    Zelda Symphony was brilliant!

by LoriAK on 2013-10-16Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses was a truly unique and amazing performance. With a full orchestra peforming the music from the beloved video game, it was hard not to be mesmerized by the music. With a screen showing images from the games, combined with the live orchestra, the event was a memorable evening of enterainment.

    Second Quest was

by becs on 2013-10-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I had not seen first quest, but second quest was really great! It was entertaining, the conductor went along with some of the creators ideas, and the musical was pretty fluid within the pieces. I was not expecting the live choir, which was pretty wonderful.

    Absolutely Amazing.

by Foushee on 2013-10-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The Symphony was absolutely beautiful. The music, the video clips in the background, the people... everything was just amazing. There were actually tears running down my face when hearing old childhood tunes. This event really brought people together! Hope to see the second installment of it next year!

A mix of good and bad

by Retrofox on 2013-10-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Very talented musicians. Visuals that accompanied the music were mostly distracting and unnecessary, and sometimes of low quality :-( I wish the people in the crowd had been quieter at times; it's not a rock concert! Felt like mostly a cash grab, though again, the quality of the musicians and the symphonic movements was very good. The execution felt disappointingly juvenile. The composers/creators weren't very good emcees either. Oh well, I suppose I'm nitpicking now. Wish I could have the symphony on CD so I could enjoy it at home!

    wonderful,magical

by youngfamily on 2013-10-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I went with my husband and children to this, all of whom love Zelda. It was a really fun event..lots of people attending in costume, so it was neat to have the kids get their pictures with Link and other characters. The music was wonderful and synchronized very well with sequences from the games. The audience loved it and was very appreciative. Amazing to see how many Zelda fans there are and from all walks of life! The Zelda stories are very magical and heroic. My kids and I wished that there was more from the latest Zelda: Legend of the Skyward Sword, because that is most familiar to us, but really wonderful fun, memorable night. The music is beautiful and it was cool to have the musicians highlighted throughout on the big screen.

The LoZ: Symphony of the Goddesses - Second Quest

by CasualRiku on 2013-10-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

'The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses - Second Quest' was absolutely amazing! I really loved how they played the main theme from the series in several different ways and movements. They also played other theme songs from the game. I also loved how there was video game footage playing on the big screen while the musicians played various theme songs from the game. At times, the video game footage even went with the rhythm of the music as well. This Dark Navi cosplayer was impressed with the overall performance.

The venue was great. The orchestra was great. The visuals were great. But the encore went on for too long. Tickets were over priced so the main floor was half empty and the balcony was full of students. I am not a student but was not willing to pay over $100 for 1 ticket away from them. No offence to the students but they were a little over excitedabiut the whole thing. I did enjoy the performance but next time. May try to leave after the 2nd encore.

    A Fun Evening

by AaronZOOM on 2013-10-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Loved the new additions! Wind Waker and Link's Awakening have phenomenal music, and the arrangements are well done. The musicians didn't have the level of polish of the local Symphony overall, but it was well performed. They absolutely should sell a companion album at this event.

Zelda Second Quest has sequel growing pains

by Rydia on 2013-09-12Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Second time around seeing the Zelda symphony, and while I still had a great time, the changes made to the musical line-up were not for the better. The quality of the music and vocal performance were lovely. The four main movements were fantastic, but they skipped the dungeon medley and "The Hero of Time / Song of Healing / Song of Storms" medley, and swapped in some others, apparently in response to popular demand. I was rather surprised because Song of Storms performed by a vocal choir is something special, it seems such a waste to ignore it. I can see keeping the Majora's Mask theme, but Dragon Roost Island is not worth getting excited about and I would have preferred a classic song over Ballad of the Goddess. The Gerudo Valley song was still fantastic though. I think the concert would still benefit from less talking from Chad and Jeron, neither of whom seem very comfortable in front of a crowd, afterall people come for the music, not the banter. Same problem with the venue as last year: the Sony Centre has terrible crowd control and the merchandise cage has no netting up to form an actual line so it's a pushing free-for-all.
