About
THE BUCKINGHAMS IN CONCERT:
The sweet sounds of the '60s are alive and well with sunshine pop veterans The Buckinghams. It's been half a century since the band first rose to fame with upbeat favorites like "Kind of a Drag", and today they transport fans back to pop's golden age whenever they perform. Classic hits like "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" sound as good as ever, and the group's signature lush harmonies and resplendent orchestration have stood the test of time. With their classic showmanship and catalog of nostalgic pop hits, The Buckinghams make fans fall "Back In Love Again" every time they take the stage.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
The Buckinghams formed in Chicago in the mid-'60s at the height of the British Invasion then sweeping the nation. They achieved regional success with early singles like "I'll Go Crazy", and in 1966 things really took off when they shot to national fame with No. 1 smash "Kind of a Drag". They followed up with a string of Top 20 hits that included "Susan" and "Don't You Care", and in 1967 Billboard named them "The Most Listened-To Band in America". Despite their popularity the band was unable to maintain their early chart success, and in 1970 they called it quits. But not all was lostóin 1980 a Chicago radio station invited the group to perform a reunion show, and they've been back at it ever since with a lineup that includes original members Nick Fortuna and Carl Giammarese. In addition to touring regularly with bands like The Turtles and The Grass Roots, the band made a triumphant return to the studio in the '00s with popular albums like Live and Well (2006) and The Joy of Christmas (2008). They immortalized their legendary live shows in 2010 with the live album Up Close: The Buckinghams in Concert, and they continue to carry the torch for sunny '60s pop every time they perform.
