Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

The game was fun but a better job could be done to improve the atmosphere for the fans.

It was a great experience to visit a live NHL game during our vacation time and travel in Canada (home country Germany). Very friendly and helpful staff all around the arena. The game itself was well as the offer of food and drinks was fantastic.

Fun game against the Islanders! It would be helpful to have a staff member at the entrance doors to distinguish the regular line from the one for people with bags.

Our hotel was a 10min walk away and it was a great game going to a shootout to decide the winner which happened to be the home team. All in all a great night out!

  • Damn parking

by Pat on 2025-10-17Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

As always, everything was great, except for the exit. This place opened in 1992 and 33 years later, exiting the parking lot is still an issue. Come on guys, figure it out!!

Always a blast cheering for the Sens — especially when they’re up against my boys’ favourite teams, the Predators and Oilers! The crowd is always fun, the energy is amazing, and the experience never disappoints. It’s always a blast every single time! Go Sens Go! 🇨🇦❤️🥅
