  • Moscow Ballet's Lesser Swan Lake

by FancyLady on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

This seemed like a production that was assembled in haste. The first hint was that the two people dancing the leads could not get into Canada because their Visas were not in order. Hmmmm The choreography was far too loose to command a ticket price of $112.00 and had I known there was not even an orchestra but TAPED music I would not have attended. Although this effort was billed as the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Swan Lake......there was nary a great Russian in sight .

  • My First Ballet

by Lradke on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I bought tickets for my wife and I, for the show, my wife being very excited, and me not knowing what to expect. I am a fan of classical music, but to see the opening scene with the dancers, their grace, costumes...etc...I was moved to tears. I had never seen anything so beautiful. I was taken by the entire performance and look forward going to another ballet. Thank you for the wonderful show!

  • MOSCOW BALLET'S GREAT RUSSIAN SWAN LAKE @

by cazzy8 on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The swan was the most beautiful I have ever seen. Some parts of the ballet were slow, with little lapses in between scenes. It was perhaps a little over priced, but I did expect more seats would be full. It was a lovely evening

  • Swan Lake

by Uralgirl on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

I truely enjoyed the cultural experience. The dancers were beautiful to look at, the music capturing. The seat was an excellent choice.

  • There is a reason why they are called the best!

by RockQueen on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the ballet was awesome. It was my first ballet and I didn't know what to expect when I walked through those doors but it was an unforgettable experience. It's wonderful how they can express so much through their dancing. It was a wonderful show and I would recommend it to anyone who can get swept away by music and dancing.

  • Moscow Ballet's Swan Lake was absolutely beauteous

by Chiy2 on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Swan Lake was truly wonderful! I enjoyed every moment of the program. The dancers were marvelous as were their costumes. The ultimate was the music!!! The Tchiakowski (sorry about the mispelling) compositions were a delight to the ears and a joy to the heart! Of course, I loved the story. I would certainly love to see it again. The only downside for the evening at the lovely Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium was some of the audience of course! There were people who just could NOT keep their foul fingers from messing with their cells and IPHones. They really ruin the mood. Shouldn`t they be told that they are not allowed to have any of that equipment on at all after they pass through the doors into the auditorium, not just while the show is on. Or else confiscate them!

  • Moscow Ballet's Swan Lake was fantastic!

by Pimpernel45 on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I attended the November 16, 2010 production at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and absolutely loved the performance. We were seated in the first row and found the costumes & performances of all members absolutely spectacular. I feel sorry for all the people who did not buy tickets, leaving many empty seats. They missed a wonderful performance.

It was my first time going to see a ballet. It was very nice.

  • Was not great!

by Wonover on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

the prima ballerina was excellent and one of the corp de ballet had beautiful lines - but the rest were mediocre at best. The costumes were nice but the precision of the corp left a lot to be desired. Our Alberta Ballet do a better job most of the time. Having said that, for the inexperienced, it was a nice show - shame that the tickets were so expensive!

  • traditional ballet is ageless

by taffygirl on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The annual visit of the Moscow Ballet was once again a wonderful evening with magical moments. Traditional ballet and costumes are ageless and the spirit of beauty lives on thank you Moscow and I look forward to next years' visit

  • Beautiful!

by LizaJane71 on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Swan Lake has to be one of the most beautiful classic ballets. The Moscow Ballet did a wonderful job in portraying all the characters and scenes. I was a little disappointed, however that they weren't backed up with live orchestral music. In a way I felt a little "jipped" that I only got to experience half the show.

  • Swan Lake was disappointing

by Shemel on 2010-11-18Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

Taped music was of poor quality. Male lead was embarrassingly lacklustre. Two female leads were excellent as were the swans and they carried the performance, but overall very disappointing.

  • Amazing!

The jubilee is a fantastic facility and the Moscow ballet performers are wonderful performers.

Expected live music - not canned; would not have gone if I had known this ahead of time. Costumes were not that exceptional

  • Swan Lake was AWESOME!!

by Karenski on 2010-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

My favourite characters were the jester and Odile. Amazing technique and height in jumps!

  • Great Russian Swan Lake was magnificent

by Mum6510 on 2010-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter and I were thrilled to be front row, centre at the ballet. It was spectacular. The costumes wonderful sparkling like jewels. All the dancers were brilliant and the court jester truly amazing. It was a superb evening we will never forget. If you haven't seen it, treat yourself and go see it, you won't be disappointed.

  • Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Swan Lake

by Vella on 2010-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time we have seen Swan Lake and it was lovely. The quality of the dancing was superb. I would have loved to have a close-up look at the costumes, they we beautiful. Only comment I have is not just for this event, but the lead dancers were not dancing, the stand-ins performed and did a great job. However, this is not the first time that we have attended events in Edmonton that the lead performers have been unavailable, it seems to be a trend. I can't help but feel jipped, these tickets are expensive. Another example was Fiddler on the Roof, I bought tickets especially to see Topol, is Edmonton on the "not Important" list?

  • Bolshoy

by Emad on 2010-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

what are the chances to have Bolshoy in Edmonton????

  • Swan Lake had moments of passion!

by Scrabble on 2010-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I have attended many ballet performances in Canada by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, etc. and although I did enjoy this performance by the Moscow Ballet, I found it lacking in terms of set design, lighting and overall dramatic effect. There were moments of wonderful passion in the performance by the two lead dancers. The dance of the swans was lovely. The character of the sorcerer was danced extremely well.

  • MOSCOW BALLET is on par with the BOLSHOI for sure!

by Edmonton1968 on 2010-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

We were totally amazed at their production of Great Russian Swan Lake! I felt as if I was in Russia myself watching the Bolshoi in Moscow. I would certainly go again and would recommend it to everyone.
