About

Tedeschi Trucks Band is a 12-piece powerhouse ensemble led by the husband/wife duo of guitarist Derek Trucks and singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi, "two of the best roots rock musicians of their generation" (NPR). With their own potent original songwriting alongside an extensive canon of influences, the dynamic all-star band owns a reputation for world-class musical expression bolstered by each album and every performance.

Since forming in 2010, TTB's caravan has traveled countless miles to bring their music to audiences around the world. From sold-out multi-night residencies across America to barnstorming tours through Europe and Japan to the flagship Wheels of Soul annual summer amphitheater tour, the band's shows are an eagerly anticipated highlight of the live music calendar and "nothing short of exhilarating" (Salon). Whether on stage or in the studio, when these supremely talented artists get together, it's a musical experience of profound quality.

    Musically Superb

by Stephberg on 2012-06-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I bought the ticket to see this show on a whim, because I was free that night and I thought it would be a good show. I was SO pleased that I did so! The whole night was just a feast for my ears, and the crowd got so into it that guys were dancing in their seats, in the aisles, and hooting and hollering all show long. Susan Tedeschi's voice is just unreal, and the skill and capability of the entire band is uncommonly excellent.

    Tedeschi Trucks Band a winner

by GBRU on 2012-06-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

This is a dynamic ensemble with great musicality and good showmanship. Susan Tedeschi is a powerful and engaging singer and could have been the star except that Derek Truck's guitar work was amazing. Moreover, no-one tries to "star," but rather the whole group supports each other with each person taking the lead at some time. Another feature of the group was the variety in the program from traditional blues numbers to jazz including a haunting flute piece with Derek backing on guitar. Another treat was the improvised introduction of band members piece - entertaining and inventive. Not sure why volume has to be at 10 in a facility with good acoustics, but a minor quibble.

    Tedeschi Trucks Combo - Delivered!

by Awakingman on 2012-06-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Derek's guitar wept and growled. Susan's voice soothed and sanded and every member of the 9 piece backing band rocked and shone in their time. The first set was a warmup and even at that level they were great. Then they came back and leapt into gear.. Thanks to all for the wild ride. It was a great night!!

This was an excellent show! With Derek and Susan on guitars and the rest of the band playing their hearts out, this is now a SUPER group! Great solos from all the band members and unbelievable guitar playing from Derek!

    Eclectic guitar god

by FootDoc on 2012-06-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Trucks takes slide guitar in some crazy directions, from Allman Bros southern rock (no doubt appreciated by the majority of the grey-haired audience) all the way to Sun Ran/MIles Davis jazz fusion. But where else can you hear jazz trombone and bottleneck slide together, or a looong solo on the biggest base I've ever seen (what was that thing? looked like a giant banjo and rattled the seats). Ok, some of the lengthy solos and side trips might have been a bit self-indulgent, but an 11-piece band with two drums sets and a full horn section, with Tedeschi's voice over the top of it all? Fantastic.

i think Derek Trucks is one of a limited few guitarists who is not only capable but distinctive and original, and the band's jams are jazz-like in their musicality. my only quibble is that the pacing of the concert is a bit odd. it builds, then goes slack... and the bass solo, however good it was, came too close to the end, just when you think they're building to a final climax. but overall, excellent and varied concert.

Tedeschi Trucks Band, Vancouver, June 19th 2012

by bluesfan51 on 2012-06-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Great musicians, great blues. My only complaint is that the musicians played 'improvisational jazz' on their instrumental solos. It's a blues concert, lose the jazz!

    Tedeschi great. Truck self indulgent

by effortless on 2012-06-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Saw her in Seattle at the Paramount a few years ago. Great performance. Now she seems lost on the stage. Great group of musicians, there is no denying that. Great harmony and vocals and the horn players were fantastic. But the interminably self indulgent guitar solos that accompanied most of the songs detracted from them and left us cold and bored and unwilling to stay for the encore. The need to fine tune (no pun intended) their set list is obvious. A melange of jazz rock gospel and blues, with the final result being off centre and boring. Also the sound mix on Tedeschi's voice was abominable. You could hardly understand her lyrics. Their cover of "Darling Be Home Soon" was the best of the evening, they gave the song an almost martial air with the snare drums and trumpet; almost a cry for a soldier returning home. Very well done. Trying to do too much with too many and ended up being not very good.

    Amazing!

by Trucksfan on 2012-06-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I knew it would be good, but it was amazing! I play guitar, so I truly appreciate the talent that Derek has, and combined with Susan's vocals, it was mind blowing. They broke out into several intense jams that were both technical and a pleasure to listen to. The best part though was when I left and Derek walked out of the door heading to the tour bus, I said "Derek, great show man!" and he happily said "thank you". You can feel his humbleness and real love for his music. Ill never forget this show and Ill go the next time they come to town, for sure.

Absolutely no words to describe it

by Trucksamania on 2011-10-27The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

The opening act was amazing, Mike (the back up singer) played a 45 minutes with his band. The Tedeschi Trucks band was so ridiculous i simply can't find words to describe it. There were there for the music and played their hearts and came back for a 4 song encore which blewwww everyone away. I simply can't believe how much even BETTER than the record they sounded. Everyone is just diggiiiin it. Gotta be there to experience the real thing. if tomorrow they were coming back, i would go haha. It was about 2:30 hours including encore. SOOO MUCH ENERGY.

    totally amazing night

by deborahp on 2011-10-27The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

I went to this show never having seen either Susan or Derek before...my daughter is a huge fan...it was incredible!! So much talent on that stage...of course, Trucks' guitar playing was nothing short of inspirational, and Susan's vocals (not to mention her own guitar prowess, which could easily get dwarfed by Trucks' huge talent...but doesn't) are both remarkable. Each and every one of those musicians on stage are stars in their own right, and when you put them together it is something that has to be seen. We bought the vinyl relelase, and listened to it last night. Also stellar. Lots of variety...old funk/soul to total blues throwdowns. The venue was the perfect size for this band, and the feeling of the music. I hope they do more live music there in the future and not just musicals. The fact that you can go get a drink, take it to your seat, instead of having to chug it in less than ten minutes at intermission...brilliant. All around, an awesome night!

Susan and Derick put on a great show, with their accompaning 9 member band including a 3 piece horn section,2 drum kits, top notch bass & keyboards and 2 multi-talented back up vocalists. The band rocked the joint for 3hrs including a 30 min. encore.

Tadeschi Trucks Top of their Game

by SuBrew on 2011-10-27The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

This was one of the best shows we've seen, and we go to a fair number of concerts! The whole show, start to finish was magic. The opening act was brilliant too.
