  • Cribs at VENUE

Truthfully, my hopes were set high for this gig. I love the Cribs. For the most part, they met my expectations. There was a vigor and character that couldn't be denied. Funnily enough, I thought they sounded best on their slower numbers. For me, songs with more energy (Bovine Public) felt rushed through.

  • Great Show, Good Venue

opener was lame, the cribs were great, beer was expensive, but the cribs were great.

  • Disappointing

The Cribs were good on stage, but they sounded really off. I could barely make out the words they were singing and the instruments didn't sound that good either. They need to do a better job with soundcheck before the performance. It would have been acceptable to have poor sound quality for the opening band, but certainly not for the main band. I've read great reviews about their live shows, so this was probably not typical for them.

  • Waaaakefield.

Although after seeing the Cribs in London and Leeds I can honestly say they're much more fantastic in their native country... you can't really go wrong with a Cribs show. Ever since the addition of Johnny Marr, they've been a little more quiet with their famed antics of bleeding, accidents and absolutely mental concerts, but then again, is it really their fault Toronto is a quiet city? Beyond all the stage extras, the music is what is most important and is still amazing as ever. Last nights show had a lovely set list filled with much old and much new with only a few in between. The Jarmans (and Marr) are always spot on instrumentally and you cannot beat hearing one of those classic Jarman screams live. All in all, fantastic, one part of me feels like more people should come to these shows and see the glory of the Cribs but another part feels like I like them best as a well-kept secret.
