they put on a good show, but they involve their fans and are interacting with their audience. Good show Good time I'd go again in a heartbeat.

    The always amazing Switchfoot!

by tb4ever on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

The concert was everything I wanted and more! I have been a HUGE fan of Switchfoot for a few years now, but have never seen them live before! My only complaint was that it was too short--I didn't want the night to end! It's one thing to love a song, then to see it being played out in front of you, with people all around singing the lyrics with you, and Jon Foreman nearly stepping into the crowd! Ri-dic-u-lous!

Switchfoot, A night with the stars!

by RobK on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

The Pheonix show of Switchfoot was good. They played their classic songs, meant to live, This is your life, Stars, etc... But there was an element that was brought to the show, and one could see how what the crowd brought and the band brought, gave the night a truly memorable effect. It made for a really good and enjoyable show.

by TheMom on 2009-07-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I missed the action, but I dropped off my 16-year-old son and his two friends. When I picked them up they were excited and had had a blast. Switchfoot has a great reputation and is a wonderful and safe event for young people.
