2nd time around, the show did not dissappoint! Loved it!
Me, along with my mom went and saw, listened and experienced the music skillfully played by the orchestra. Very powerful and amazing, if they were to have a third quest I would absolutely go back again.
It was done very well and covered more games than expected. It was an amazing atmosphere and overall a great time
Wonderful experience, both for those familiar with the franchise and otherwise!
I took my uncle to the show for his birthday. We both play the Zelda video games and enjoy the music. My uncle is 49 and I am 15. I attended the 25th anniversary concert with my mom last year in Toronto. We ate at the old Spaghetti factory before the concert. I enjoyed the clips on the big screen. It was "Epic". The choir and orchestra were fantastic. We look forward to attending another event at this venue in the future.
They were beter than I expected and played everything i wanted
The people who went were all really nice and enthusiastic, the staff was useful and understanding. The hosts of the show knew how to make people laugh, and the players themselves performed excellently. The music coordinated perfectly with the back display and made all viewers laugh and clap at the right moments. Overall it was amazing, and I would definitely go again
The Legend of Zelda has been one of the greatest video game franchises for almost 3 decades. One of the core elements that the series is known for are the musical scores which have touched the hearts and souls of many gamers. Symphony of the Goddess touches upon more then 25 years of Zelda music with a brand new touch with a full orchestra dedicated to the long-running series. Though some fans who are unfamiliar with several of the games may not recognize the music they will without a doubt become memorized by the music itself. Here's hoping for another worldwide tour with additional tracks from the Zelda franchise (like Groose's theme).
The symphony was amazing and managed to drive me to tears on multiple occasions throughout the night. A fantastic show that's definitely worth attending more than once.
Unforgettable evening of music and memories. Such fun seeing the fans in costume and their enthusiasm. Can't wait for the next one.
A must see, had an amazing time. The show sounded great and the themed movies where a nice touch!
It was a very magical experience for me. It was like reliving my childhood.
beautiful music. The 3 encores at the end were a bit much. I think it would have had more of an artistic impact to end the symphony with the main Zelda theme, but overall a very enjoyable evening.
the music was good but the Calgary philharmonic left much to be desired. Even at the best of times, the calgary philharmonic isn't the best orchestra so I was disappointed by the actual playing(the chorus was fantastic though). That said; I would recommend the show. The conductor and compilation were very good, the speaker was quite affectionate and the first encore alone was worth the price of the ticket.
Absolutely incredible concert! If you have any love for LoZ or video games in general go see this concert, you won't be disappointed.
The orchestra was amazing! And so was the conductor, conducting with the windwaker baton was a great touch! The visuals were great! And three encores was so much fun! I loved all the movements but my favorite was the Great Fairy Fountain! They should do this more often for Zelda!
Having been a player of the Legend of Zelda franchise since its inception, I was really looking forward to this concert. Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed. The music the orchestra played spanned the entire franchise, mainly focused on "Link to the Past" and "Ocarina of Time". There were some fantastic single pieces played, such as Gerudo Valley and Kakariko Village, but I loved the medleys they constructed. The Ocarina Medley put together all the memorable shorts from OoT and hearing the Song of Time with a full choir was fantastic. The compilations from the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were inspired and when coupled with the images, imbued the pieces with a great sense of nostalgia. The Dungeon Theme's included the Palace Theme from Zelda II which was an awesome source of memories. The final encore was a medley from Majora's Mask, which the crowd absolutely adored and was a fitting close to the concert. The energy was high and enthusiasm infectious. The concert was incredible and if it ever returns to Toronto, I would attend in a heartbeat.
Simply amazing. Twas a great night to be a Zelda fan. Every moment of the series was represented including Zelda 2 and Majors Mask. Loved every second of it. I would definitely want to experience this again.
I've been playing Zelda since the first Nintendo cartridge, and have always loved the music. I was very excited to see Zelda music performed live. The music selection was varied and represented some of the best Zelda scores of all time. The conductor and the orchestra did a wonderful job. The opening medley and accompanying footage was fabulous, hearing those original themes and seeing Link get suited up in his classic gear just... I don't know.... it just touched my soul. If you haven't played Zelda as a kid you won't understand. It is obvious that a longtime Zelda fan arranged the game-play footage, which shows Link making mistakes, and the frustration of trying to figure out the correct path. How many of us got through A Link to the Past without falling down the hole in the dungeon floor? Seeing those epic 8-bit boss fights during the opening medley was a great trip down memory lane. And oh, the chickens! I have attending four video game music concerts: FF:DW twice, VGL once, and now Zelda. I rank the Zelda concert right up there with the Final Fantasy concert, it could only be better if Koji Kondo was in attendence. The Zelda concert was a solid 2 hours and 15 minutes of great music and a great time. I hope they release a DVD of the concert, I would definitely buy it. What I found disappointing: They did not play the six warp songs from Ocarina of Time, I could have cried! They are all so beautiful, it's a shame they didn't make the cut. Would recommend less time devoted to Jeron Moore trying to incite the Toronto crowd to out-shout the Montreal audience, and more time to the music. (VGL has the same problem, Tommy Tallarico talks a LOT.) A few of his comments were funny, but this is my 4th time attending a video game music concert and let's face it: the crowd is already over-stimulated to the point of hysteria, you really don't need more screaming. The merchandise cage was a huge crush of people, without crowd control and no actual line-up, huge wait times. (The line-up problem also happened at both both FF:DW concerts so I'm unclear if this is a venue problem or a production problem). I wish you could buy the merchandise from an online store but the official website for the show does not have a store.
The concert hall was great, not a bad seat in the house. The orchestra was just the right size & volume, and the video screen was big & sharp. The selection of music was very good, although several of my favorites (some being fan favorites as well) were MIA. In addition, the final encore felt rushed. The arrangements were a mixed bag. Some were absolutely faithful to the original songs, and some were hard to recognize. But everything sounded just great! Excellent brass & harp work! I'd give it 9 out of 10 overall. :) P.S. The selection of souvenirs was poor. Just one kind of T-shirt, and a somewhat bland looking poster. Hats would've been nice. I also don't think that any programs were handed out, or even available for purchase.
